Tap. Tap. Tap.

Til the fingers become bloodied.

Til the carpel becomes tunnelled.

”Get your tickets now.”

The station announcer bellowed. Over the tiny, tiny speakers.

(Or yesterday).

Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!As he laughed a hearty and somewhat disturbing cackle.

The two friends sat side by side. Worried brows and scrunched up shoulders. Sitting on their respective beds. Within feet of one another pretending to express words of support for one another, as they tapped away on their numerous spread apart devices—when in fact they were hoping the others device would self explode while they both self imploded in a haze of desperation. Hoping the other would fall flat on their face.

Secretly wishing and inwardly hoping:

They would be the one who would yell “I got ‘em” while the other had to feign happiness.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Swear words. Cuss words followed the harried attempts to “get through”, the maze and the haze. Periodic sounds of punched fists on the wall.

It was gonna be a long day.

They had 8 hours.

Eight long hours.

Eight short hours.

Depending on how one looked at it.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Jealous. Envy. Is as unproductive as tap, tap, tapping……and more tapping.

Jealousy can make strange bed fellows.

It can be suspicious or reactive.

Hoarding is a disease.

Committing an offense is, well, offensive.

Jealousy is seen in all cultures.

It is experienced in human relationships, in infants as young as five months.(wk)

It can be suspicious or reactive (the devil loves the dance). It is often reinforced as a series of particularly strong emotions and constructed as a universal human experience. (wk)

What constitutes the jealousy in all of us is as individual as what lies deep down in all of us. With no space for the temptations of the devil 👿 who comes in may different sizes, shapes and faces. Usually originating from deep with in.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Tap. Tap. tap.

Jealousy is an expression of expressions, in art, films, songs, plays, poems, and books and theological have offered views of its interplay within our lives.

William Shakespeare coined the phrase “The Green-Eyed Monster” with the use of color: The color of green has been associated with jealousy and envy (which are similar, but not the same), 🤢🤑from which the expression “green with envy” is derived.

Studies have been done regarding jealousy, through which a single emotion or a single behavior does not denote it. Persons instead express jealousy through diverse emotions and behaviors, which make it difficult to form a scientific definition of jealousy.(wk)

It can be as complex as thoughts, feelings, and actions which follows threats to self-esteem and/or threats to the quality of a relationship. An aversive reaction of a partner’s extradyadic relationship, A cognitive, emotional and behavioral response to a relationship threat. A third party interrelationship.

Further, a defensive reaction as a perceived threat to a valued relationship.

A triad. Of interconnection. A presumption of protection for their attachment relationships. A slacker knows how fast a relationship can begin or end………

Lust. Greed. Envy. Can all be experienced at the same time. Romantic jealousy as a form of envy:

Jealousy: To keep what one has.

Envy: The wish to get what one does not have.

(Green eyed, brown-eyed, hazel, blonde, brunette, red, does not matter)

Having a relationship altered in an undesirable manner. Ick. The envious person does not possess a valued commodity, but wishes to possess it. Ick again.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Feelings of expressions include fear of loss, suspicion or of anger of a perceived betrayal, sadness, uncertainty and loneliness, fear of losing an important person to another, distrust.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

And all that explanatory behavior is just for jealousy.🤢

Envy includes feelings of inferiority, longing, resentment of circumstances, ill will, motivation to improve, disapproval of feelings, sadness towards others accomplishments.

An emotional episode to a complex narrative. Used. Abused in the attempts to maximize the success of our genes even. Sounds ominous.

OJ and OCD for breakfast. Cultural learning can influence the situations that trigger jealousy. Obsessive. Compulsive.

Beware of the trigger diggers. Slackers. Hackers. Instead of going step by step, by the book they oftentimes take the short cut route—through your life, heart, using their devilish souls. They go deep. Really deep inside your ‘noggin’ too.

Even going after man’s best friend, to see what makes them “tick”. Dogs are known to have a jealous behavioral tendency if their owners pay attention to a dog toy and not to them directly.🐕🐩🦮🐕‍🦺🐈 It can cause incidences of jealousy as dogs do obey. Dogs obey a group hierarchy. Changes to a home can prompt a dog to change behavior.

Loyal dogs…..

Not so loyal devils.

In these modern cultural times the tap tap tap can take your life a step further. When you tap, tap, tap on a site, site, site and engage with an app, app, app. For example, a dating app, can indicate how jealous YOU may or may not be by how many times you tap, tap, tap, or click, click, click on that site.

Invasion of Privacy. Wouldn’t you agree🫵🏻🤥🤔🤫.

No. This is not about the stalking thing. Your own behavior is an indicator of you, what you think in private situations. It may be considered another form of jealousy, unless, of course your tap, tap, tap has you tap, tap, tap dancing results in a “Going to the chapel and we’re gonna get married kind a thing.” Which many reputable stats say don’t tell the whole story. Of a strong and lasting union.

It was opined that persons who viewed or spend a lot of time perusing these sites, “endorsed” or supported these habits. Of habitual tapping and clicking. It can be downright addicting.

Told ya not to click. On the screen all day long…..all night long……..

The takeaway. Mirroring the behavior of the screen person you may see and who may or may not display violent or aggressive tendencies due to jealousy, may or may not exhibit those as self. And you begin to think it is “normal” behavior. Acceptable even.

Warned ya about click clocking. Will you keep on tick tocking now?

But seriously.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Tap Tap Tap

Tap Tap Tap

Tap Tap Tap.

The two sat atop their beds clicking, dancing hands, and tapping away.

Nothing. To show for their work. Nothing. Nada.

Finally. A voice. The radio announcer announced the minutes were counting down, the seconds were just around the corner. The contest would soon be over. Someone would “win”, someone would “lose”.

The two in unison swore and bore the remainder of the dreadful time of competition.

Side by side

Bide by bide.

Moment by moment.

Fret by fret.

Tap by painful tap.

The winner was announced.

It was not to be today.

Not their destiny.

Today.

Some may consider the prize nothing to die for.

Others would think it was everything to die for.

In the end.

It doesn’t really matter

It doesn’t really matter if you win or lose.

It is how you play the game.

With the devil by your side, in your head,

calling the shots

Or, your conscience by your side, in your head

calling the shots

Your decision.

You decide.

While you are the only one still residing in your head.
