Endangered Terror
The Sumatra Tiger continues to pursue its prey in the Sumatra jungle brush. Moving with caution and precision, the young tiger watches the Sumatran cuckoo as it pecks away its food. Preparing to strike it quickly is pulled up in a net as a pair of poachers come out of the bushes with large curare tipped spears. The tiger is quickly struck with the spear as it whimpers in pain The cuckoo flees from the seen but is quickly captured by a boomerang net
pulling the animal down to the ground. The poachers applaud in victory at the capture of the two animals.
Daunte Scott a college grad from Arkansas spots the travesty of the poachers and charges with a machete after the poachers. “Let them Go” yelling in Indonesian the young Asian man with a family history of Indonesian and was studying the cuckoo who is in the endangered list. The grad student charges but is quickly put down by a .38 caliber held by the poachers.
“Leave the kid, lets get our bounty for these animals.” Comments an Afrikaner man known as Gareth Burke orders his hired Chinese and Tamil poachers.
Sumatra international Airport
A black plum gulf-stream jet touches down at the Sumatra Airport. A group of FBI agents steps off the aircraft as a land rover with flashing blue lights pulls up to the aircraft. Robert “Badge” Mitchell leads his team of government agents to a brown blond hair woman wearing
Australian game warden BDUS extends her hand to the Government agents. “Agent Mitchell I am Eva Fern of the Australian Anti-Poaching Task Force. I am to serve as your liaison with Sumatra law enforcement authorities.”
“Nice to meet You Agent Fern this is my team John High-eagle, Reese Williams, Dr. Alison Kim and WO Smyth. We are here to look into the disappearance of Daunte Scott a grad student working with the World Wildlife Foundation” comments the brown haired white man carrying a FBI evidence kit and wearing a black plum bow-tie. .
“How far in is the crime scene?” comments Mitchell
“Its about a three day journey but the Sumatran Authorities just got the body two days ago and its rigor mortise is pretty mucky in the Sumatra jungle. The only way your embassy got word
was through a dental ID of the victim."
“That's why I am here, perhaps my forensic skills can give the authorities a better view of TOD (Time of Death) and COD (Cause of Death)..comments Dr. Alison Kim an Amerasian woman in
white business suit.
“I will take Dr. Kim to the local morgue where she can perform her autopsy and release it to the embassy where it can go home.”
“Gurney and Shaman join Dr. Kim; while Reese and I get the clearance by the embassy for FBI stuff.'
The land rover takes off from the airport and drops Mitchell and Reese off at the US Embassy and proceeds to the morgue.
Poacher Camp Delta
Burke passes through the camp and reviews the number of cages with illegal animals. Now wearing a safari outfit and Australian fedora. Burke is joined by his second in command a Cham man wearing a lab-coat and BDUS. “I take it Dr. Wen, the animals are right for the experiments?”
“They will do Cap'n but I need to draw blood from the animals and I only have a few technicians who know where the blood vessels are. I need more help.”
“Do what you can, Dr. Wen; Dr. Shihik wants answers and not delays for his genetic army of super-soldiers. Or do I need to hire another misplaced veterinarian.”
“I will do as you wish Cap'n.”
“Good, now if you excuse me I have clients to call.”
The small doctor walks over to an orangutan and reaches into his medicine bag. Mumbling to himself. “What I do for biological and veterinary sciences?” He is joined by a pair of vet technicians each holding a taser pistol.
The two men stuns the orangutan as Dr. Wen draws blood from the stunned animal who cries in pain..
City Morgue
Dr. Kim and her assistants start to review the body that has been badly singed by the jungle animals and humidity. Removing a scapal; Dr. Kim in surgical gear starts to perform the autopsy on the young man. “Well Daunte, what can you tell me that the authorities do not.” Shaman steps out of the OR and is joined by Eva Fern. “Not a fan of autopsies, Agent High-eagle?”
“I've spent a lot of time helping people not doing what Dr. Kim does with people. I am more a healer than a forensic pathologist.”
“I'll buy you Yanks some coffee its not Starbucks but it will do. I will share with you my experiences in autopsies as well.”
“Strong words for a women who cares for animals.”
