“Yoongi, you need to start walking a bit faster.” I called out, groaning in frustration. Jimin, Jin and I stopped, waiting for Yoongi to catch up. Maybe we should’ve left him at home.
After school was over, we decided to celebrate by enjoying a day on the beach. The four of us met up on the first day of our summer break with all our backpacks packed with food and other beach necessities. Excited, we all showed up 30 minutes before we were supposed. Well, almost all of us. Yoongi thinks the only way to have fun is to just sleep and eat all day so the man showed up 5 minutes late. As much as I love lazing around, I would rather swim in a beach on a scorching summer day than sleep at home. Considering most of us wanted to go to the beach, we just dragged him along.
“Jungkook’s right. We’ll never find a good spot to set up the mat if we continue at this speed.” Jimin agreed, glaring at Yoongi. Yoongi, head hung low, just scratched his head and continued walking at the same pace.
“Hold up, I’ll go get him.” growled Jin, an angry scowl painted on his face. He handed Jimin the beach bag and then angrily stomped towards Yoongi.
Jimin and I burst into fits of laughter watching Jin pick up Yoongi on his shoulders and stomp back. “I still don’t know why you guys brought me here. I clearly didn’t, and still don’t, want to be here. Even you can see that I’m just being a burden. Why did you guys even bring me here? I’m going to end up complaining all day. I would’ve had a much better time doing nothing at home and so would you guys without me.” complained Yoongi once Jin put him down.
“Just shut up and walk faster.” scolded Jin, scowling. I giggled, just like a toddler. Jimin snaked his hand around my waist as we continued walking, still looking for a good and comfortable spot.
After a while of walking (and stopping because of Yoongi), we finally found a good spot. Jimin pulled out a beach mat and I helped set it down. Jin brought out the food while Yoongi flopped down on the beach chair we brought with us. Sighing, I said, “Yoongi, are you serious right now? We’re at a beach right now! We should be enjoying ourselves and eat and swim, not just sit and sleep on a flimsy beach chair.” He was right. We really should have left him at home.
“Yeah, Yoongi come down and sit with us on the mat. We can have so much fun together.” pleaded Jimin after we finished placing the mat and food. We all were now sitting in a circle on the mat apart from Yoongi who was sprawled out on the beach chair.
“No, I’m good here. You know what? You guys really do underestimate how relaxing sleep is. I am having fun.” He denied as he yawned.
“Just come down, it’s much more comfortable than that stupid chair.” I added, grabbing a cheese sandwich to munch on since my stomach was grumbling.
“MIN YOONGI, YOU COME DOWN HERE AND SIT WITH US RIGHT NOW UNLESS YOU WANT A PUNCH IN THE FACE!!!” roared Jin, sending Jimin and I into a fit of giggles, once again. Scared, Yoongi pushed himself down, muttering complains
“It’s not funny.” mumbled Yoongi. “Okay let’s eat now.” Said Jimin, pouring himself a glass of lemonade. “Yup.” I agreed, grabbing another sandwich.
After eating, we decided to go swim in the ocean. Surprisingly, Yoongi joined us this time. We all ran towards ocean, screaming in joy. Although we were completely soaked in salty water but were still having fun splashing water at each other and running around in the water. Everything was going great. I felt ecstatic. Until I felt an intense pain shoot up leg. I cried out in pain, grabbing Jimin’s attention. He jerked around to look at me and ran to me. The pain was getting worse and harder to bear each second.
“Jungkook! What…h-how…WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED!” he yelled, worried. Looking down, I saw the blood ooze from my foot into the water, tinting it red. I hissed, feeling the wound sting. A few centimeters away, lay a knife, completely covered in blood.
“D-d-down. K-knife, b-b-blood-” I tried to talk but my voice failed me. It was too much
“Crap. Don’t talk, just grab onto my shoulders and I’ll help you to the bench, okay? Can you do that?” he said as his right arm slid under my knees and his left supported my back. I nodded. Squeezing my eyes shut, I prayed for the pain to disappear. Even my stomach felt weird, I felt sick.
