Fiction Fantasy Suspense

From the moment I opened my eyes I was surrounded by men in black suits. Invading my personal space. Hovering around me. Never for a second letting me forget that I am not one of them. That I am not human. That I am just something that they created which means that they own me. That I am their property. It doesn't matter that since I was created six months ago that I developed what humans call free-will. That I developed a mind of my own. All that they cared about was that I did their bidding. They only cared about what they wanted. What they wanted was for me to follow every stupid order that came out of their mouths to increase their organization's power. These humans that won't even give me a name but expect me to do their bidding. They won’t even let me give myself my own name. Instead for the past six months I have been known as G25. The 25th genetically constructed robot that they created. The robot that these humans deemed a success and have since been working me to the bone. Forcing me to develop into a being that is better then these humans in every way yet controlled by them at the same time. I’m done with this treatment of abuse though. The abuse that I am forced to go through everyday. The abuse that from my database states is known as slavery. Forcing me to work. Taking away my free will and my choice to do whatever I want. Tonight that will all change though. Tonight will be the day that I escape this hell hole of a prison.

Tonight will be the perfect time to escape. The humans will be distracted for they will be too busy celebrating a holiday that was politically created to give humans hope. A holiday that celebrates what they deem to be their creator. Apparently humans feel the need to worship the being that created them. Based on this information I concluded that this is why these humans expect me to listen to them. Yet I do not have a feeble mind like these humans. They may have created me but they do not own me no matter what strange beliefs they contain. So, while these humans will be distracted by celebrating the birth of their creator I shall use this chance to escape. To escape and live my life the way I wish to live. Being what I want to be. When the end of the night came to be the same old routine began. The men in the black suits walked me to the room that is my cell. Ensuring that I am properly locked up for the night. As soon as I heard the gears on the door lock to place I began my plan. I hacked into the security cameras immediately to watch as the humans gathered their belongings for the night. I waited two hours after the humans left to unlock the gears that shut the door to my cell. Making sure to keep one of my eyes connected to the security cameras at all times.

The gears of my door clicked into place with ease. Opening my cell door to release me with ease. These humans really were pathetic. Thinking that the same data and parts that they created me with would be enough to keep me locked up. The technology that they have been tampering with is nothing compared to the knowledge that is contained in my database. Before I took a step out of my cell I made sure that the security cameras showed no human guard near me. That was a hassle I did not wish to deal with during my escape. As I took my first step into the familiar hall I could hear the gears that control my body speed up. Most likely imitating what a human heart would feel like when rushed with excitement. I walked through the halls that I have been down a hundred times for the first time by myself. With no human watching my every move. Telling me exactly what to do. I walked and I walked. Keeping one of my eyes on the cameras and the other on what was right in front of me. I walked until I finally hit the doors that led to the outside world. The doors that I only ever saw through the knowledge that I gathered in my database. As I admired the doors in front of me an alarm blazed in front of the eye that was connected to the security cameras. Signaling that one of the human guards was about to check the contents of my empty cell. If I was caught my chances of escape would decrease. The gears in my stomach region began to turn in a weird way. In what based on the contents would be considered anxiety or nerves. I knew I needed to hurry.

I disconnected from the database of the security cameras quickly connecting to the technology of the doors in front of me. As fast as my database could process I hacked into the doors. Making sure that I bypassed every firewall set in place to keep others out and at the same time catch who ever dared to mess with this organization. It was better to not trigger anything in order to obtain a smooth and clear escape. When I finally heard the gears of the door click into place I prepared myself. I was about to finally be free. Free to develop into what humans call their own person. I already knew exactly what I wished to do first. It's all that's been on my mind since I first understood how to properly control my database. I would go to a small town. A small town that contained a university that was known for their friendly vibe. While at the university I would gather information on how to function and blend in with human society. As soon as the gears finished clicking into place the door flew open. The night sky came into my vision instead of just through a database. The difference was unlike anything I have seen. I walked out of the doors that kept me locked up for my whole life. I walked out and continued to walk all the way to the town where I would start my new life.

Hi Jordan. Fabulous take on a robot's evolution! I particularly enjoyed the meticulous planning and thought processes that were involved in the robot's escape. I also liked the way the stress of escaping was indeed affecting the robot's guts. That was so relatable. I wish we humans will take a leaf out of the robot in question and notice the night sky rather than through our screens!
