“Can you keep a secret?” Bradford asked Riggs as his clenched his fingers. Riggs was stuffing his face in a Cheese Souffle, he tilted his head in response to the question as he sat across Bradford. “C'mon Brad, we've been best friends since College. You me and Rhonda, if you're gonna tell me a secret, it won't be the first.”
“Yeah! But this is different, it's my biggest secret and you can't tell Rhonda.”
Riggs looked at him in surprise, “But Rhonda is your wife and our best friend, we don't keep secrets from ourselves.”
“You can't tell any of it to her.” Brad leaned closer to Riggs making a grim face, “Like you said, you're my best friend and that's why am gonna trust you with this.”
Riggs with his mouth still full of Souffle tried to give the most convincing answer. “You can trust me bro.”
Brad sighed, “I like guys.”
“What do you mean you like guys,?” Riggs asked sharply.
“Riggs, Am gay!”
Riggs shifted his attention from the Souffle, the perplexity on his face was priceless. “What! Brad,” He chuckled, “If this is a joke, it's not funny at all.”
“Am serious,” Brad placed his slender hands on his forehand in discomfort. “Remember that my business trip to New York, 3 months ago?”
“Yeah!”
“My boss and I shared to room and... And then it just happened, I don't know how! But it was the best sex experience of my life.”
“But you have a wife Brad!” He barked. “You've been married for a year and now you're gay! Are you nuts?”
“I know it's crazy but it's true, ever since that night I couldn't stop thinking about it.”
“But, Brad, this is wrong. You have an amazing wife who loves and adores you. Am not against your choice of gender but why didn't you realize it before you married Rhonda?”
“I know and I feel like such an idiot, I married Rhonda because I thought I loved her but ever since that night, I couldn't stop thinking about guys and I just have to face the truth. Am gay!”
“Oh my God! This is messed up Brad. What are you gonna do now?”
“I don't know, but you can't tell Rhonda.”
“That's gonna be hard Brad, she's our best friend.”
“You can't tell her!” Brad yelled. “It's the bro code Riggs, you gotta zip it.”
“Fine!” Riggs said looking gloomy.
“I have to get back to work, my lunch break is almost over, thanks for listening bro.” He pats Riggs's back and walked off.
Riggs couldn't get what Brad told him off his mind. He has been avoiding Rhonda since that day, he felt Pangs of guilt, Rhonda was his best friend too and he just couldn't condone the idea of keeping secrets from her. “How can Brad be so stupid,” He soliloquied. “Rhonda's an amazing woman, she always have been. If I had my way, I would go back to our College days and did was I wasn't man enough to do. How can anyone cheat on a sensation like Rhonda?” Riggs didn't know how long he could keep the secret, his heart was always throbbing when he was with Rhonda. But, he didn't want to break his promise to Brad, He was flustered.
Brad sat on his bed looking a nervous when his Wife, Rhonda walked in from the bathroom. She was wearing the sexiest night dress ever, her long dark hair fell on her amazing boobs, she walked closer to Brad and touched his shoulders, she had a concupiscent look on her face. She leaned closer and sat in his laps, she could feel his dick right up her ass which propelled her to kiss him slowly, but he was indifferent about it. “Rhonda, please stop!” He moved away gently. “I had a long day at work, I need to rest.”
“Oh!” She muttered with a frown. “Alright then, goodnight!” she peaked him slightly on the nose and drifted to sleep.
Riggs sat in the Coffee Shop when he noticed Rhonda walking towards him. He had been avoiding her ever since, but he knew he couldn't escape this one.
“Hi, Riggs,” She sat.
“Hello Rhonda,” He nimbly picked up his coffee mug to avoid eye contact. “What are you doing here?”
“Well, I've been calling you, you weren't answering. I went to your house, you weren't there, So, I knew you would come here, it's our favorite place remember? Plus, I know you have nowhere else to go” She smirked. “You're such a simple guy.”
“Oh!” He chuckled. “Is there a problem?” He asked eagerly.
“Not really, I wanted to talk to you about Brad.”
“What about Brad?” He gulped.
“Well, nothing really, it's just he's been acting weird lately. He barely talks to me, he's always out and umm...” She leaned closer and looked around the Cafe to see if anyone was paying attention to them before she finally said, “We haven't had sex for months now, he keeps giving flimsy excuses. He doesn't pay attention to me like he used to. Am I doing something wrong?”
“No! You're not” He replied quickly. “I'll talk to him.”
“Thanks Riggs. I know I can always count on you.” She tenderly touched his face with a grin, “I have to go, got an appointment.”
“Alright, take care.” As Rhonda walked off, Riggs couldn't help but feel more guilty. He vowed to talk sense into Brad.
There was a knock on the front door, it was Brad. Riggs swiftly opened the door, and they both walked to the Couch and sat.
