Fiction Gay Romance

She came into the office with brown, sultry hair and a firm physique. Her name was Sophie. Reception told her to wait in the waiting room. She had a small purse that she set on her lap until she finally got called in. Angie was the physiotherapist that would be attending to her. I believe Angie fell in love with Sophie at first sight. But Sophie was married with kids and she felt less inclined to share the feelings that Angie had. As she rubbed her back Angie felt a deep longing for Sophie. Sophie started talking about her husband and how he was getting too stressful. Her kids hadn't noticed but Sophie felt that they were on a path to divorce. Angie was sympathetic, and empathetic. She rubbed her neck. Stay professional she urged herself. As the session was coming to a close Sophie got up and took Angie's hands. Thank you she said. Do you want to have dinner with me sometime? A storm of butterflies exploded within Angie and she agreed.

Sophie didn't tell her husband where she was going. Just that she was having dinner with a friend she made. She got dressed and tried to balance looking casual and erotic. When she arrived at the restaurant she immediately spotted Angie with her flaming blonde hair. She was led to the table. It didn't feel like a romantic dinner. If anything it was friendly and casual. But Angie was finding herself madly wanting to touch Sophie, if only for a little bit. Angie was making Sophie laugh. Her laughter was. loud and full of a melodic volume. Angie couldn't get enough of it. So she tried to charm Sophie into the palm of her hands.

After the dinner Angie and Sophie stood outside the restaurant when Sophie made a move. She kissed Angie, on the lips. It was an elated moment for Angie and Sophie. Neither said anything but they were both tuned into the chemistry between them. Angie leaned in to kiss Sophie more, and she obliged. It was one of Angie's most romantic memories. Sophie got into her car and drove off and Angie proceeded to go to her car when a man suddenly appeared. He seemed threatening. He demanded that she admit she was a lesbian. At first Angie thought it was Sophie's husband but it turned out to just be some homophobic stranger. But even that interaction couldn't ruin the moment she had shared with Sophie.

The two texted each other unapologetically and it was certain that it was love. Angie would whistle a happy tune as she got to work and Sophie was painting again after pausing for a while. They met up several times at hotels, and restaurants. It was a romance that defeated any sense of loneliness. That was when Angie decided to send Sophie a letter with a gift. She wasn't worried about Sophie's husband but should've been. Sophie urged Angie that they stay as secretive as possible but Angie was in love and wanted to be loud and proud. But then again she would remember that Sophie had kids and that they'd be caught in something that wasn't their fault. She held onto the gift but kept seeing Sophie in secret.

Then one day after a date Sophie's husband did appear. He seemed confused and angry and sad all at the same time.

"Are you cheating on me?" He asked Sophie who stood next to Angie.

Sophie's husband was good-looking and well-dressed. And Angie couldn't help but feel bad for him.

"No." Sophie said.

"Don't lie to me." He said firmly.

"I'm not lying. She's just a friend."

"Then why so secretive?" He inquired.

"I don't remember needing to divulge every detail of my life to you."

"We have kids together, doesn't that mean anything to you?"

"Stop exaggerating." Sophie said violently.

Sophie and her husband, Alex, went back home. They sat at the dining table where her kids were. Alex was distraught and he felt a raging anger come up every time Sophie said something. He knew she was lying because she seemed different. He knew his wife. Yes they were having problems, yes he was being distant, yes even their kids could tell they were arguing a lot but he knew his wife inside out. They had two children - Mary and John. Their dog was hanging around the table too that night.

"Kids, go to your rooms. Your mother and I have to talk." Alex announced even though they weren't finished with their food.

"Alex, they haven't even finished eating." Sophie said, now worried about what was going to be fired at her. John and Mary got up and went to their rooms anyway.

"I know that woman is more than just a friend to you." He said.

"Show me the proof." Sophie retorted. That was when the bell rang. John ran downstairs to get it. Sophie and Alex saw, in Sophie's shock, Angie standing at the door.

"I've brought a gift." Angie said. She gave it to John as she looked at Sophie and Alex. Sophie never felt so angry at another person than in that moment. How reckless! How devious! How manipulative! She's doomed, she thought. Alex tore the gift out of John's hands and ordered him to go upstairs.

"What's the meaning of this?" He asked. It was a paper flower and a letter saying, I love you.

"It's just a gift that I wanted to give to Sophie." Angie said.

"Angie, please go away." Sophie said. "And never come back."

"What?" Angie said defensively.

"What kind of friends give each other love letters. I guess I have all the proof that I need, now." Alex yelled.

"Alex, no, she doesn't mean anything to me. She's just obsessed with me."

"Prove it." Alex said.

"I just did, I told you." Sophie replied.

"I better leave." Angie said.

"Yes that would be for the best." Sophie said.

The next day Sophie texted Angie saying she was sorry but that they had to end things between each other. Angie cried that night in her car. It was 2am. She didn't know how she'd survive without Sophie. Then around 9am she got a notice. Sophie had placed a restraining order on Angie. Probably to prove to her husband that she wasn't in love with Angie. Angie was both angry and sad at the same time. This was it. As she headed out from work Sophie appeared. Angie looked at her in a confused way.

"I just needed to apologize to you. The restraining order. I'm sorry." She blurted out.

Angie was still confused. "Why'd you do it?"

"The gift you brought made me feel like you were crazy."

"I was expressing my love to you."

"It was too much. I have kids, you know that."

"You're not serious about me." Angie said quietly.

"How could I be? I'm married."

"You keep changing your mind. First you want to get out of your marriage, the next you wanna fix it."

"It's complicated."

Sophie tried to hug Angie, but Angie refused.

"It's over" Angie said.

"Ok."

And that was the end of Sophie and Angie's romance. Angie continued being alone and Sophie eventually got a divorce from her husband. The end.
