Fiction Science Fiction

Way above the dying earth, a huge station orbited the planet it had multiple docking bays surrounding it, its shining metal reflected the sun and people looked out multiple windows and their last glimpse of earth.

Inside one of the windows a woman named Tia kept looking out that window pacing and thinking the Earth was beautiful from here. It would probably be the last time she ever saw it, her and 100 other women were being sent to another planet, that had huge oceans teaming with life, islands of lush greenery dotted with a rainbow of flowers, and hot rocky deserts that the people lived underground. There were multiple humanoid species that resembled lizards, fish and birds they needed women and the earth government agreed to send 100 woman a year to bred with them and in return the human race got resources they needed. Our planet was dying from overpopulation.

Why me? And I don’t have a choice, she thought as she paced then stopped and hugged herself staring down at the pod where she would be put into stasis in a few hours just thinking about that liquid being pumped into her body and sleeping for years only to wake in a new place made her start to quake. Would be sent to the underground desert, or the lush isles, or in the underwater cites of crystal domes that pulled oxygen from then water around it. But she wouldn’t cry she wouldn’t give them the satisfaction. She would hide her fear and face this like a woman, she would be strong. Well she hoped she could, it was easy thinking about it but actually doing it was another matter.

At least the males there weren’t bad to look at, big and muscular and it was said once bonded they never looked at another woman. Even though some of the males were against choosing a human mate. They would be cold and distant, but take care of you to the t. she ran her fingers down the side of the glass, then after eyeballing it one more time went to get ready, she showered enjoying the hot water running down her chilled skin, after she toweled dried her hair leaving it loose she put on a life suit that would be able to help the crew that would be on shifts keep track of vitals. Just being asleep that long made her nervous, and nauseous. She hesitatingly went to the common room where the other women were waiting for orders. A tall woman stood on a platform, she wore a white pant suit with long blond hair pulled back in a braided bun, she was a classical beauty with pale cream skin and long manicured nails. She held a tablet and kept glancing at it and looking out of the woman assembled.

"Now that everyone is here. In an hour you all will put you into stasis for our 30-year trip. But when the council sees that we are cooperating they may approach us for light speed we do not have the tech they will awaken you and bring you aboard and place you in their own pods. I am sorry for this I know some of you didn’t choose this, but you will be helping planet and will have opportunities there that you wouldn’t have here. Prepare to be prepped.”

The women were ushered into a waiting room with many seats where they would wait to be seen three at a time. they would be seated in chairs that would be hooked to monitors and blood would be taken, making sure nothing was there that could have been missed the first time around. She hated this part, the coldness of the room the wires and needles. Hopefully, this would be the last time she had to go through this.

When she was done, she was escorted to the common room where she was handed a tablet to look over, it held information about all the males that they were to be matched up with. She flipped through the pictures some of them were slender others were terrifyingly bulky and covered in spikes. She slammed the tablet down and turned away. Bit her lips and then snatched it back up, and slide through the rest of the pictures and read through the bios most were in the upper-class warriors a handful were royals and the scariest looking. Hoping that they didn’t pick her, she closed the file and was about to go turn it in when it dinged, looking back at it she saw her results they were the same just one thing was different, something in her DNA made her go to the top of the list the most desirable.

‘Lord help me' she thought now was going to be in some high-ranking palace where formality would be excepted, not something she was good at. She investigated the tablet screen as it was black it had a mirror shine that showed her reflection. She had long brown curly hair that hung past her shoulders, she wasn’t allowed to pull it up, so it was like a soft pillowy cloud floating around her head. Her skin was lightly tanned and would fade to pale cream when not in the sun. She was a little plumper then the others and it made herself conscious of herself.  She brushed her hair back from her shoulders and rubbed her neck. It was time to go to the pods, the women were done. One by one they went to the stasis chamber, the crew in charge of them started hooking up the monitors to their suits and placing electrodes to their heads. Trembling she looked around and closed her eyes tuning out the women that were crying and being forced into the pods. They were the younger ones that had been chosen from richer families that spoiled them. As the pods hissed shut, the lights dimmed and freezing cold liquid filled her veins as she started to drift off but not before she panicked and tried to slam her hand through the glass. Her head flopped sideways, and her hand fell limp as she submitted to her fate.
