“I've got a plan.” a voice cold and raspy called out from afar, a faint whisper if you will. Where did it come from? As the folds of deep and encapsulating darkness creep in. The figure shriveled and decrepit lay in the corner of the room. “W-who are you?” he heard someone call out with a quivering voice. Squinting his foggy eyes all that was visible was a shadow shriveled in the corner… “but not just any shadow” he pondered “for why was it cast a pain and almost glowing shade of white. If it is in fact a shadow then how, what is casting it, what light source is causing this.” his vision growing more acuston to the darkness. For he could not seem to avert his gaze from the shadowed figure. For how long had he been staring. The longer he observed it, it never seemed to move, it was slowly moving. Being as cautious as possible, in this new environment of mystery. As his footing slowly shifted with him. Raising from his knees, To his toes, to finally flat on his feet. He felt a sense of dread, as his heart sank to his knees. “Had it moved?” his pupils shrank as his eyes widened like a rising full moon. “Where did it come from.” he questioned himself. For the question arose yet again who are you. Not to the shadow that his gaze stayed fixed on. “R- REVEAL YOURSELF!” he called. “What's the matter?” the other had called, almost taunting him. It would seem that they were making no regard to the unknowns of the shadow. “Come now, don't be shy, tell us now sir we promised to help you sir.” a voice called yet again from the corner next to the man, who could not look away, except this time it wasnt a cold man's deep raspy voice. It was a girl, a high pitched little girl's voice. The man couldn't think, he could barely breathe, he stood there frozen in fear, and he felt it begin to overtake him. How… as the voices began to echo. He could no longer maintain his fearful gaze.``come now don't be afraid” the voice called out with a sound so soft, who wouldn't want to respond to the comforting call. “N-N-NO!” he yelped as he whipped his head towards the sound. Quickly returning his gaze to the shadow as he realized what he had done. It no longer sits quivering in the coroner, hands over its eyes. “It had moved” he wondered. But how. As it stood before him now with its eyes widened as if it was just as scared as he was. Its eyes. A painful shade of black, so dull a void that consumed all even the light, though there was little. Feeling its cold gaze peering deep inside him, as if it was slowly increasing the pressure as a dagger was pushed through his heart. “Come now tell us what you plan to do here little one” his raspy voice echoing through the walls it would seem. Laughing with their voice of sirens, so soft, so peaceful it started “well sir, i-i i must tell you sir. For then you'd leave us again sir, c-cant have that now can we.” as the faint child's voice led into a deep and phasing, as if the voice had overtaken the young girl's voice and trapped it into the darkness itself. “Come now little one i-i won't leave you, you can tell me. Come now a-are you not scared little one?”. He couldn't help it any longer. Begging to blink, loosening his muscles as the shadow had not seemed to move. Yet. he slowly shifted his weight, his head to his legs as he slowly turned to what he seemed to have allowed himself to believe to be a little girl in need, one who could perhaps even help him escape where this was. As he turned slowly and as careful as his mind allowed him, leaving his back exposed to the shadow of light. “Come here, little one?” he crackled the words out, as to distract his mind from the fear onl to find… where. As his eyes drifted shut to help adjust after staring for so long. “Now little one come, i'll help you. Are you not scared?” his eyes still adjusting as he called out. “Now sir, what nonsense is this? Why would we be scared? You do not scare us. We only want to help you sir. But we must…No we must tell you sir. Then we would be in trouble sir. They would be mad at us sir. We wouldn't want them mad sir. So why, why would we be scared, tell me please?”. The man still confused outstretched his hand to where his eyes deceptively envisioned a child to be.``come now child i don't know what that is or where i am. Please come, can we make a deal?”. “NO” the sound echoing through the room that held them captive. Loud, sharp, and deep. The child, whoever she was, had gone. gone? Taken? Whatever had become of her as her voice echoed through his head, being overtaken by the echo of fear. His hand quickly retreated as the sound had gone. Ceased completely. He stood there still, with all sound gone, the room had gone silent. Completely silent. “Where, no, how, where did she go, why can't i hear anything, no, NO!”he could feel all the sounds in his head, but none were there. Not a sound not even his breath, as if he his eardrums had burst. “ thought he would never shut up” the silent voice called from behind. His weight shifting from one leg to another as he turned fater then his mind would allow him t think. Only to find... nothing? Nothing at all. That was his problem you see, where had it gone. “Whats the matter, looking for someone?” whipping his head to the sound, only to wish he hadnt. “The shadow?“ a faint echoing in his head continued. “-who are you, where am i, where have you come from, wh- what are you?” he found himlesf unable to utter as of yet. “I must speck”. “ what are you, a-and where have you taken me” he quaked with nothing but the sound of utter fear in his voice. “Come now, do you not remember me?” it sounded as though it was everywhere, and yet had it ever stoped speaking. “Ah yes, why ask me who i am. Have you any clue who you are?”. “Had i” he pondered for a moment. A moment that seemed to stretch on for hours. “had i?”. “What's the matter? Stumped?” in a confident tone, mocking him even. “Of course, a face so familiar makes for one too easy to forget, doesn't it?” hissing at him. “Or perhaps is it the fact that you have chosen to forget, yet again” kackling at him with a slight sas of annoyance in his sound.”Perhaps I should let you forget, heh then again where's the fun in that? Well its not like we remember this moment. Do we?” he whispered. “So eager to forget, how had it some to this. How have we let ourselves get so comfortable with forgetting things so simple.” his voice raising with what one might even call a faint laugh.``howz about it then SHALL I REMIND YOU”. The shadow called as its hands covered the man's face, consuming his mind. The flooding in of thoughts would take him soon. ”Come now… old… friend” as the man's face became as painful and lifeless as the shadows that consumed him. “ REMEMBER YOURSELF NOW DEAR LAMASHTU!” he screamed as the fear consumed them both. Swiftly as the mans pail face, had now revealed eyes black, as the shadows. “DO YOU REMEMBER YOURSELF NOW! NO PLAN CAN EVER HELP YOU ESCAPE! YOUR OURS NOW!” as the shadow had now encapsulated the man completely, devouring himself.“ah yes we dont remember that part, or at least we aren't meant to, not again.” the quivering shadow began to creep back into its corner still dragging along the man's dead body. Returning to the position with its claws over its eyes as they turned into humanoid hands, and said ”im back”, is a tone as if to taunt the corps as he began to fast on its flesh. Throwing the bones into the corner where the voices had seemed to come from to start with. “And now to forget him” it said in an almost cheerful tone. As the shadow pulled its head apart and began humming to itself; ”come now we're not alone, we found our way, back to my home, come ,now,come now, come now back to the depths you see, that's my home deep within these screams”. Its head a pail white yet again, in one piece, it seemed to have forgotten what had just happened. It lay in the corner still frozen, not a sound, a voice, a drip, or even a thought to be heard again. The end, sleep now little one;
