Author's Note: I purposely did this story two times in a row due to word count purposes. If you think that it is rushed and I should add more, let me know and I will! Please ignore the second time the story is written! Thanks! :)
Sandy
I stood up against the brick wall with my arms crossed. I was waiting in the elementary school hallway for my granddaughter so I could take her home. There was a young woman next to me with wavy blonde hair and who was nicely dressed.
“Who are you waiting for?” I turned to her and she smiled.
“My two boys; one’s in kindergarten and the other’s in third grade. How about you?”
Jessica
The woman that I was speaking with had red hair-spiked-and was dressed casually.
“My granddaughter; she’s in fourth grade. I’m Sandy by the way.” Sandy stuck her hand out to me and I shook it.
“I’m Jessica. It’s nice to meet you.” I let go of her hand and smiled. Sandy smiled back.
“I’ve never seen you here before. Are you from around here?” My phone dinged, so I reached into my purse and silenced it.
“Yes, but most of the time I’m still working. I got off today. I’m assuming you pick up your granddaughter a lot then?”
Sandy
I checked my watch, and there was only five minutes left until the school bell would ring signaling the students to leave their classrooms.
“Yup. I pick her up every Friday for my son. He works up north.” Jessica nodded and I smiled.
“That’s nice. Both my parents and my husband’s parents live in Hawaii, so I don’t have that kind of perk. But the boys are always glad when we get to go down to Hawaii to visit.” Jessica laughed as if remembering something funny, then the school bell rang. There was a sudden eruption of kids’ voices and running feet. I looked around for Chrissy-my granddaughter-and spotted her walking down the hallway with a couple of friends beside her.
Jessica
I searched around for my boys, and could tell that Sandy was doing the same for her granddaughter. I spotted them pushing and shoving each other down the hallway. I waved and the moment they noticed me they stopped messing around.
“Walking feet please!” I saw a teacher looking out of her classroom with a disapproving look. Sandy chuckled and I rolled my eyes.
“Hey, Mom!” My little kindergartener, Blake, came running up to me and gave me a huge hug.
“Hi, Mom.” My third grader, Weston, just stood in front of me with a blank face.
“Alright, bye, guys! See ya’ Monday! Hey, Grandma.” Sandy’s granddaughter gave her a hug and smiled at me.
“I gotta get this little monster home.” Sandy winked at me and I laughed.
Sandy
“Me, too. But I have two monsters! Have a good one.” Jessica smiled and started leading her boys towards the exit.
“You, too!” I looked at Chrissy and she nodded. We walked out of the exit doors, both of us with a smile on our faces. We walked to the car and got in. I started the car and we drove away. Just the normal.
The End!

Enjoyed the read and can understand the duplicate at times as I try to figure out how to get to the word count. Great dialogue!

Hey Brooke! This story is very good. In my opinion, you shouldn't have done it twice. Like maybe add a little more to it. Don't be offended. It's really okay if you don't want to. My favorite part of this story has to be you narrating it from both the perspectives. Good job!
