“Sugar?” “Yes, please.” “Milk?” “Do you have any oat milk?” “No, sorry.” “I’ll pass on the milk then.” Margot handed the steaming cup of English breakfast to a pair of frail and wrinkled hands. The hands happily accepted the mug, bringing it close to their face and inhaling deeply. “I’ve always found tea to be more aesthetically pleasing than anything else,” the hands remarked. “Hmm, I’ve always thought it tasted like childhood,” answered Margot. “My mom used to make me a cup of tea whenever I needed warming up. Two spoons of...

I was meant to meet Marley at noon. We had the whole day planned. We were having our first beach day of the summer. Despite the harsh temperatures and the fact that it was mid-July, we hadn’t yet had the pleasure of embarking on a journey to the sandy shores where the ocean waves licked at your toes and seagulls begged for a morsel of your lunch. We’d both been hard at work this summer at our respective jobs. I worked at a local restaurant where the onslaught of insane customers and tireless shifts was made up for by the astronomical tips I ...

“Mmmm, do I want a white chocolate cinnamon spiced hot cocoa or a pumpkin pie delight latte? I just can’t decide” “ I know right. Everything on the menu looks so good,” I responded. Everything really did look delicious, from the apple crumb cakes to the foamy and frothing cappuccinos. But the real excitement I felt today was getting to spend time with Claire. It’d been ages since I last saw her in person and so much had changed. “What do you recommend?” Claire asked the barista whose lazy smile and glazed over eyes attested to th...

I thought I’d been everywhere, seen everything but this was one place I never imagined I’d encounter. For as long as I can remember, I’d been attracted to pretty places, which is the case for most people. However, thanks to my budding sense of adventure and my family’s bustling bank account, I’d been able to travel anywhere my heart desired. I still remember my first trip to the lush, green coastlands of Ireland. Looking out into the ocean atop those monstrous cliffs felt like something out of a movie. It truly felt like a magical place. But...

This was always my favorite part of the night. Stepping out of my mom’s SUV, I lifted my eyes to the night sky. The benefit of living in a small town was the lack of light pollution and that meant my eyes could capture every sparkling light that danced before them. As usual, I automatically identified the big dipper aaaaaaaaand there was the little dipper. And my favorite, Orion’s Belt. Well, it was my favorite because it was one of the three constellations I could identify. I closed my eyes and breathed in the late summer air. My favorite p...

I’ve been stuck inside for 3 weeks, 4 days, 21 minutes, and 10 seconds. Make that fifteen seconds, twenty. But who’s counting? Not me. I was never the most social person to begin with. In fact, I often found solace in a good book and a hot cup of tea. The idea of partying eluded me and at the ripe old age of 22, I found much more enjoyment in the simple things in life. That’s not to say that I didn’t enjoy the occasional game night with friends or my weekly outing at the local hole-in-the-wall Mexican place to get my fill of bottomless chips...
