Dear Lord,

It has been a long time since I have written in this journal. However, it seems like my life has been full of pretending to be something I am not. Especially when it comes to the business, writing, and being a doctor. I really do enjoy writing, and I am being inspired by the different authors I am reading about or listening to on MasterClass, such as James Patterson, Ray Bradbury, Joyce Carol Oates, Judy Blume, etc. It is very fascinating how they can create wonderful stories from their minds. How can they do that? Sometimes I feel that my mind is blocked, that I cannot come up with anything. If I do, I am in a hurry to finish it to meet a deadline or a word count. I do have a few short stories in the queue waiting to be looked at, modified, beefed up, and maybe submitted for people to review and criticize. Sometimes writing can be its own world that I want to be a part of. It is a place where you can determine your happiness and success in your own mind without depending on people to make it happen for you.

I am reading Ray Bradbury’s letters from the 1930s and 40s. It is amazing how much detail is put into those letters, especially compared to today. The ways we write short emails, texts, and Facebook messages. Heck, we don’t even use words, we just use emojis. Where has the talent gone?

I know there are many great writers out there, and I hope one day I can join their ranks. But I know it is going to take practice, practice, practice.

Dear Lord,

The reason for writing is to express myself fully without saying any words. Writing is the best way to express what you are thinking, what you are feeling, and what you are saying without actually saying it. There are many out there who would rather write than talk, and I am one of them.

Please forgive me for being in such a rush to finish what I was writing yesterday. My problem is that I do not want anybody to know that I am writing in a journal. Maybe I do not want to have a hundred questions coming at me, such as, "Why are you doing this, or why are you doing that?" I guess I’d better get used to it, especially if my book takes off.

I am now reading Ray Bradbury’s letters to his mentors, colleagues, and friends. Some of these items are tough to read, but I have to do it because I want to learn about the different writing styles. As I wrote yesterday, the way that they express themselves in letters is amazing. You will not see that today. Writing is a great exercise that we all should learn, and there are many great gems around the world, and we have to find them.

The book shelves may be crowded at our favorite book stores; however, there is always room for a few more. We need to get back to the generation of the 20s in Paris, the Lost Generation. Oh my God, look at all the talent on display during the awesome era.

Now it is time to look up C.L. Moore, the writer mentioned a couple of times in the book. She is very famous, so let’s see why.

Dear Lord,

Writing is an art that needs to be practiced each and every day.. Well, that is what I heard and read from authors from all over the world with many credentials, from being best sellers to those who are just starting on their craft. The other recommendation I hear is to read. Reading improves writing. Unfortunately, there is one thing that I am not fond of: reading. I guess I’d better get over that lack of enthusiasm if I want ot become a decent writer.

Thank you for the whirlwind tour that I had yesterday—well, it was a whirlwind in my eyes. I enjoyed the meeting with Palmetto Publishing. They are very excited about the book's release and have big plans to get it out to colleges and universities. I think it is a great idea. Of course, I am a little reserved; however, the goal of the book is to help people, especially those who are up and coming.

Today I will continue to read and write. I need to improve my skills if I want to make it in this business. Now it is time to do some “technical writing” and create a manual about Qlik and Databricks, whatever that is, ha ha!!t

P.S. I forgot to write that the initial press release and newsletter were amazing. I can hardly wait until it hits the public airways.

Dear Lord,

It is great reading these books, especially “Remembrance” by Ray Bradbury, because it gives me the inspiration to write! Writing is an art where your mind needs to be clear and your heart needs to be overflowing with the words that you want to put on paper. Way back when, writing had this: a reader can tell by the pages they read from their favorite novels. Authors believe in what they write and want to show the world their creativity. Today is more or less the same; however, in my opinion, if you want to see the creativity, you would have to search far and wide. Writing these days, especially for everyday tasks, is done by short phrases, emojis, or a new language no one understands.

Thank You Lord for giving me the talent to write. I just need to keep practicing my craft so that my level can rise to become like those who have or are close to the pinnacle. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Dear Lord,

Another day of trying to improve my writing skills. Thank God for Dunkin Donuts and the wonderful coffee they serve. Now, let us put 45:00 minutes on the timer so that I can concentrate on something besides looking at the internet and filling my mind up on a bunch of junk that I have no control over.

Speaking of Dunkin Donuts, it just became very busy. It can go from one customer, me, to ten in five minutes. This is what I call rush hour, ha ha!! Hopefully, everyone will enjoy their coffee, donuts, frozen drinks, etc. These people work hard to deserve the best, and you know I am talking about the team behind the counter.

Thank you, Palmetto Publishing, for all of the work that was and is currently being done on the book. I really love it. I pray that it will help at least one person. I am going to be happy when it becomes published. I am very happy right now, and a few steps remain. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Dear Lord,

Writing is an inspiration that You have given me to express my thoughts and feelings. Writing also shows the research, time, and effort an author puts into coming up with a piece that brings an answer to those who are in need of having their questions addressed. We cannot do this alone. We need Your help, love, and blessing to open up our hearts and minds so that we can put them on paper. Only You can get rid of all of the useless stuff from our minds that is preventing the writers of the world from creating a masterpiece. We pray all of this in Jesus’ name, amen.
