What Time Is It?

Written in response to: "Write a story that includes the line “What time is it?”"

Adventure Fiction Mystery

"What time is it you ask?" "What time is it?" "Why should I be asked about the time, when it is a precious commodity?".

Time is as precious as the air we breathe or the water we drink or being able to walk and go places freely. Time is something that makes us look at it and ponder how long we have left to live on planet Earth.

Time is valuable and yet it can never have a price tag placed on it because there is never enough money you can offer and time can never be barter with or bought at ay price.

No matter when you ask the question, What time is it?", you will only get a group of numbers and digits, that only say approximately what time it is at that very moment, then 60 seconds later, the next minute leads to 59 more that will give you the next hour.

You see time as a way to keep track of the day, which 7 of those lead you to the next week, then after 4 of those, leads you to the next month, depending on how many days are in the month you ask, "What time it is?".

The clock that keeps track of the time, can differ from each time zone and from each part of the world you are asking, "What time it is?", which can either be time for the day or the night. You can be either awake or either asleep, looking at the device you are wanting to know, "What time is it?". You may wish for the time at the beginning of the day, to actually be the end of the day, when you are first heading off to work or school.

Time can make things be longer or to make you want to be elsewhere instead of the place you are at, in the moment. You never know whether the clock you see will tell you the exact time or the correct time. It can be more pointless for you to ask, "What time is it?", because all the time you are looking, it may be way off by a minute or even a second from the actual true time.

Time can play games and have you seeing a mirage, can have you thinking you are going to be late or too early. Can have you jumping out of bed, racing around your place, like a chicken with its head cut off. Time is never a friend, not in any way. It reminds us of how much time we have, yet reminds that one day we will no longer be around to enjoy time,

Time is more ready to bring about pain and misery, because it can have us feel depressed and feeling tired all the while. It can only make us realize that we never get enough sleep, to feel well rested. It can make us see that we have to be on a schedule of some sort, whether going to work or school, to this appointment or that appointment, and not helping us to make up for any lost time that we hope to use once we arrive at the destination.

Time gives us many regrets and has us wishing and hoping for that which we know we can not get back, like the past, once it has taken place, its a done deal.

Yet time tries to make us happy, only to bring us sadness. It tries to give us a hope that is never truly hope. It causes more stress and worry than is usually allowed for any one person at any given time. Time has no friends.

Time is not working with you to make life better or easier. Time gives us much to be desired, and makes our wants and needs more problematic and chaotic. Time lives by some personal set of rules that have no rhyme or reason.

Time never wants to make friends, it more so teases to make enemies. It is judged and scolded, scoffed and makes us humans angry, enraged and infuriated, all because it keeps in its gaze. Time gives us nothing but trouble, makes us wish for a yesteryear and yesterdays, to be once more as they were way back when. It makes us long for a simpler times, but promises us nothing except sadness and sorrow.

Time has no sympathy or empathy. No way to give us anything except what is its own doing, and yet is a simple reminder of all that we hate to acknowledge or admit. It reminds us of all the things that we wish would disappear or vanish, yet need to be a part of our own daily lives and existence.

We try to forget, even while on vacation or relaxing, that time is no longer still present. Time has only its own way of giving us that one gift within our grasp, and yet just out of reach. We try to understand, "why time hates us so much, why it only wishes us ill will all the day and what makes time so vindictive?"

"How can one offend time when it is only the existence of numbers that mark a point in the factor of that which separates one from the other?"

To answer this, it is because time is a non living entity, which was started in the beginning of the existence of Creation and of all that was and is a part of Creation. So supposedly time has only been around for only so long, and in some way became not as reliable as once thought to be, but time gives no guarantees.

If you ever thought you could beg or even bargain with time, Then you will asking, "What time is it?", for a long time, without a clear concise answer. It will be the one thing that never answers you the way you wish for it to.

Time will give you more questions than answers, will have you pulling your hair out and mustering up a cry in desperation, screaming at the top of your lungs, asking yourself, "What time is it?", which will change nothing.
