When Princess Kira of Kamo turned 12, she was given a diary by Kamos (Her half-orc step-dad). She was perplexed by the gift. She thought he would give her a weapon or something from his homeland of the Green Swamps, not a dusty book, but some reassurance from him she took the gift with gratitude. She began reading the book any time she had. If she wasn't sparring or learning to be a lady, she was reading. She began carrying it everywhere she went. Yet there were a lot of odd things about. Firstly, the author was Katose High Druid of Kamo. Kira grew up knowing he was an evil man and had done something unspeakable to her mother. However, his entries characterized him as a noble hero who cared about his country and respected Kamo's royal family. He talked about his day, the problems he had to solve, and the battles he had to fight. Nothing stood out as evil. It seemed to contradict the stories she heard up until now. Yet the most interesting part is that he started each entry with "Dear Future Ruler of Kamo," which might be part of the reason Kamos gave the diary to Kira in the first place. These were written for her, even if Katose didn't know it.
As she read, she came to a series of entries where Katose described his "war with lust" and how he was struggling with his feelings, revealing he was lusting after Princess Zera. The words made Kira's stomach turn. Her heart pounded as she read how Katose became a prisoner to his lust, and it led him to violate her mother. The information made her so mad she threw the dairy a wall and started to cry, She then cried herself to sleep. The next morning, she trudged to breakfast. Her face was red and her eyes watery. Kamos understood but didn't know how she would react to the knowledge. "I, I learned about what Katose did," she said softly. "At least you know the truth. The truth I didn't know until an angel told me in a dream many years ago, and even then, he didn't reveal that much to me. I had to read those dark words, too. I still remember feeling angry because he rejoiced, he felt proud of himself, he felt no remorse." said Kamos he then patted Kira on the back to comfort her. "Now eat. Use the rage inside of you to become better than Katose. Also, today's training is going to be hard. Me and your step-uncle are going to spar with you at the same time." said Kamos as he started to eat a turkey leg. "What if I don't feel like training today? I just can't stop thinking about the fact that I was born out of lust and hate and not love. I was conceived in darkness, not light. How am I supposed to continue living knowing all of this? How am I supposed to be taken seriously now? How am I supposed to look into the mirror now, knowing I'm the daughter of a dead evil rapist?" Kira said on the verge of tears. "I don't know, but I do know that you can choose a different path. A path that involves love. I have tried my best to teach you and even had to rely on the knowledge of the dairy to figure out how to do it. Whether or not you like it, you are Katose's blood, but you are not his daughter, for you are mine." said Kamos as he then hugged her. Kira then cried as the words traveled to her ears. "Why are you crying?" asked Kamos. "I don't know. I just felt like it," said Kira as she continued to cry. A servant gave Kamos a handkerchief, and Kamos grabbed it. He then pulled away from Kira and began to wipe Kira's tears with the handkerchief. "Alright, now let's get ready to change. We have some training to do." Kira nodded and then went to her room to get her armor on.
As her maids strapped her armor, all Kira could think about was how Katose must've felt to have his druids drape him with his cloaks. How he must've felt knowing he was the most powerful druid in the country, only for that power to lead him astray. How many people knew of his dairy and the contents within them? How many people had the chance to peek but didn't out of respect and fear? How many people suspected that he was losing the war with lust, if any? How would events have changed had he been exposed before he kidnapped Zera? These questions kept repeating in Kira's mind over and over again. She hated how all she could think about was an evil dead man. A man who scarred a country and left a violent legacy for her to bear. How was she supposed to gain the loyalty and love of the kingdom once it's found out that her birth was not consensual between a married couple? More questions made her mind race more.
"Princess Kira. You alright?" asked one of the maids. "Huh?" asked Kira. "You don't look like yourself, what's wrong? You normally talk about how you're ready to spar, but today, you said nothing." said another maid. "Oh, don't worry about me. I just am growing up faster than I would like, that's all," she said with a fake smile. "Ain't that the truth," said one of the maids as she finished strapping on Kira's armor. All the girls then giggled. It was the first time Kira laughed that much in a good while. It was refreshing with all the dread she found herself in.
