Where has all the work gone?

I know you are probably asking that question and I am sure you deserve an explanation. And I am not one to deny such explanations.

For you see, when I came here, I got the impression that this contest was supposed to be about everyone and that we all had just as much a chance as anyone else to be seen and recognized as an author. I actually had hopes mainly for my writings to be seen and to develop a fan base.

Now since I came here, I feel that is what I developed and with it I would like to think that I tried new things and new styles of writing that I figured could be enjoyed by my peers. I don't doubt that I made a few friends here, but I also don't doubt that this very well could be deleted when the administration sees it. But since I am not one of their click, nor and I professional, I doubt that they will.

Actually winning was not something I expected, but there have been times that I poured my heart into a piece that I thought that it would at least be recognition status in the runners up. No such luck. Still with a free to enter contest, every new piece meant the opportunity to impress someone, but even that never came.

It is true, you cannot please everyone, but it is rare that I saw anyone outside the high levels of the Karma board actually winning. Then I began to notice an influx of people that are already in the writing world entering the contests and they were the ones who started winning every little thing in this contest.

Then the original people stepped out and a new set of folks took over and then there became a price to enter the contest.

What, so you can pay the editor, publicists, journalists, and the like that already have writing careers that have come to this page?

This site deteriorated since I joined it.

It became about the already established and not those that might be trying to establish themselves. You rated people on Karma to be a main flux and you decided that those who have a career deserve your praise over us who have been trying for ages to get their work out there in some way.

I do not believe that you have the authors of the world at heart, after all the only ones who can submit their very best work every day is those already in the field. It is what it is.

So you can also think about it from a financial stand point:

There are sites out there that I can make myself that are free to post my work on as a journal. I have many saved. There are a still free contests still out there as well, but to donate a maximum of $25 to a site on a weekly basis without the true possibility of winning is an expense that I do not have. Some of us do not have it as easy as others do and do not have that cash to throw around...but you editors and the like do...don't they? Then you get the best work in your eyes 24/7.

I am sorry it has come to this. My work has been deleted from the site. It is my work after all and if you were faulty advertising that much, I do not believe that you have a right to keep it here.

And sure posting to profiles is free now, but how long before you start charging to do that as well?

So with a heavy heart, but a clear mind, I say good-by to friends that I have made...what few are still here...and I have deleted my work. I will not answer comments to this, heck I might not come here anymore to check on anything. I wish you all well and maybe this place won't get too self centered and egotistical about what they want that you will still get to post here for free.
