“Mommy, when can I open my eyes?” I said.
“In a minute dear,” said my Mom. She was excited. Too excited.
This was me. Emerson Dayoire. July 1st. Today was Sunday. This is the year 2017. I am 7 years old.
“Now you can look,” she said.
I immediately opened my eyes.
There I saw the most amazing sunrise that I have ever seen.
“Woah!” I said. “So cool.”
“I know right?” said my Mom. “This is amazingly wonderful.
I looked at the sunrise and it shocked my eyes. My little sister, Destiny, as well as my Dad, and three brothers Elias, Ethan, and Grayson were with me.
Destiny was 5 years old. Ethan was 9. Grayson was 10. And Elias was 11.
“The sun is really amazing, Faith,” said Dad.
“It sure is, Jayce,” said Mom. She then began to take pictures and show them to us.
“So bright,” said Ethan. Then, he began to say, “Mom, I am hungry. Is there something to eat?”
“Yes, dear,” said Mom.
“Dude, you are always hungry,” said Elias, ruffling his head.
“Yeah dude, learn how to control your hunger,” said Grayson, rubbing his back.
Ethan blushed but smiled.
The sun was shining above our faces. It was fascinating.
We ate waffles and pancakes for breakfast.
As we talked about the sunrise, “Destiny asked, “Daddy, are we coming here every day?”
“Yes, dear,” he said. “Because it’s fascinating, that is why.”
“Okay, Daddy,” said Destiny.
We were really young when we first came to visit the sunrise. It was an amazing sight to see.
I hope that we can visit the sunrise every single day for the rest of our lives.
10 years later
“Wow!” I said. “So amazing.”
The year was 2027. On July 1st.Today was Sunday.
I was watching it. The amazing, shining, sunset. Again.
Hi. My name is Emerson. Again. Today at 3:00am, my parents wanted to take us to see the sunrise. Like we do every day.
I am 17 years old now. And also, I am very sorry to tell you about how my family and I looked in the beginning. Okay well, I will tell you. I had wavy shoulder-length Bright Blondish-orangish, and cream-colored hair, with dark blue, and cyan eyes. I was wearing a Scarlet red lip gloss, and also wearing a tight, knee-cut and flowing bright blue summer dress with red, orange, and yellow flowers.
As for my brothers, they were technically adults. Like young adults.
Ethan was 19. Grayson was 20. And Elias was 21.
As for my Dad, he had the same blonde hair as me, Ethan and Elias. Grayson and Destiny had Mom’s hair color. Ethan and Elias had Mom’s eye color, and Grayson, Destiny, and I had Dad’s eye color. Blue eyes.
I sighed as the wind flew on my hair.
We all brought our phones to take pictures of it.
“I love the sunset!” I yelled. “Mom, Dad, thank you for taking us here.”
“You are welcome!” they said.
Then Ethan came to me.
“You know, I am really hungry,” he said. “And sleepy.”
“Well, it’s alright,” I said. “We can lay back and watch the beautiful sunrise.”
“Yes, thanks,” he said. Then he asked Mom for food.
“I brought some food,” she said.
Destiny began taking pictures of the sunrise and then sent it to me.
“Hello, Mom, hello Dad,” she said. Then she showed it to my parents.
“Hello, dear,” said my Mom. “That is very wonderful.”
“Amazing,” said my Dad.
“You know, when I was young, my parents used to take me and my brothers and sisters to the sunrise all the time,” she said. “It was beautiful. So amazing. We took so many pictures.”
My Dad hugged my Mom. “That is amazing, dear.”
I took a picture of it and then showed it to them.
“Amazing,” they said.
My parents seemed very proud and happy for me. I smiled. They smiled too.
As we took more pictures, we began to feel hungry.
Dad brought us some homemade pancakes and waffles. With frosting, Plastic plates and Forks.
“Yum,” he said.
“Thanks, Dad,” we said.
“You are very Welcome,” he said.
As we ate very quickly, we then felt a bit full and drank some orange juice. While eating, we began to watch the sunrise again. We even took more pictures.
“So amazing,” said my Dad. “Honey, we could do this every day.”
“I know,” she said. “I love it. We do it all the time.
