Salem.

A very dark era of history emerged in the city of salem. This book is inspired by the things that happened to the witches of salem Massachusetts. It takes a look at the consequences they endured if they were accused of witchcraft. Very dark magical times. For young adults due to triggers, death, violence and magic and foul play/language.

Ye old Hag.

The coldest day of the year that we've had in decades. My lips were blue and my teeth were shivering. But I was determined to see what was in the Forrest and why it was prohibited. It was two degrees I had my favourite jacket on.

No man could discover the Shadow Gallows in a car only on foot. It was buried in to the woods. It was two degrees outside. The most coldest day we have had in decades. It was winter and the snow flakes kept falling making the ground icy and dangerous. Even though shadow Gallows was in the middle of no where the people had made their own community. The towns people wore their puffy jackets, long pants.

After the black death wiped every body out most of the towns witch doctors where fresh and intact. Making different concoctions to help people with the infection. The witch doctors were there to help but if they were caught they would be captured and prone to being tortured, hung or sent to prison. There were two types of people the ones that watched and the ones who covered their eyes. They would scream to their death. Ear piercing and gut wrenching.

The governors children kept having phycotic episodes. They learnt how to fortune tell with their baby sitter. They had unusual body movements and turning in to dogs that barked. But later found to have a combination of asthma, Lyme disease, epilepsy and went through child abuse which caused them to act out.

As I saw the flowers there was a vegetation garden. I jumped for joy. I started running towards them and I ran my fingers through the crops. I picked as many as I could for my mum. As we are very poor. Carrot, peas, corn, tomatoes, strawberries, blue berries, raspberries, coca and vanilla bean, capsicum, onion, garlic and rosemary.

Then all of a sudden I heard the high pitch ear piercing scream again. Everything shriveled up and the gardens turned to grey to dust. Even the ones in my bag and then I fainted and fell into the dust.

.....

I woke up and I was all muddy and dusty. My clothes were torn. I didn't know how long I was out for. But an old lady dragging me out into the woods through the icy cold dirt with lots of sticks. I could feel them ripping my skin apart. Fresh open wounds. My arms and feet were cable tied. I tried to get them off but it just made me bleed and cut my arms more. The Forrest kept getting darker and darker as the sun disappeared behind the trees and the moon light arose. It was a full moon but it was still so bloody cold. I looked up at her, and she looked like an old hag witch that had been around for a very long time.

She had grey scraggy hair, that looked like it hadn't been brushed for years, as pale as a ghost, horrible wrinkles all over her face, a big nose, and huge big blue eyes she was also really thin and looked like she hadn't eaten in a while. I wondered why if she had all the crops, the only crops in the town. But I don't think we were near Shadow gallows anymore. The foot prints were gone.

"Fuck, get off me you old hag." I cried. She just laughed at me which sounded like the laugh of Satan. She looked at me and smiled. Not a care in the world. The gardens must have been an illusion to get people to come in so that she could execute them eat them or just have them do slave Labor. Times were really tough in this city due to our countries constantly at war.

Shadow Gallows was very far away from when she dragged me I think she dragged me at least two Kilometers from where I fainted. I didn't know where I was. I was so cold and so exhausted. She dumped me on the ground and walked to what I guessed was her home. Made out of rocks glued together so they couldn't budge. Right near the river.

The river was brown and didn't look clean at all. She had stuff that she had obviously stolen from the humans that came exploring if they dared to.

She started explaining to me about her life. Her husband died. Of cancer. Her kids passed away and drowned in the river. She waited for them to resurface but something was in that water. She explained.

"Your not the only one who has lost a family member! I lost my wife to cancer eleven months after the diagnosis. Now I have cancer and this is to hard for me. So if you're going to do it, DO IT NOW!"

She undid my cable ties. And my body was bleeding every where. I was so cold that I was shaking. I was supposed to have my immuno therapy today and if I miss that I'm probably going to have a shorter life. My two girls are probably worried sick because I haven't talked to them since yesterday. It's dark and it's cold.

I just wanted to go home.

I got up I was still dizzy I had to wait before I took a step. I was wobblely. It was dark now no light to be seen the water was flowing quickly over the rocks. But she just climbed higher. I followed in agony. Never have I ever

been in this type of pain before. To be continued.