“YOONGI!!! JIN!!! COME HERE FAST! JUNGKOOK’S BEEN STABBED. HE CAN’T WALK.” Jimin called out to the others as he cautiously carried me to Yoongi’ s beach chair. Placing me gently on it, he frowned. Jin and Yoongi came running towards and started screaming in unison.
“Who did this to you?”
“How did this happen?”
“Are you okay?”
“Your foot is bleeding so mu-“
“SHUT UP!! Did anybody carry a first aid kit or something” yelled Jimin, frustrated
“No, we didn’t.” groaned Jin, burying his face in his hands.
“Let’s just get you to the hospital.” Suggested Jimin.
“Wait, we need to take our stuff.” Said Yoongi. “Leave it. We’ll come for it later.” Said Jin, scowling.
“Jeon Jungkook. You can’t escape your fate. You were the cause of my death. Did you really think you could just escape and go on with your life without me? No sweetheart, I can’t let that happen. Now I will come after you. I will avenge my death. I will kill you. I will make sure you die a slow and painful death just like me.”
“Who is that?” said Jin, slowly starting to panic.
“It’s me. Isabelle. Your sister, Jungkook. The sister you killed. Who you let die, watched die. Don’t you remember?”
<Flashback:>
“Jungkook! Jungkook! Come here, let’s play in the water!” she screamed, giggling as she ran towards the water. The trail of her elegant white dress glided through the air as she ran. I followed her, our favorite unicorn pool floatie in hand. “Coming Isabelle. Relax” I answered, catching up. “Here, take your floatie.” She jumped up and down in excitement. Sitting on the floatie, she flapped her hands and paddled through the waters. We were both having fun, but it soon got to the point where she was going to deep into the water. “Isabelle! Come back! You’re going too deep and the tides are rising. It’s dangerous Isabelle……COME BACK!” I screamed, running behind. She was screeching, crying out for help. I called for lifeguards, but the beach was deserted. I ran through the water, calling her name. I tried. I tried so hard, but the currents swept her away. I never saw her again after that. When I went home that day, my parents disowned me and dumped in an orphanage.
<end of flashback>
Her cries still ring in my head every night. I remember. I haven’t forgotten. I haven’t forgotten anything. Now, she stood with the bloody knife in her hand. Scars and bruises painted her pale blue skin.
All screaming in unison, we ran. Jimin swept me up in his arms and ran. The burning sensation and torturous pain in my leg still hadn’t gone; if anything, it got worse. My vision was starting to get blurry as Jimin ran with me in his arms. We ran, without a stop, until we reached Jin’s car. Jin and Yoongi jumped into the front seats and Jimin and I climbed in the back, slamming the doors. “DRIVE! START THE CAR! DRIVE JIN” Jimin yelled, tightening his grip on me. “I can’t. Th-the cars not starting!” he exclaimed, fumbling with the keys.
“Tsk tsk. You never listen when someone warns you. I told you. You can’t escape me, Jeon Jungkook. You will pay for the pain you have caused me.”
That’s when it hit me. There’s no point in trying to escape now. She’s got us. Even when alive, Isabelle always got exactly what she wanted. Jimin tried opening the door as an attempt of running away but he stopped as soon as he heard a loud deafening crash. My fear filled eyes met her pitch-black orbs. With that, she broke through the back window and stabbed the knife through my stomach. I cried out, the pain like nothing I ever felt before. All I could see was a distorted image of Jimin’s tear stained face as the burning pain killed me. After that, I blacked out.
And now here I am, chained to a brick wall. My face stained with tears and sweat, blood dripping down my stomach. My sister stands there, watching me suffer with an evil smile decorated with a hint of satisfaction. Not knowing what happened to my friends, I’m narrating this story to whoever’s listening. To whoever’s willing to help me escape this hell.

There are several very minor errors. This happens often in books today, especially when a professional editor isn’t used. The only one that distracted from the story was “k-knife.” Someone stuttering would “n-knife.” The only reason it distracted for me was probably I noticed it because I was looking for errors as well as the story and I chuckled in the middle of a horror story. I thought the writing in the first part (up to the stabbing) was good but didn’t build tension for the knifing and the second half. Early on we could have learn of a...
