A lil inspo from Percy Jackson... and this is my first time writing in 3rd person...

Claudia was sitting in class barely paying any attention to her teacher as she was thinking about her early days in primary school and how they used to learn a lot about Greek Mythology. She was daydreaming until she heard her name,

“Claudia!” Her teacher shouted as she heard giggles all around her. “Tell me the answer to this question.”

“Hm, oh ok… the answer is 2487.”

“...C-Correct.” He said, quite surprised.

Everyone was silent for quite a while as Claudia went back to daydreaming.

‘Poseidon, the God of the sea, also a big cheater… Zeus the king god of all gods and goddesses, also the brother of Poseidon… Hera the goddess of marriage and the life of women also the wife of Zeus… Aphrodite the goddess of love a.k.a. A slu-’ I’m not gonna finish that-

When the class finished, Claudia went to the library. She decided to skip her next class, which was English. She decided to get a book that she liked and if not then she would go out to the beach that was close to her school campus and just hang out with Poseidon. She headed to the library as she went to get a book. She recently has been absorbed in Greek Mythology, to her it seemed unfair that when she or anyone else was younger they learned about Greek mythology, and that wasn’t every year of primary school… only like 2nd grade and 3rd grade. So she found a big book about Greek Mythology and went out to the beach. She wasn’t particularly the popular type nor was she the nerdy type, she was average… it's usual for her to get hate and it's pretty normal for her to get compliments. The main reason why she got hate was that the school jock likes her and so he decided to break up with his girlfriend a.k.a the cheer captain. Pretty cliche… right..?

She took her backpack after she found the book she wanted and she left. Claudia always packed some extra clothes cause she would always go to the beach either when she skipped class or after school altogether. She went to the beach's bathroom first and she wore her extra clothes so that her school clothes wouldn’t get dirty. The clothes she brought with her were a light-weight, cotton, soft, comfy light blue tee with some black jersey shorts. She went out and sat at her normal spot but a little away from the sea because she had a book from her school library and right now she couldn't afford to pay for a book that got messed up and where she sat, she was sure that she wouldn't be close to experiencing the embarrassment of not being able to afford an exact same copy of this book…

As she sat down in the semi-dry sand she felt the bits tickle her toes as she picked up a handful and let it seep through the spaces between her fingers like a little boy in a sandpit. She loved this place ever since she was little. Her father would always bring her and her mother here every weekend he had until he had to go back to the military and never came back. Then after the sixth month of Claudia and her mother waiting for him to come, two soldiers came and she can still hear their icey rock-like voices saying the 4 words that plunged her into darkness. Claudia was quite small when she got introduced to this news, all she can mainly remember is that her mom had kneeled in front of her with tears spilling out of her eyes while she hugged her. Claudia still shared a type of sympathy for when she has sudden flashbacks for that very moment.

Another thing that is a bit odd about Claudia is that she has experienced such supernatural events that she now believes that she is kind of like Percy Jackson, well mainly about being half-blood and if there really was a half-blood camp she’d be more than happy to go there. When she settled down she didn't care about not telling anyone to tell the teacher that she’s absent. This was Claudia’s only live memorable place. This was like her happy place but instead, it held more secrets. She opened the book and she heard the little creak that you’d hear when you open a book that has been closed for a long time and she sensed the smell of the book that was brand new, it was bad... but not that bad. Claudia flipped through the big book of mythology as she turned to the first actual page, it was talking about Zeus.

She read the first few pages on Zeus as thunder lit up the whole sky, making the ground shake, making Claudia aware of the supernatural event. Then she read about Hades, nothing happened. Then it was time for her to read the page about Poseidon. She hesitated for a bit while scooting a bit more away from the sea then Claudia confidently turned the page and read the first few words. The waves slammed down to the sandy ground, then she finished reading the first paragraph and the waves stood up to her, it was a blob.

Claudia looked at it and tilted her head with confusion. She wasn't as surprised as a normal being would be because she already experienced a bunch of supernatural events like that. When Claudia tilted her head so did the blob. She looked at it while she was sitting down as the book was open in front of her. She got up and in an attempt to get a bit familiar with the Gods and Goddesses.

She stood there silent for a while, not daring to move. She then flung her arms open, but the blob flinched.

“Ah! No!” Claudia said, thinking she scared it. “Sorry!”

She then held her arms out to hug the blob, but she thought she scared the blob so she sat back down, defeated. Claudia placed the book back in her lap and right when she started reading the first few words, the blob came and took Claudia with it, soaking her to the core. When she opened her eyes she smiled but the smile quickly faded when she remembered about… the book!

She looked around frantically, to see if the book was dry. She looked around and saw it in a loose pile of sand. She lost all hope when she saw the sight of that book.

“Oh no!” She said, defiantly worried. “No, no, no, no, no!”

She ran to the book, maniacally digging through the dust to get the book. When she first touched the book, it was dry..? She held the book thinking she was insane or something. It was completely… dry?! She was extremely happy.

Well it ends up that Poseidon isn’t as bad as we thought. She then stayed out on the sandy beach for the rest of the day...