“What's up Riggs? You asked to see me, is there a problem?”
“Yes, there is,” He yelled. “Rhonda is starting to complain about you, she's notice you're different.”
Brad placed two fingers in between his eyes. “Riggs, am tired. I can't stand her anymore, I can't stand being with a woman anymore.”
“What do you mean you can't stand her anymore?” He squinted his eyes. “Brad! She not just your wife, she's your best friend! Our best friend. I thought you'll stop all this nonsense.”
“Riggs, I can't stop, it's who I am.” He shrieked. “I'm Gay, I'm into guys. I can't have sex with Rhonda again, I can't.”
“Then tell her the truth, stop keeping her in the dark, you're hurting her!”
“I'm planning on telling her...”
“When?” Riggs interrupted. “When exactly? After you have finished having your ass penetrated, Uhn?”
Brad looked at Riggs in bewilderment, he had never seen him this angry before. “I'll do it. Stay out of my life Riggs, you're not my mom, you can't tell me how to live my life.” Brad walks out and slammed the door. Riggs had never been this confused in his life, he didn't know what to do, but he couldn't stand seeing Rhonda get hurt.
A month later, Brad had gone on another business trip and still he hadn't told Rhonda. The trip was a long one. Rhonda couldn't help but feel lonely but Riggs was always there, comforting her. She couldn't have asked for a better friend. Riggs and Rhonda were having dinner at his house, he couldn't help but gaze at her, she looked so beautiful.
“What are you starting at?” Rhonda beamed.
“I'm staring at a beautiful woman.”
“Don't make me blush, Riggs” She laughed.
“But it's true.”
As her hand caressed the fork, she stared at him with a smile. “Speaking of women, is there anyone in your life?”
“Nah! Single as always.”
“C'mon Riggs, you need to focus on your love life, you're 32. You need to find love and possibly start up your family.”
“Well umm, I'm trying!”“
Try harder!”
“Yes mam!”
They both laughed and enjoyed their meal.
Riggs held his steering firmly, he drove so fast regardless of speed limits. Rhonda had called him, crying, telling him to come over, and he was heading there as fast as he could. His thoughts were Brad had told her everything. He wanted to be there to comfort her as always. Finally, he got to the house and found Rhonda crying on the couch.
“Why are you crying?” He wrapped his arms around her.
“ Brad and I had a fight” She sobbed. “Ever since he came back from his trip, he rarely talks to me, whenever I try to talk to him, he walks away. I approached him today to tell me if I've done something wrong to him, and he yelled at me, I didn't know what to do, so I yelled back, and we argued for a while then he just left.”
“Don't cry, everything is going to be fine.”
“ Riggs! Is there something I did wrong?”
“No! You didn't do anything wrong. Brad's an idiot, he doesn't deserve you.”
“What do you mean?” She suddenly stopped crying and looked him in the eye. Riggs knew he couldn't take it anymore, it was the height of it all, so he decided to tell her everything.
“Listen Rhonda,” He placed his hands on her tender face. “We've been best friends since College and I... Well I hid my feelings from you.” He looked at her will all passion. “I love you Rhonda. I always have, but I was young and naive, I didn't know how to tell you. When Brad asked you to marry him, I felt like dying but there was nothing I could do. I had to live with the constant pain, I still love you so much.”
Rhonda stared at him astounded, she was speechless. Riggs knew he might have ruin his friendship with her and that was his greatest fear, he looked down in disappointment. Suddenly, she gently raised his face and kissed him. He couldn't believe his eyes, he was kissing his heartthrob, another man's wife. He knew it was wrong, and he wanted to stop but, 99% of him wanted that kiss, her lips were the softest he had ever kissed. They kissed so passionately. Rhonda came back to her senses and quickly moved away. “Am sorry!” She recited as she held her lips.
“No! You don't have to be sorry,” He leaned closer. “There's something I need to tell you, Brad's not who you think he is.”
Rhonda looked at him attentively. “What do you mean?”
Riggs sighed and looked at her for a while before he slowly said, “I'm gonna let you in on a secret.”

Good work with shifting the P.O.V's.

A difficult story to tell. Good job with the struggle Riggs felt with keeping the secret. Maybe a little bit more perspective from Brad and the guilt of cheating and lying to his wife. :)

Thanks for your suggestion, I thought about that too but I had to work with the number of words required. I sure am gonna rewrite.

Yes, i think it would work a lot better. Otherwise, Brad just comes across as a jerk and I think that kind of situation has a lot more layers then that. Especially if they were all best friends. It is hard to covey it all in a mere 3000 words. I will definetely keep an eye on more of your stories. :)
