A Dark Portal

Sandy woke up at 9:30 like any other Saturday morning. She started her day like normal, she got up to brush her teeth and take a shower. Once she was done with that she got dressed, made her bed and headed to the kitchen to make herself breakfast. She figured she’d make herself an omelette and a bagel with cream cheese with some orange juice. She got all her ingredients from both the pantry and refrigerator out and began cooking. After making her breakfast, she sat at her table and ate, while spending some time on her phone. Once she was done eating, she washed her dishes, cleaned her mess and began to put everything away. When she opened the refrigerator to put the juice away she saw a large and dark circle covering nearly everything in front of her.

She screamed and backed away from it unsure of what it was. Sandy then began to panic as she didn’t know what was happening or what to do. She got close enough to close her refrigerator, but she remained confused and scared as to what that was. She ran to her room, grabbed her laptop and brought it with her to the kitchen. She sat at her table looking up things such as: dark circles, portals, spirit gateways; just trying to figure out what was in her refrigerator. Roughly 20 minutes had passed since she had opened her refrigerator, so she decided to check if the “circle” was still there. It was. 

Still unsure about what to do Sandy decided to call her boyfriend, hoping that somehow they’d be able to figure out what was in her refrigerator. Sandy’s boyfriend, Jalen, arrived shortly after she called him. He took a look at the dark “circle” in her refrigerator and was as baffled as she was. They both sat at her table trying to think of what it could possibly be. They remained puzzled until Jalen thought of something! He told Sandy he remembered seeing something familiar to that dark “circle” before in a movie. He then began to explain what the movie was about, except that in the movie that dark “circle” wasn’t a circle at all, but a portal.

Sandy was just as confused as she was in the beginning asking him “A portal!? How would a portal get in my refrigerator?”. Jalen explained to her that he wasn’t positive it was a portal, only that he had seen something similar to what she called a “circle” in a movie. Jalen suggested maybe they try touching the circle to see what it did; however, Sandy was completely against that idea as it was too scary and risky for her. They decided they’d try and throw something at the “circle” to see what would happen to that object. Jalen grabbed an orange and threw it towards the center of the circle and it disappeared into the circle. They were in disbelief. They decided it was not just a dark circle, but a portal. 

At this point, hours had passed since Sandy had discovered the portal and her and Jalen still had no idea what to do. Then all of a sudden something came to Sandy. Her best friend, Maddie, believed in witchcraft, spirits, signs from other dimensions, and such things. Sandy quickly called Maddie asking if she could come over telling her that it was an emergency. Maddie was at Sandy’s doorstep within 10 minutes ready for Sandy to explain to her what was the emergency. Both Sandy and Jalen explained to Maddie what had been discovered and asked if she could help them figure out what that portal represented and what it meant. 

Maddie sat at the table with them thinking about all the stories that had been told to her by her grandmother trying to figure out if this was in any way familiar to her. Suddenly a thought came to Maddie, she stood up and made her way to the refrigerator. She took a close look at the circle and looked to see if she felt a sort of “ora” from it. She sat back down and told Sandy and Jalen that she was going to take a peek into the portal. They were scared since they didn’t know if it could suck her in it or something like that, but Maddie assured them she’d be fine. 

All three of them stood in front of the refrigerator, Jalen and Sandy each grabbed one of Maddie’s arms as she began to peek her head into the portal. She kept her head in there for nearly three minutes before coming back out. They sat back down ready for Maddie to explain what she had seen or felt while partly being in the portal. She looked at Sandy and told her she felt something dark from that portal, as if someone had sent the magical portal to her home. Sandy began to panic while trying to figure out who would’ve done this to her and for what reason. However, Maddie told Sandy she could fix it, she could take that portal out of her home, she just needed to figure out exactly how. 

They sat there trying to figure out how to get rid of a dark and magical portal. Maddie reflected on all the stories her grandmother had told her which relate to a portal, but she was struggling to come up with how to get rid of the portal and what it meant. After being unable to remember clearly, she decided to make a quick phone call to her grandmother to ask her for help. Maddie told her grandmother about the portal and what she saw and felt from it. A few minutes after being on the phone with her grandmother, Maddie explained to Sandy that the portal had been summoned to her home by someone who despised her and wanted their revenge for what she had done to them. Sandy couldn’t figure out who would’ve wished bad upon her, but for now that didn’t matter, they just needed to remove the portal as soon as possible.

The three began to prepare to destroy the portal. Sandy and Jalen began to light candles around Sandy’s kitchen as Maddie began to create a mixture which she would throw in the portal hoping it would destroy it. The mixture was made of: 5 cups of boiling water, a tablespoon of salt, 5 tablespoons of honey, and a handful of mint tree leaves. Once they were all set up Maddie mixed the mixture, said a prayer of another language over it, and threw it into the portal. The portal then began to turn and make loud noises as it began to shrink until it was nothing. Just like that the magical portal was gone, but the three still had yet to know who had sent the portal to Sandy’s home and for what reason.
