Final Goodbye... Or See You Later

As many of you know, I will not be here during the summer. There is a chance that I will return, either on this account or a new one. So, because of this, I left a little free verse poem/story for you guys. Enjoy <3

I browsed the web, the pain of betrayal still fresh-

I just wanted somewhere I can be myself,

Where I can have friends who think like me,

People who actually care about me,

Unlike the traitors they have here-

I clicked link after link, the same message coming up-

I reworded my search-

Blocked

Blocked

Blocked

Restrictions everywhere,

Whether from my parents or the school,

I was always held back

I clicked a link, 

Waiting for the message to pop up so I can finally give up

I’m about to leave when the page loads,

The message nowhere in sight-

The website was labeled “Reedsy”

A community full of writers-

Filled with excitement,

I wrote my first story

Of roses and jewels

Expecting to not get noticed-

I come back

To my first like

And my first comment

From a person named Danny

We talked, we laughed, and for once in my life,

I felt wanted

I felt loved

From there, it grew-

One like, two likes,

Five, ten, twenty-

More and more comments

Complimenting my work

Wanting to be friends

Story after story formed on the page

Coming alive for others to marvel

I became familiar with upvotes

And bios

Random conversations

Roleplays

Reedsy-casts

And collabs

I became known

For my stories

And my cliffhangers

And my love for killing characters

Along with the readers hearts

Then, I clicked a link in someone’s bio

For a doc called Scribbls

And from there, I found more people

More friends to call my own

An easier way to converse

I became more comfortable

More trusting

To these people whose real names 

I don’t even know

Whose faces

I've never seen

Then, I found Remind

Another link that actually worked

Where restrictions can’t reach

And freedom lies

I made more friends,

Talked to more people

And became comfortable enough 

To reveal more about me

It started with initials

Then my name

Then my backstory

And it grew into videos

Full of hand reveals,

Face reveals,

Voice reveals,

Everything reveals

Because I finally felt

I could trust someone

And I finally felt

That I found friends

So many friends

So many loving people

Who stayed through my worst

Which is more than I can say for the traitors

I met so many people

Starting with that one Danny Dorito

And spreading

To a Maya Yam

Made my day

Brought light into my life

Even through my darkest times

And it brings me tears

That I have to say goodbye

And go back to my old life

Even if just for a summer

Because I worry

What if this is my last?

What if I will never type rip

Or laugh at the screen

Talk about boys

Or compare crushes

No more reveals

Or meetings on zoom

No more avocado meelk

Or rabbits and deer

No more of the family

I formed on Reedsy

...I don’t want to leave

I just want to stay

This is my fantasy

My eternal dream

All dreams fade

But I will never forget

The love that I’ve had

On this single website