Soon after a very long time, we began to feel pretty tired and went back home.
“Wow, the sun rose up so fast,” said Grayson. “Really fast.”
“Yes, I know,” said Elias. “The sun, always rising up.”
The time was 7:00. We had been there for 4 hours.
“Come one, guys, it is the Summer,” said Ethan. “Let's take a break and watch a movie.”
“Okay,” I said.
We entered inside our home and watched a family movie. We actually watched 3 family movies.
After that, we decided to get some rest.
“Today, we are going to the beach at 11:00,” said Dad. “But since it is 10 oclock, you guys can do whatever you want. It is your choice. Your decision.”
“Really?” asked Gray.
“Yes.”
“Thanks,” said Elias.
As Mom and Dad headed upstairs for some sleep, we all wanted to play a game together.
“Let us play UNO,” said Ethan. “I love UNO.
“No, video games,” said Elias.
“Isn’t that too much screen time?” asked Destiny.
“Well, yeah, I know, but I love video games,” said Elias.
“What about Jenga?” asked Grayson. “It’s super fun.”
“No, video games,” said Elias.
“UNO,” said Ethan.
The three of them had an argument.
“Guys stop arguing, Mom and Dad are sleeping,” said Destiny. “I know, we can play a game all of us can enjoy.”
“Like what?” I asked.
Then she showed us her list of games.
“We can play chess, monopoly, cards….” she suggested.
“Okay,” said Ethan. “But, I really really really hate chess. It is so boring. The other opponent gets everything they want.”
“No, it is not boring,” said Destiny. “It is fun.”
“Not for me,” said Ethan.
“I actually like cards,” said Elias.
“Yes, let's play cards,” I said.
The others agreed.
We took out our cards and then decided to play with each other. After 30 minutes, it was 10:30.
Suddenly, we heard our parents' voices.
“Guys, we have an announcement. We were not sleepy and we decided to go to the beach. Now! So you guys go pack up. We are leaving now.”
“Yes!!!” we yelled.
“The beach. Yay! I can’t wait,” I said.
“Me too,” said Destiny.
We all hugged each other and got our stuff ready. We packed sunscreen, swimsuits, goggles, delicious foods, and everything we needed.
After that, we were ready to leave.
“Are you ready?” asked Dad, as he started the car.
“Yes,” we said.
“Then, let’s go!” yelled Dad.
We were still wearing the same clothes, we were when we saw the sunrise.
During the trip to the beach, we watched videos on our phones, except Dad because he was driving.
After what seemed like forever, we were finally at the beach. There were alot of people.
We finally found an empty spot on the beach, but it was too sunny outside.
“Remember to wear sunscreen,” said Mom.
We all wore sunscreen and headed off into the ocean.
Elias,Ethan, and Grayson, each took off to swim in the ocean.
“Woah, so cold!” yelled Grayson.
“So much fun!” yelled Ethan.
“Lovin’ the water!” yelled Elias.
Destiny and I sat down next to each other.
As Mom and Dad talked to their friends on the beach, Destiny and I looked for our friends, but they were not there.
At least we were sisters, so we could talk to each other.
“So, what are your summer plans?” asked Destiny.
“Well, I'll have lots of fun, to prepare my courses for next year, and to watch lots of teen movies,” I said. “What about you?”
“To watch lots of teen movies too, to write down many fanfictions or stories, and to learn how to do as many things as I can,” said Destiny.
We both laughed together.
Then, Destiny said, “Do you know Summer beach movies from the 1980s?”
“Yeah I really like those,” I said.
“Well, I always wanted to be in a Disney Channel Teen Movie,” she said. “I love Disney Channel Teen Movies.”
“Same,” I said.
As everyone had fun on the beach, suddenly the sun started to get really dim.
“What?” I gasped in shock.
Everyone looked at the sky.
“Emerson,” asked Destiny. “What is going on?”
“I have no idea,” I said. “But at least it’s not raining. I really hate rain and thunder. In fact, I hate it so bad, the World is a better place without it.”
You know, one fact about me: Rain, Thunder, and Lightning make me think of bad things.
Elias, Grayson, and Elias, got out of the water in fear.
