The train was packed but not so full that every seat was filled. I got the ticket from my uncle. He told me on the tracks "Remember, when you're in the village just ask for Peter. Everyone knows Peter, it's a small place." I hadn't been out of the city since I was a kid. Growing up we'd go out to one of the village's my uncle described but that stopped when ma and pa divorced. Since then I lived in Libertia. Sure it was a smelly city, full of shit, gangsters, and wannabe's, but it was my city, ya know? It was were I grew up. I moved in with ...

Eggs, milk, radishes and cream. I might as well get sugar, we were low anyway. It should have been so simple, a quick in and out before the blizzard comes. Then all of a sudden this bastard hit so hard you could only see whiteness outside. It reminded me of the fuzz you see on TV, that static. It would just fizz and fuzz and the wind rustling and bustling outside in a whirl and twirl definitely sounded like the static. I stared out of the doors as I had took my basket for my shopping, it was just so perplexing. So sudden as well. I c...

It was a calm sunny day in the park in my district when I noticed my gift. There was a single pigeon waltzing around and a few ducks around the lake, as they meandered around looking for food and bits they could scrounge up. As always an elderly man would come by with a bag of old dry bread, the bread I assumed was bread he'd bought specifically for the purpose of feeding the ducks and the pigeons and, occasionally, swans. I didn't have the patience or nerve to tell him that he should not feed them bread. Corn, frozen peas, oats or s...

Excavated Audio Log #670281-DFLog 1 of 11 *rustling noises* Alright, test, test. This thing on? I dunno. Ah, the time is going forward. Alright, hey, it's me. Well, me being Paul. What's up? Haha... this is awkward. It's like I am talking to myself but out loud. You know? Well, how would you know. You're a-a... a machine, just a device. You don't know how we could feel, or think, or act. You don't think! Maybe you will one day. Could you imagine that? Machines that think! I've heard rumour of it, but never thought it could be a thing.&n...

Harold was already late for the meeting. He had decided to take it slow today, have a nice cup of coffee at the café near work. As usual though, he got caught up in his head and ended up savouring the coffee for far too long."Damn my good taste," he cursed himself under his breath as he relished in the memory of the delicious Brazilian coffee that tantalized his mouth only moments before. He rushed to the elevator and pushed his floor, 23. He sighed and realized he would be late for the meeting if he waited for the elevator. He saw the number...

"Did you get my email?" the voice came out of the blue, a void, for his mind was already somewhere far away, relaxing at home."Huh?" he replied, startled to the presence by the colleague. Alex asked Dan again."Dan, did you get my email? The customer wants some big changes, we have a meeting to discuss it on Thursday," Alex summarized his own email he had sent to Dan once again, who sighed realizing that this was a 'gentle reminder'."Oh yeah, I skimmed it. Thursday to discuss it?" Dan replied, opening Outlook only to scroll past the emai...

A broken heart hurts. I still remember the weekend when my heart shattered. I had been, I presumed, romantically pursuing a colleague from my workplace at the time. She was leaving the company so I figured it would be even better to pursue the romance. I write pursue, for it was not an equal dance of two partners, it was a chase. Every step I took towards her, I could sense that she took two back, looking back. At the time of course I was head over heels and ignored any signs, all the signs. That weekend the signs were clear as day, though I ...

If only there was something decent on the TV. It was the same novela that was on as usual at this time and he couldn't help but slowly get attached to the drama within. Aracely truly deserved Yenifer, but he definitely understood why she was secretly in love with Dora, whilst being married to Jeremías. It was a love pentagram? Thinking too much about it confused him but he enjoyed the distraction."I hope it will be calm today," Martin quipped as he prepared the cigarettes for the two of them."I doubt it. People overdo it this time of year," ...
