TW: suicide Is it third of March ? Or fourth already ? I can't seem to remember it. I rummaged through my drawer looking for something , a knickknack to recall the date. I didn't have newspapers , or phone ,for that matter. A middle aged woman who had voluntarily abandoned the society didn't need to possess those. She didn't care for the world or the people . Is it March ? A tear-off calendar of 2008 laid amidst pointed pliers and colorful plastic wires. It wasn't 2008 anymore. I was sure of that. The first three years I had stayed in an slo...

Shriya isn't here. I don't know where she is. But people ask. " Hey, where's Shriya?" The curious eyes, expectant minds and theories about her whereabouts make me choke on my saliva. I check my messages, if she has texted. NoneI check my feed, if she has posted about her whereabouts. None.I Google ' the girl who disappeared from a farewell party.' None of my interest. ***"Would you like some tea?"" Yeah, some tea would be great.""Mind you though, our tea differs."" Let me guess, is it sweet and milky or watery a...

I stroll on the golden sands of Tarina. It feels pillow soft to my worn-out feet. Far off in the lush, crystal blue sky a lone falcon glides over the waters. The fading sun kisses the sea intimately and leaves orange remnants of its love in the sapphire blue waves. Spring is near, the season of revival and rejuvenation…the season of parsley-green meadows and of strawberry ice cream…the season of snow-white dandelions and of unripe mangoes. I can taste the pear fresh sweetness in the salty air of the sea. I must go befo...

The parrot kept on hurling abuses at no one in particular. It looked like he was having a nervous breakdown. He choked a squawk and bit his feather. He tried to smash his head on the bars of his jail. He threw the plate of rice. Our gardener said he had likely seen a cat or a snake. You see, fear evokes rush.So he was brought out of his 'safe' locker and placed on the empty bed, nudged by soft pillows. His master was my grandfather. The bed belonged to my father. And this said parrot was the ‘Master of arts of expletives’.I wasn’t born in a ...

Her head lays on my knees near the road side. Her left cheek has a scratch. You couldn't tell by just looking at her face that she has been hit. Her determined eyes are fierce like a lioness. Her limbs seem to be out of place now, possibly the bones there lost their place. And her green polka dot shirt is shredded and soiled with blood. She spits and jerks her head thrice. "Please tell Mia , her mom will have got her back... always." she huffs and struggles to breath. Her eyeball wobbles."Sure ma'am, stay with me. Let me find...

Hey there! I am Beach (Shaile love beaches and I am a female as a matter of fact). Day1Mom gave chicken for dinner. Then she was talking to Shaile on phone and she looked tense. Dad kept his eyes glued to the television but I know he was eavesdropping on mom. He does that quite a few times and talks to me about it when mom takes her beauty nap. That night I dreamt of pouring soya sauce on that white cat, the Sharma family brought home. Would kill to see the cat turn into coal black! Coal in town…oh sorry my bad, Cat in town.Day2Mom...
