Mary’s Lifetime Dream

It has been almost ten years since Mary thought of the arguments she had with her best friend, Peg. They argued about everything.Mary was a quiet little girl and Peg, was the gregarious one, no one could understand how they were friends.Mary loved to read, and Peg was captain of the Debate team. Peg said, “Mary, you need to join the debate team” and Mary said, Why? Peg replied, “I am a captain on the team. I want you with me and beside it will teach you how to stand up for yourself.”Mary got angry and the quarrelling began.

Mary was content reading, while her sisters and friends played outside. She was eight years old when she read one of the Les Brown books on Public Speaking, at this point, she knew from that moment, she wanted to be a motivational speaker. Every day she practiced before a mirror. Her mother insisted, she be in her church’s programs where she could speak.

As an adult Mary has studied under Dale Carnegie, and Sylvia, in New York and received certificates. Mary speaks at functions for free of service, at Brackenville’s Center nursing home in Hockessin, Delaware, on the 1st Saturday of the month and visits hospitals.

For entertainment Mary and Peg, love to go skydiving and riding the cyclone, all the time arguing and when they finish, they begin laughing like crazy. Peg is so bossy, and Mary gets angry when she is bossy. We guess that is why they are friends. Peg is the only person that can make Mary, angry at the drop of a pin, and they are going at it no matter where they are but most of their friends know them. They do not worry, just walk away shaking their heads, and leave them arguing. After the argument, they are friends again arm in arm laughing. Friends said, “we cannot understand them, but they understand each other.”

One day Mary was in an accident Peg, stayed in the hospital all day and would not leave her side, until she was forced to go home, because she had been there all night and day. As soon as Mary was feeling better, the quarrelling began, the nurse wanted to know what was wrong? They began laughing, and she walked out of the room, looking puzzled.

Their friends think they need each other, to exist because.

they are stronger together, and the arguments are good for Peg, because she is on a debate team and it helps Mary, to know she can stand up for herself because Peg, is a worthy opponent and a friend.

Tonight, Mary and Peg will attend a party that they have been looking forward to, and their friends know that they will argue, before the nights over. Their arguments have helped Mary, to stand, and not be afraid to voice her opinion, when she goes out to speak, Peg is always in the audience and Mary is always in the audience when Peg is on the debate team, and supporting each other. Their arguments were good, it strengthened them for.

their challenges in life. Mary often dreamt that she has won a contest for her speaking, and Peg, is there cheering her on. Peg’s, team, has been state champions, for three years in a row. Mary continues to speak at nursing homes, churches, schools, and.

benefits without charging for service. Mary believes that God has given her a talent that she can spread abroad and that He will take care of her. Mary believes that when the time comes, she will have enough experience she can charge for her services, and will not feel guilty in doing so.

In the meantime, Mary and Peg argue as much as ever, but no one pays any attention to them. They are going to college and Peg, hopes to become a teacher and Mary will become a motivational speaker. They are in their twenties; Mary is 5’6, 140lbs, size 5, curly afro. Peg is 527, 145 lbs, size 7, curly afro, long legs and loves wearing Daisy Dukes'. Mary says, Peg is a better dancer than she, but they are both good dancers. Wherever, they go dancing. They are on the floor all night dancing, and clowning. The favorite dance of the night is the “Electric Slide,” and when it plays everyone is on the floor, especially their friends. The Electric Slide will be played if requested, and it is requested almost all night. Peg at one time thought about becoming a model, she has what it takes, but changed her mind when she found it, demands traveling. She is gregarious, but does not like to travel, and unlike her Mary loves to travel, and has been overseas twice this year. Mary always knew she wanted to be a motivational speaker, travel around the world, and nothing was going to change her mind. She told everyone of her dreams and her hopes of becoming as good or as great as her hero, Les Brown. One day she hopes to meet him and tell what a great inspiration he was to her. Mary hopes she can inspire someone to become a motivational speaker or have some influence in someone’s life. She believes that each young person should have someone to look up to, and believe in when things are going wrong. When she was going to Sunday School, teachers always said,” try to help and bring someone along with you.” They agreed what Hillary Clinton, said, “it takes a village to raise a child.”

Mary was watching television when Jennifer Lewis entered, the way she walked into the room, caught her attention, as with everyone’s. She walked with such poise, and elegant that made everyone stare.

Mary thought, Jennifer reminded her of Peg.  When she walks into a room, all heads turn. Peg would have been a beautiful model, but she has two weaknesses, flying and traveling. Mary and friends hope to take her on vacation to an unknown place.

Mary’s dream of being a motivational Speaker, has come true with the help of her best friend, Peg who taught her to stand up for herself, and not be afraid to voice her opinion.

I really liked this line: Friends said, “we cannot understand them, but they understand each other.” There are a few punctuation errors (like not doing a space after some of the full stops) but you've painted a solid picture of a fiery friendship. I can think of some couples I've known who are like this, haha! :)