“Animals are simpler than people I remember one necropsy where I first was an apprentice of the task force.” The two step away from the OR
Two hours later
The government agents and D-7 law team sit in a conference room where Dr. Kim stands and
takes center stage concerning her findings. ”I have worked out a possible blueprint of TOD and COD. It seems Mr. Scott the Vic was killed five days ago and his cause of death was a .38 caliber
to his stomach. He suffered badly and loss a lot of blood. Though possibly concious for two hours he died of loss of blood and infection”
“So the ME was correct about the .38 caliber but did not do a detailed look at the VIC, am I
correct Kim?” comments Reese Williams a typical Texas cowhand with dark brown hair and a
wind burnt face.
“That's correct Reese.. It took the ME a little shorter because they only had the mininum stuff for an autopsy but thanks to Dr. Jinn's Forensic case it made it a lot more detailed.”
“So what do you think he came across a bad hunt and got caught in the middle?” comments
Gurney.
“Its possible but it does appear he was holding something before he was killed.”
Mitchell rises from his seat and sips a glass of iced tea and looks at the photos borrowed from
the Sumatran authorities. “Eva what can you tell me about these pictures of animals.?”
“It looks like the victim was on the west coast of the island a short 2-3 hr flight by helicopter. It
also looks like he was tracking both the animals and poachers for several days.”
“Make a few calls Eva, and we will head out west.”
Three and half hours, next day
The team now dressed in jungle camo BDUS and wearing Kevlar vests and carrying hand guns are joined by a National Police Force Unit of SWAT commandos familiar with anti-poaching
tactics. Walking through the high jungle grass the unit comes to the location where the body was found.
The lead Cham officer he speaks to the Americans with an Aussie accent. 'This is where we
found the remains Agents. I think you will have a hard time finding any evidence for the crime but feel free to look for yourselves my men shall secure the area.”
“Thank you inspector has your CSU team gone over the area. .”
“We are not advances as you, Yanks but we did secure the scene and than moved out Agent Mitchell.”
“Can you send me the CSU finds to my smartphone, Inspector.”
“Give me a moment I need to contact intelligence for the paperwork, Agent Mitchell.”
“Thanks, Gurney and Shaman do your thing. Reese start to estimate the crime scene perimeter where it starts. Eva you are with me.”
The D-7 Justice team goes to work as Mitchell's smartphone rings of the incoming reportsrom police intelligence.. ' Hmm... its says there was a set of tiger paw prints and they seemed to be lifted up by something. They also found what appears to be something brought down hard. Not sure what could have been brought down but the tiger being lifted off the ground tells you what
Eva?”
“Can I have a look at those photos Agent Mitchell?”
“I'm no expert but this is your expertise I'm just a CSU guy new to poaching.” Mitchell hands his smartphone over to the Game Warden. Eva slides through the pictures quickly as Shaman and
Gurney return back to crime scene.
“Definitely a Poaching OP and if you look to the west of us there is that mountain that proves we seem to be in the location.”
“So what do you deduct Eva?”
“The poachers are no rookies but you would expect them to use more advanced traps not simple ones. Though I am curious what the poachers used to bring down the animal.”
Switching smartphones Eva looks over the pictures the team reviewed before they got here. “Hmm...bloody hell?”
'What's up Eva?” comments Reese on his return from marking the perimeters.
“Those damn poachers were after both the tiger and Sumatara Cuckoo I've seen these jerks before. I need to make a few calls, if you excuse me.”
Inspector Shi-lin returns and shows a look of concern in his eyes. “Agents, please come with me.” Mitchell and his team follow the Indonesian Inspector. The group joins the Indonesian police SWAT team. The SWAT team surround a corpse on the ground. “This is new though it is not human it has a potential to be part of this investigation.” Shi-lin steps aside as
Mitchell and his team spot the corpse of an Orangtutan.
Eva runs over and leans down on the Orangtutan. Tears run down her eyes as she spots the
animal left behind by the poachers. “This Orangtutan was not doing a thing but those bastards kill it for no reason at all. We need to find them Agent Mitchell.”
“We will Eva.” Storms clouds begin to open up with rain.
Three days later
Three Black-hawk helicopters head to a position further SW the operation known as Rope-Break is the title of the OP that were closing in on the poachers. Thanks to a few underworld
contacts of Eva and Inspector Shi-lin who managed to get the designated target in the SW portion of Sumatra. Armed with a team of Detachment 88 commandos Mitchell and others join the OP.
