It was fastigium; the night of migration day where all sorts of creatures and even people were roaming their new city. A lot of peculiar things took place on that night and the crime rates were at their apex.
“Another one bites the dust.” I said as I heard a distant scream. I was not foolish enough to ever leave my cave on such a death promising night. Although I was special and I could do some supernatural things, I preferred to be one of the normals.
My kettle whistled and I served myself a delicious green tea. Before I could take one peaceful sip, I felt a presence behind me and in an instant there was a strong hand around my throat.
“The audacity thy has to sip on a lavish drink on a night ye this.” The man who I identified as an Acorn spoke. “Nothing in my nature screams blood thirsty unlike you.” I retorted causing him to tighten his fingers around my neck. Gasping for air, I refused to let out the beast in me.
I had had enough practice regarding that Acorn attacks were a usual in my routine. It was particularly in their nature to determine the life in every being; human or supernatural. Humans would be left to society and weak supernaturals were made into puppets and servants. And me posing as a human raised a lot of brows.
“I’m just a human. Let go of me.” I pled with the man.
“Thy refuse to believe. Ye has a special power and thy will force it out of you.” He said wringing my throat.
“Leave the innocent human alone.” I heard a voice shout as the Acorn was dragged out of my cave. Looking out, I saw that my savior was a normal looking man. He bit the Acorn to a pulp until it lost its power and melted to nothing.
“You’re welcome.” The handsome but arrogant man spoke as he walked towards the entry to my cave. “I didn’t ask for your help.” I snarled sticking my hand out restricting access.
“How do you intend on living through the 3rd fastigium without a supernatural’s help. Unless you’re a supernatural yourself.” He smirked. Knowing that I had to compromise my own privacy to keep my secret, I let out a defeated sigh.
“Welcome to my home, my name’s Chanel.” I said opening the door for him to enter.
“Good girl.” He smirked.
It had been an hour since I offered the stranger a hot beverage and I showed him his room for the night. He hadn’t left the room and all I could hear were hisses and grunts. Without knocking, I entered the room to find what was once a man had fox ears and glowing eyes. I had obviously seen kitsune in my wild city but what attracted me the most was the large cut on his back. He growled in pain as he removed one of the many shards in his cut.
“Hey, hey stop.” I said holding my small hand over his rough one. He stared down at me and I could see the hurt in his eyes; one deeper than the obvious physical agony.
“Let me help.” I told him.
Laying him stomach down on the bed, I licked up his back tracing the path of his cut.
“If you wanted some physical action, you could’ve just asked.” He said scoffing. I didn’t even get to retort before he screamed in pain as I held him down. A few minutes later, he was stilled and I knew that the venom was kicking in.
“You have venomous saliva, don’t you?’ He asked thinking that it would kill him.
“Don’t worry, it’ll only paralyze your whole body for a few minutes. So are you going to tell me how this happened to you.” I spoke as I carefully took out the shards of sword in his deep cut. He refused to talk until I threatened to poison him again.
“Okay no need to be savage, I’ll talk. My fastigium hideout was attacked by a large reptilian creature. It killed my mom and my three brothers. I was able to getaway but not in the best shape as you can see.” He told me without a hint of grief. I knew his kind for not getting too attached unless intentioned.
“I’m sorry.” I said nonetheless.I tried my best to keep him talking so that he wouldn’t fall unconscious as I pulled out his cause of pain.
“So why do you pretend to be human when you’re obviously not?” He questioned to which I told him my whole truth and most importantly, the fact that I didn’t want to be an Acorn servant.
“Who knew ugly girls could also be cold-blooded.” He mocked me and I pushed a shard deeper into him. “Argh.” He grunted.
When I pulled out the last piece, I saw his skin starting to pull together as he healed. Before I could continue being amazed by the healing of a kitsune, the man spun me over such that he was on top. He straddled my lap and held my hands above me. The way his striking eyes looked down at me sent me into overdrive. I was never one to be triggered by intimacy, but this man could do it without a shadow of a doubt.
The animal in me was begging to be set free as the stranger lowered his weight onto me. I didn’t know how my kind could feel so strongly for his kind but the deep connection made me identify him as a potential mate. I was still in a whirl of thoughts when he attached his plump lips to my soft ones. My stomach burst as I moved my lips against his. I lost control as my degenerate animal surfaced causing a soft growl to escape my lips.
The man’s hands ran down the length of my body leaving trails of burning flames below my skin. It was getting heated when he pulled away looking deep into my eyes as if searching for a soul.
“It’s you.” He said before softly biting my colar bone and licking away the pain. I gasped. “Did you just mark me.” I chuckled. “You don’t seem mad.” He smiled. I knew that marking me meant that no other guy would be with me as I would reek of his strong masculine scent. It didn’t anger me for I knew that I had just found my lover in a stranger.
I stole another deep passionate kiss making sure that my tongue wouldn’t poison him. Rolling him over so that I was on top and straddling him, I kissed down his bare chest to which he shuddered. I smiled knowing that I already had an effect on him.
After an eternity of canoodling, the friendly stranger and I made it under the covers. I laid my head on his warm chest while he hugged me tightly against his body.
“Kaori.” He whispered.
“What?”
“You didn’t ask my name. It’s Kaori.” He told me and I chuckled embarrassed of myself.