“Mom, Dad, what is happening to the sun?” asked Elias.
“I have no idea, it wasn’t like this before,” said Mom.
“Same,” said Dad. “The sun we saw in the sunrise was much brighter than this.”
Then it just got even dimmer. And dimmer.
Or anyone. But we could hear some voices.
“Mom, Dad?” I called.
No answer.
“Elias, Grayson, Ethan, Destiny?” I called.
No answer. Again.
This was insane. Where was I?
No one answered when I called them. Was I in a different place?
“Hello, can anyone hear me?” I called out.
Then, for a few minutes, I heard someone else’s voice.
“Hello? Who is calling?” they yelled.
“It was a male voice.
“Hello?” he repeated.
Suddenly, due to the overbearing brightness of the sun, I lost my balance, injured myself and fell down.
“Ow!” I yelled. I was in so much pain and the sun was burning me.
Suddenly it dimmed down.
“Oh, are you okay?” he said. He then ran to me and picked me up.
“Um, yeah sure,” I said. Then, that was when I finally saw him.
He had wavy black hair , dark green eyes, and a very amazing smile. He was wearing a white T-shirt with dark red pants.
“Woah!” I said. “Who are you?”
“My name is Amias,” he said. “And you are?”
“Emerson,” I said. Then I forgot that I injured myself.
“Ow!” I yelled. I was in so much pain.”
“Okay, Emerson,” said Amias.”I will help you, but I don’t think that you are on the right beach. This country is Florida. Are you okay here?”
“Yes,”I said. “But I live in Houston.”
“Okay, Emerson,” said Amias. “Well, technically, the sun is very unusual these times since it keeps on getting dimmer and brighter all the time. The sun’s thing is actually causing people to teleport to other beaches.”
“Will I ever see my family again?” I asked.
“Yes,” he said. “You will.”
“Thanks,” I said.
Amias noticed that I injured my right leg. “Will you be able to walk?” he asked.
“No!” I said.
“Okay, then I will help you, Emerson,” he said.
He then took my arm around him and started taking me to the cafeteria.
“You know, if you didn’t come, I would have been dead by now,” I said.
“No, Emerson, you will not die,” he said. “You are amazing.”
“Thanks,” I said. “But you hardly know me,”
“Yeah, sorry, but I am always kind to new people.”
“Okay,” I said.
As we got to the cafeteria, he brought me some burgers, french fries, pizza, and a milkshake.
As I ate, he then asked me, “So where do your parents live again?”
I swallowed a burger. “In Houston,” I said.
“Okay, Wow!” he said. “And how many siblings do you have?”
“I have 3 brothers and 1 sister,” I said. “They are Destiny, Ethan, Elias, and Grayson. But I am not sure where they are because you said that the sun teleported me here.”
“Yup,” he said. “So, how is Houston like? I have never been there before.”
“Well, Houston is a very fascinating place full of Western Wonder and surprises,” I said.
“You know, my family and I usually go to visit the sunrise all the time,.”
“Me too!” yelled Amias. “I love the sunrise.”
Then he looked at my shocked face.
“Oh, sorry,” he said.
“That is alright,” I said.
As we finished our food, he then talked about his family.
“I only have 5 brothers,'' he said. “ They are Henry, Jackson, Harrison, Samson, and Tristan. I don’t have any sisters.”
“It’s okay,” I said.
Now, you really need to go to the Hospital,” he said. “You need help.”
“Yes,” I said.
“I mean, your right leg is sore, your face kind of looks burned, and also your voice sounds a bit frail.”
“Okay,” I said.
“Here I will help you,” he said. His voice was calm.
As he carried me to the nearest aid, the nurse wanted to help me with my things.
“Oh, poor dear,” she said. “You are very injured. But I will help you.”
“Thanks, Maam,” I said. “You are very helpful.”
“You are very Welcome,” she said.
As I was all fixed and ready to go, I said bye to the nurse that helped me and walked about with Amias.
“Thanks, Amias,” I said. “You are very helpful and kind.”
“Thanks,” he said. “You are amazing.”
As I walked with Amias to his house, he showed me his 5 siblings and his parents.
He has his Mom’s eyes, but his Dad’s hair. So cool.
