Wind carried secrets far and wide; their merciful but menacing nature made it impossible to distinguish them between a friend or a foe. Gutters spat out water like secrets. Penetrating the ambiance, the hymn of matrimony rang in his ears. The white washed walls suffocated behind the cabinets and tables; whilst they panted for air. Sitting proudly in the middle of a destitute village; a fairly small cottage stood. However, everything was perfect; the flower pots were in arrays the.... “Thomas, Thomas. Does she know?” asked Mrs Smi...

As night fell the blue haze of day lifted to reveal the stars. I always felt that this was closer to the truth of who we are. Stars shone as sugar spilt over black marble, glistening in the sun. The night sky was such a welcome sight, appearing like magic at each sunset, promising to return as she faded in dawn's first light. Sipping my coffee I could feel the tepid, overly bitter flavour and it was lacking real cream. However, it was a source of caffeine so I drank it heartily like a sailor drinking his whiskey. Gripping my hands along...

Living in a palace is not all bad; there are some benefits that come into it such as not having anyone to talk to or having a set routine; which is monitored. Furthermore, not getting the choice to make your own decisions. Wait these are all the bad things. I don’t think there are actually any benefits. Well I would describe the palace as a cage; a cage where you can’t get out whatsoever. I feel like I’m a prisoner; suffocating here having no air to breathe and slowly drowning. I’m trapped and there is no way out. I search for someth...

I may have stolen someone else’s idea. Well I do feel guilty about it but I had to do it; I had no choice. It all started about a month ago. I was in my office working on my theory; I was figuring out how energy, mass and the speed of light relate together. However, I couldn’t figure this problem out; it had been subconsciously eating me up every day. My sleepless nights were worsening every day. That day I had gotten kicked out of my job; they said that I wasn’t coming into work often and that I was always late; well they weren’t wro...

Ring “Hey Carter, come to dinner tonight” said Jeremy “no excuses allowed. I will be waiting for you; you better make it on time.” Reluctantly, Carter had to go to dinner. Jeremy said that there will be 2 other people and that it is a good opportunity to make some new friends. Carter and Jeremy were friends since college; they practically knew everything about each other. However, they were known to be always polar opposites. Carters mum would say that Jeremy is the son that she never had; which makes him feel guilty. Carter hates...

“Can you keep a secret?” Asked Natalie. “Of course” I replied. “Will you promise not to tell anyone” she asked. “YES!” I all but shouted. I really wanted to know this secret. We knew everything about each other like the back of our hand. The reason: Natalie is my best friend. Our mums were best friends in college which automatically made us besties. Darting her eyes around like a maniac, she scanned the whole room to make sure that Jessica wasn’t there. “Do you remember the dress that Jessica got me for my birthday” she question...
For the first time in our lives we can afford to go private. I expected to be eaten up by guilt, knowing how bad the other system is. But being in this room is like walking into an expensive New York coffee shop. There are flowers, beautiful paintings, leather chairs and soft music. On the wall is a plasma screen and the bed looks so comfortable. Just one foot in the door and I'm as relaxed as I would be in a hotel. The hospital room is more like a garden, how many things have changed in the past thirty years. The roof is clear giving ...

Burning my skin like lava, the blistering heat was scorching my body. Even the best sunscreen couldn’t protect me from this unexpected disaster. My amours grew heavier by the second. Trickling down my face, my saline sweat etched scars onto my skin. Screaming in pain my skin bared the misfortune. “I hate this heat” I bellowedIt was only 09:30 and the temperature was 60 degrees. Soaked right through, my clothes were pretty much wet. One thought came into my head: I loathe the heat and it is my enemy. I remember a time when me and m...
