It was a nice afternoon in the forest, breezy, damp, and warm, all at the same time. I went on a walk, greeting every one of the animals. “Good afternoon Noir!”

“Good day.”, the black panther replied sleepily.

“Good afternoon Grizz.”

“Afternoon' kid.”, a brown bear said, itching his back with his long claws.

I passed by every one of the animals until I saw a beautiful chipmunk in a filled berry bush.

I asked,” Hey there, are you new around here?”

“Indeed I am human, what is your name?”, he asked.

I could tell that if he had a human form, he’d be nerdy.

“I am Alyssa, daughter of the baker and coffee maker in town!”, I answered.

“A name that means alyssum and, or sanity. Nice to meet you!”, he said scientifically.

“Nice to meet you too, um, what’s your name?”, I asked, realizing I did not know his name.

“I am Simon and I have two brothers named Alvin and Theodore.”, he told me.

“Well haha! Nice to meet you, Simon!”

We both laughed and decided to hang out for a while. We got to know each other and I jokingly asked:

“Will you be my boyfriend?”

He went silent for a minute.

“You o-”, I started to ask but then he interrupted with:

"Okay, I have thought about it and I will gladly become your boyfriend.”

“I-I- Wait w-what?-”, I stuttered.

He said, “You asked, didn’t you? Or am I having a problem with my hearing?”

“No no no, your ears are fine Simon! I just was saying it as a joke but okay!”, I explained, blushing but not so intensely.

We hung out for another hour.

I soon said, “Simon, I need to go home now. I will certainly be back tomorrow!”

“Okay Alyssa, have a nice night!”, he replied, waving his small paw.

I waved back and left to go home. Once I got home, I immediately could smell the scent of apple tart and coffee.

“That smells amazing Mama!”, I said happily.

“Thank you. You seem extremely happy this evening, what happened?”, she answered.

“I got myself a smart boyfriend! Though he’s a chipmunk.”, I said, scratching my head with my finger.

Papa said, “ A boyfriend? Who knew you’d date at such a young age!”

“Oh hush, you dated at like, 15 or 16!”, my Mama said, waving her whisk around.

“She’s 17! She’s old enough to date and mature enough!”

“Yeah Papa!”, I said, chuckling.

We ate dinner and then I took a shower. After ten minutes of hot water sprinkling on my body, I went to bed. That night, I had a dream that Simon cheated on me! Crazy right?

I got up the next morning to the smell of crepes and a double shot of espresso.

“Hi Mama and Papa.”, I yawned, rubbing my eyes.

“Hi, I made your favorite! The powdered sugar is in the pantry.”, Mama said, not taking her eyes off the pan.

“Okay!”, I replied, running to the pantry filled with many ingredients.

I got the powdered sugar and grabbed five crepes, plopped it on my plate, and showered them with cinnamon powdered sugar. “Yummm.”, I said, staring at the hill and cloud of sugar.

I quickly stuffed them all in my mouth and ran to the forest once again. It was just slightly foggy but nothing too serious!

“Good morning Ms. Charlotte!”, I greeted the cleanest pig in the world.

“Why hello Alyssa!”, she said back.

“Hi Viridi!”, I said, waving by an old tortoise.

“Oh hello, child.”, he said slowly.

I got to the berry bush where I met Simon the day before.

“Simon!”, I yelled out.

“Hello, Alyssa! How are you today?”, Simon said, poking his head out a tree branch.

“Hi, Simon! I’m great today! What about you?”, I asked.

“I’m good. I just finished breakfast with my brothers.”, he replied.

I told him that was good and we got to hang out once again. I also, once again jokingly said:

” Will you marry me?”

He went silent.

“Okay, I will marry you. You are funny, caring, and so much more.” “Awwww! That’s so sweet!”, I said, holding my face.

I got a piece of ripe branch and shaved it with a smooth yet sharp rock. I then cut it to a perfect size for Simon’s tiny finger. I made a knot to tie the two sides together and placed it gently on Simon’s finger. We both smiled and some of my friends and their friends came over. They greeted the animals just like everyone else does when passing by.

“Oh hey, Alyssa!”, my friend Isabella yelled out.

“I brought Cayden over if you don’t mind!”

“I don’t mind at all.”, I said.

I said hi to the rest of my friends that came over to join Simon and me.

I was talking with my friend named Kate when I saw Cayden and Simon talking like they were awfully close. I thought nothing of it until it was time to go back home.

“Bye guys!”, I said, waving at my group of pals.

They too said goodbye, but I didn’t see Cayden with them. I turned around to see Cayden handing Simon a pinecone! It basically means going on a date since chipmunks like the inside of it or something. I watched them but did not make it too obvious. Simon took the pinecone, and I was thinking,

” He’ll definitely decline it!”

But nooooo, HE ACCEPTED IT! So he was bisexual or something? Nothing was wrong with being that sexuality but cheating? That’s a big problem. All of us sudden, a female chipmunk jumped out of a tree, landed on Simon, and started tackling him!

“HOW DARE YOU DATE ANOTHER!? CHEATING IS NOT A NICE THING!!”, she hissed.

Cayden and I were in shock.

“It was him, that’s the one he’s dating!”, I blurted out, pointing at Cayden.

“HAH!? A BOY!?”, she screeched.

She jumped onto Cayden’s face and scratched his face. “AH!”, Cayden screamed.

“I’m glad I’m not the one to deal with that.”, I thought, walking away and saying good night to each and every one of the animals.

Moral of the Story,

DON'T DATE A CHIPMUNK!