Kira then walked to the courtyard into the dirt arena where soldiers were training. Kamos and his brother Shelo were sparring with each other. They covered head to toe in gray armor, and the clashing of it was a spectacle. Some of the Kamo soldiers cheered when Kamos made a good move, while others cheered when Shelo did something similar or better. Then, in a couple of minutes, one of them managed to pin the other on the ground and forced a tapout. When the on top removed his helmet, Kira was surprised it was Shelo. Kira knew her step-uncle was a good warrior, but it would seem that this victory was well-earned. "Oh goody, Kira, you're here, and I see you are ready to spar. Give me and Kamos some rest, and we'll spar with you next," said Shelo as he walked to the edge of the railing of the arena, grabbed a waterskin, and drank it. Kamos did the same thing. "I should've seen his last attack coming. Gosh, I feel like an idiot right now. Hopefully, our match won't be as bad. Because I told Shelo we shouldn't hold back against you this time." said Kamos, panting as he talked. "No holding back? Why, I thought I wasn't ready for that yet?" said Kira. "Well, that was because you were scared, but now you have the motivation to be better, not just for the sake of it," said Kamos. "I don't follow," said Kira. "You are a sunflower and a dragon, right? Well, right now, you need to unleash that dragon and learn to control it. For the past several weeks, I've taught you to control yourself. This time, don't. This time, I want to see what happens when you lose you're cool. I want to see what happens when you're deeply angered by something because, in life, that will happen, and you need to know how you'll react. Also, fighting impossible odds." said Kamos as he finally cooled down and relaxed. Kira entered the arena, and even some of the maidservants came to watch with the soldiers. Some of the soldiers left to do their tasks or left thinking they weren't going to be entertained. Shelo and Kamos stood on one end, side by side, with weapons drawn, while Kira had only her hands ready to cast spells. "Ready?" asked Kamos. "Ready," answered Kira. Without a second of hesitation, Shelo and Kamos charged Kira. Kira began summoning vines and went for their legs. However, Shelo and Kamos managed to dodge or cut right through the vines. Kira then summoned a swarm of vines to protect herself. Shelo and Kamo began to stab into the vines and tear into the plant-based shield. Kira fell to the ground to avoid being stabbed. "So this is what happens when they don't hold back. Good to know," she said to herself. She then began to envision Shelo, a dragon claw ripping into her tiny vine hut. The sight scared her, and she began to cower in the dirt. She closed her eyes and began screaming out of fear.
The next thing she knew, she was staring at the dirt and looked around. Shelo and Kamos were on the ground covered in vines, and people had scared faces on them. Some of the soldiers held their weapons toward Kira as they dragged Shelo and Kamos away. "Haha, we did it. I knew you could do it." laughed Kamos. as he held his arm up in the air and then collapsed it to the ground. "Wait, you knew she could turn into a dragon and wanted her to do that?" asked Shelo, very annoyed. "A dragon?" Kira asked herself. "The Princess can turn into a dragon? She's slowly becoming like Katose." said a random person. The words shook Kira to the core, and it made her mad. "I AM NOTHING LIKE KATOSE! YOU HEAR ME!?" shouted Kira. The servants and soldiers then dispersed. Also, like they were ashamed or embarrassed by Kira. Once Kamos got to his feet, he walked to Kira. "You did it! Haha," he said as he picked up to hug her. he then put her down. "Why did everyone fear me?" asked Kira. "And why did they compare me to Katose?" Kamos looked a bit confused "Well, uh. Katose's mythical form was a dragon, and considering what he did. The people have a negative association of druids who can do that." answered Kamos. "Wait, so I turned into a dragon, just like Katose? Is that what you wanted?" asked Kira. "Yes, but I want you to change everyone's perspective. I want you to prove why they should treat this power like any other. Some people will use it for good, and others for evil. It's all a matter of the heart." said Kamos as he pointed to Kira's heart. "Never forget that. Never," said Kamos. Kira simply nodded. It was on that day Kira vowed she would be the opposite of Katose, where he failed, she would succeed. Where he fell, she would rise. Where he left scars, she would heal. Where he left destruction, she would rebuild or build something better.
That was 15 years ago, and now, as the new queen of Kamo, she did just that. She ruled fairly and justly. She gave birth to several children and was even said to be a better ruler than most of her predecessors. It was for this reason, among other things, that she would go down in history as either the "Dragon Queen" or the "Sunflower of Kamo." She died not as the daughter of Katose but as the stepdaughter of Kamos. For she hid her true heritage from those outside the Kamo Castle. A secret that was kept hidden for centuries until Noone's forces came and found the knowledge while raiding the castle. Statues and portraits still exist to this day in various museums across the Nocees Empire and of which have been seen by millions each year.
