"CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN"
"$0.25 A DIP"
The words were on a white piece of cardstock paper and were taped to the base of a large chocolate fountain. Charly sighed, she knew coming to the festival was a terrible idea. She had gotten lost from her group and they wouldn't be anywhere near. "Stupid robber, who even thinks it's a good idea to steal at a crowded festival," Charly muttered under her breath. The good thing was that she had her bag and money back, the bad thing was that she was lost. With another defeated sigh she started to walk off, before bumping into someone, that is.
"Ah shoot, sorry!"
"Sorry? that's a new phrase from you, did you just learn it?"
Charly heard a familiar snicker as she looked up.
She wished that she hadn’t.
A boy around her age with light hazelnut hair and chocolate brown eyes stood in front of her. ‘Of course, and just when I thought the day couldn’t get worse,’ Charly mentally sighed as the boy put his hand out. She grabbed his hand and got up,”C-Chester, what are you doing here!” her tone was more flustered than she wanted it to be. Did he really catch her that off guard? Sure, she had a somewhat big crush on the guy but this seemed silly. “Hey, hey Charls, ya good? Your face looks red, are you sick or something?” Charly shook her head trying to get rid of her thoughts. “I’m fine just got lost from the rest of the team,”
“The team?” Chester asked
“I’m here with the rest of the press team,” Charly answered back, regaining her usual calm and serious demeanor.
"Didn't know the press team would be going to the May Festival, especially not you!" he said with his signature goofy smile. "Yeah I know, Wally's birthday today, wanted to do something fun with the team and I came so they didn't do something dumb." She knew that the rest of the team would be worried by now but she kept talking. "Anyways, answer my question, what are you doing here, got lost too?" Charly asked. Chester shook his head,"Went to go find the choco fountain, heard you only need 25 cents for it.”
Charly stopped to think for a moment, people were leaving now. Shouts of goodbye and people waving from their friends and going towards the parking lot, couples and families going to some final stands before leaving. Charly would admit, as much as she hated to, it made her feel warm inside. It would be easier to find the rest of her group now though, that was good. She forced herself to remember where she was before running into her crush. Her train of thought crashed when she felt a warm hand move a few stray strands of her hair behind her ear though. Charly looked at Chester, her bright, ocean blue eyes staring back into his chocolate brown ones.
She felt the blood rushing to her cheeks as he left his thumb resting on her cheek. He was still staring at her, the two chocolate dipped strawberries in his other hand, the chocolate dripping on his fingers.
Her heart was throbbing and her chest hurt, but she didn't want the moment to end. Charly wanted it last like this, at least until her heart stopped beating. Through the noise of her own thoughts she ignored the sound of a camera click.
"Uhhh... Jens,I think we came at the wrong moment."
Charly turned her head to face where the voice had came from. Standing there was a boy with light brown hair and light green eyes holding a wheelchair. In that wheelchair was a girl with bleach blonde hair and golden eyes. “I-I-IT’S NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE!” Charly stumbled back as she shouted at them. “Don’t worry, we were looking for you and found Chester’s best friend and he told us that he was near the chocolate fountain,” the bleach blonde said, giving Charly a sly smirk. “But if we interrupted something then we can just leave, most of the press is tired anyways.”
“I said it wasn’t like that!” Charly was blushing harder now.
Chester placed his hand on her shoulder,”I should probably go back now, have a good rest of your guy’s night!” and with that he waved and took off in a sudden rush. Though Charly was sure that he was blushing too.
She looked back at the two in front of her. The light brown haired boy was Wally, for sure, and the bleach blonde was Jenny. "If any of this gets out I will have your head on a platter." Charly said, glaring at the two. "Don't worry, I'll make sure that Jenny, 100%, doesn't share any of this outside of the press team." Wally gave her a reassuring glance. "Thanks Wally I-" before she finished her sentence she noticed that the two would share the moment with the rest of the group. "HEY! GET BACK HERE, DON'T SHOW THAT PICTURE!" Charly chased after the two while they laughed.
---
Charly sighed as she shut the car door, looking in the rearview mirror to see if everyone was there before driving out of the parking lot.
“Sooo...”
“Jenny I’m not in the mood to talk, we are going to our hotel, washing up, and going to sleep.”
Charly gave a glare in the rearview mirror,“That’s final.” The bleach blonde behind her sighed, and continued to nod to the music that was coming from her phone. As mush as Jenny wanted to protest and keep talking about the press team leader's crush, she wouldn't. The rest of the drive was filled with chatter about the festival, the press team throwing around stories about the booths they’d visited. All Charly was thinking about though, was the chocolate fountain. How she felt lucky to have ended up near it. How she liked that her team was safe, and wasn't asking her about the incident
(She knew well that the rest of the press knew, but they had the respect not to ask.)
With a small sigh she smiled, listening to the stories that the rest of the team experienced.