WHUP WHUP WHUP
The commandos rappel down the hoist lines of the Black-hawk helicopters a team of 18 men the commandos led by Inspector Shi-lin and Mitchell head for the poachers camp a three mile trek in
Sumatara jungles. Clad in jungle camo BDUS and Kevlar vests the commandos flank and surround the poacher's camp.
Taking point an EOD commando known as Shell-break searches for booby traps set up by the poachers. Raising his arm to have the team HALT Shell-break pulls out his EOD tools and
approaches a trip wire snipping it with a pair of wire clippers. Signaling to move forward the unit continues forward as Mitchell and Inspector Shi-lin get a RECON report of the camp.
The camp has a number of jungle camo Humvees armed with .50 caliber machine gun turrets. In addition the poachers patrol the ground with Chinese AKMs and Hunting Rifles, most of
the poachers appear to be Chinese, Tamil or Cham and wear tactical harnesses along with jungle camo BDUS.
Working out a plan the Detachment 88 commandos and D7 commandos begin to surround the camp and await commands by Shi-lin and Mitchell. Using a bullhorn Shil-in identifies
himself to the poachers. Speaking in both Chinese and Tamil he emphasizes his procedures.
“ Poachers! This is Indonesian Police lay down your arms and Surrender.”
Hearing the warning, the Poachers raise their weapons and open fire on the commandos.
RAT-TAT-TAT.
“Return Fire. Follow Rules of Engagement.” Orders Shi-lin The Commandos raise their assault rifles and return fire.
PUT-PUT-PUT
Mitchell signals his men to assist the National Police Commandos. “Reese, Shaman, and Gurney. Open Up.” The D7 commandos open up with their borrowed AR-15 assault rifles on
the Poachers.
Burke looks at the hot zone. “Damn-it! Close Shop NOW!. As he fires off with his Tokarev machine pistol.
POP-POP-POP
A whistling rocket is released on the commandos. Shells away at a group of Commandos
“SHIT! They have RPGS! Badge!” yells Reese.
Mitchell acknowledges his second in command and speaks in his radio. “ Shaman, make a sniper nest we need some Sniper Power.”
“Understood, Chief.” Shaman brushes away a series of jungle bushes and raises his .308 FBI HRT Sniper rifle at the poachers.
Bang Bang Bang
As the skirmish continues, Dr. wen starts to release the evidence of poaching animals but is
quickly attacked by the Orangtutan his men tasered. “NOOO! BURKE!
Burke shakes his head and runs to a Euro-copter starting to turn its propellers. As he boards it while the Commandos breach the camp.
After breaching the camp the commandos attempt to stop the Euro-copter from taking off but they are too late as a number of animals block their paths in the camp. Raising a series of tranquilizer guns the commandos manage to secure the camp and the animals.
Two days later
Eva Fern finishes checking off the amount of animals the poachers attempt to take from heir habitat. Mitchell joins her with his team and looks in her direction. “So Eva, how did we
do securing the camp?”
Eva looks at Mitchell with a sigh of relief in her blue-green eyes but she still shows a look of concern in the future. “Thank You ,Agent Mitchell this is just one poaching camp there are many others out there. Why were there so many blood lab-work vials did you find out?”
Mitchell shakes his head. “No, just another mystery on what the poachers were up to and none of arrested poachers said anything. They were all clueless on what their superiors were doing.
Just another mystery to solve.”
Japanese War Memorial Shrine.
Burke is greeted by a group of Shinto priests who prevent him from entering the shrine. An elderly man with a Fu Manchu mustache is flanked by a group of bodyguards in dark suits
as he wears the traditional Shinto priest wear.
“Dr. Shihik, I assume the vials were expedited for your research?” Comments Burke who wears a dark suit like the bodyguards.
“It is satisfactory, Captain Burke but I need more vials to finish my experiments for my Crimean Directorate Masters and the new U-531. Can you concur?”
“I will prepare another team and head for the African jungles. I am sure we can find what you want without interference by the Black Mamba Rangers.”
“I hope you are correct, Sea-wolf. If you excuse me.” Shihik leaves with his bodyguards and the Shinto preists back to the War Memorial Shrine.