“You know, I have my Dad’s hair and eye color,” I said.
“Cool,” he said.
“As his 5 brothers met me, my life in Florida rocked.
Soon or later, for 3 weeks, I started to get into Amias.
He was this kind amazing boy that I have never met. He showed me so much in Florida, such as beaches, schools, parks, and everything. After that, I became really close with Amias. E was awesome.
Then suddenly, as me and Amias were hanging out on the beach, drinking milkshakes, the sun started to shine again.
“Emerson, look out!” he yelled. “We are going to teleport.”
“After a very long time of knowing you, now we are going to teleport?” I asked.
“Yes!” he said.
“Oh no!” I yelled. “My life is over.”
“No!” he said. “It is not over.”
Then, suddenly, I fell down and hurt my knee. I even twisted my ankle.
“Ow!” I yelled. “What happened?”
“Emerson, I am right here!” yelled Amias.
Tears started flooding my eyes. “Are we teleporting again?” I asked.
“Emerson, don’t cry,” said Amias. Then, he hugged me really right. “It is okay. You and I will have it together. It is okay. Do not worry.”
“Okay,” I said, hugging him back. “Thanks.”
As he carried me again, from the beach, some sunlight went into my eye.
“Ouch!” I yelled. “My eye.”
“Emerson, you are almost there,” said Amias. “I will take you to the hospital again. It is okay.”
“Okay,” I said, smiling at him.
As the nurse helped me again, I was all better.
“Thank you. Again,”I said.
“No problem,” she said.
Suddenly the sun got dim.
We looked outside.
“What happened?” I asked.
“I don’t know,” said Amias.
Then, once again, the sun turned extremely bright. So bright that it was impossible to see.
“Amias!” I yelled
“Emerson!” he yelled.
“Then, everything went blank.
As I woke up, I was back on the beach I used to be.
Suddenly, I saw my parents and siblings.
“Mom, Dad, Destiny, Elias, Ethan, Grayson?” I asked, tearfully.
They all ran to me and hugged me.
“We missed you so much dear,” said Mom.
“Thank goodness you came back,” said Destiny.
“We couldn’t imagine having a life without you,” said Dad.
“Emerson, are you okay?” asked Ethan.
“Yeah, what happened?” asked Elias.
“We really want to know,” said Grayson.
“As I told them the whole story of me and Amias, they were shocked.
They even asked me questions about him. As I answered them one by one, after that, then Dad explained what was going on with the sun.
“The sun has some technical solar problems that cause people, and creatures to teleport,” said Dad. “It might have something to do with technical difficulties, such as electricity. But after a few more years this would stop.”
“So, when will you meet Amias again, Emerson?” asked Mom.
“Someday,” I said. “Someday.”
7 years later
This was 7 years later. I grew up, became a Mom, and have two sons and one daughter. I now live in Toronto, Canada.
“Oh dear,” I said. “Wake up.”
My daughter, Paige, who was 3 years old, woke up. Paige has her Dad’s hair color, but my eye color.
As I carried her in my arms to watch the sunrise, my husband, Amias, came to us.
“Hey, Emerson,” he said. “Hey, Paige.”
My daughter smiled and laughed.
My two sons, Kenneth and Dominic came to watch.
Kenneth was 5 years old and Dominic was 7 years old.
They both have blonde hair, but their Dad’s eye color.
“Mom, why are we here again?” asked Kenneth.
“To watch the sunrise, just like your Grandmother showed me,” I answered.
“We also watched the sunrise, too,” said Amias.
“Really?” asked Kenneth.
“Yes,” I said.
“Okay,” he said.
“Mom, Dad, I am hungry,” said Dominic.
“You always are, dude,” said Kenneth, ruffling his hair.
They remind me of Ethan, Grayson, and Elias.
Then, Paige began to squirm.
“It’s okay,” I said. “It is okay.”
I held her up to see the sunrise and she began smiling. Really wide.
As we ate pancakes and waffles, Amias asked, “So, dear, will we watch the sunrise, every day?”
“Yes,” I said. Every single day.”
He smiled and wrapped his arm around me.
As we peacefully watched the sunrise, we began to feel a great peace towards life.
