Coming of Age Fiction Sad

September 8th, 2020.

Sweat drips down my face. I chug water and feel it run down my chin. I look at my hands. They hurt. There red and swollen. Sigh… just one more minute. One more. Unless we get 10 points we’re going to lose. Stupid Huroto. I wipe my face off with my hand.

“Come on Huroto!” My coach belived in me. My friends believe in me. Why don’t I just tell them how hard it is? Because, if I did, I would be called weak. I’d be the chicken and the sore loser in the school and get some cheesey nickname. I run and catch the ball. It slams into my palms. I imitatly run and tears form in my eyes. The brown ball almost slips out of my hands because of all the sweat. I run to the end, my legs are in agony and I’m close to crying it hurts so bad.

The time ticks and I couldn’t make it.

“And the Ravens win with ten points more!” I fall to the ground and breathe deeply. It’s hard to breathe. I’m seeing black. It’s growing… what’s going on? I close my eyes.

I wake up. I’m in the hospital in a white gown. It smells like sick. It smells bad. I see a water bottle in front of me. I’m not thirsty. My mom comes in and looks at me.

“Hey kiddo…” she looks worried. I look at her blankly and she grins. I grin a little. Her brown eyes are not sparkly.

  “What’s going on?” I ask.

“You’re in the hospital. You have Ellers Dan lose.” She replies.

  “What’s that?” I was confused.

“It’s were you’re bones are weaker then other peoples. It’s sometimes hard to do sports.” She says. That would explain a lot. I look at my cold fingers. It’s hard to believe that they were red a minute ago. I look at her.

“Did we win?” I ask. She shakes her head. I look at a board in the room. Huroto James. I sound like a discrase. I am a discrase. Tears form in my eyes.

  “It’s nothing to cry about-

“I NEVER WANT TO PLAY SPORTS AGAIN!” She looks at me with tired eyes. A little shine appears. She’s listening.

“A little loss doesn’t mean you should quit.”

“I DON’T CARE! IT TOOK ME FOREVER TO MAKE IT TO THERE!!! DO YOU EVEN RELISE HOW MUCH PAIN I WAS IN!? YEAH BET YOU DON’T HUH!!!!!” I was so mad. I wanted to punch a wall. I cry and cry. The tears roll down my face. She has no idea how bad it hurts. How bad it hurts to run. How bad it hurts to do any fiscal activitie. She has no idea. My mom looked even more concerned for me. I look away from her soft look. “Don’t make me pitty.” I scoff. She gets up out of the chair and walks to the door.

“I love you Huroto.” She walks out of the room and shuts the door.

Hope is at the essence. It hard for me to explain the pain I’m in everyday. I had gone home with mom. It was completely silent the whole way there. I was crying silently in the back. I was in pain because the seat back was to straight so I felt really uncomfortable. The side of my lips caught the tears and I tasted salt. I rest my eyes for a little.

I open my eyes. Were at a store. The dollar store to be exact. I walk inside and for some reason, I head straight for the office isle. I look at all the notebooks and pens. I see lots of things I see on my dads desk everyday. I pick up a black leather book and open it to the pages. It has lines in it and I look at the pens. I grab a set of all the rainbow color pens and smile. Perfect. I walk up to the counter and buy them with my own money and hand them the green dollar bills.

“Watcha got there?” Asked my mom.

“For school.” I said, not making eye contact.

“Oh ok,” she says. All the sudden we go over a speed bump. “woah!” My mom exclaims. I laugh, my heart racing. I start writing in my book. I start with, ‘Sweat drips down my face.’

(before you go: hey! I wrote this because I have elers Dan lose in real life and it sucks. I don’t feel a lot of pain but it’s hard for me to run and do fiscal things. So to submit this I need some more words so I’m gonna spam a word until I can submit this.
