WHAT ELSE ARE THE WOODS FOR?

Mystery

So if you go down in the woods today

please tread very carefully all of the way;

For if you are lucky, and tiptoe with poise,

(it’s everso ’portant to NOT make a noise!)

You might get a glimpse if you’re quiet, like I said,

of a panda or grizzly or some other ted.

But will he be sleeping and snoring away –

tucked under a bush or a bushell of hay?

Or will he be hunting for berries and fruit

or running around in his bare birthday suit?!

Or scratching his back on a Butternut tree

or following the buzz of a big honeybee?

Or lifting up stones and uprooting plants

or checking his trousers for ants in his pants?!

Or clearing his throat in the evening breeze

and singing some a song ’bout his bear n’essities?!

Or taking the prickles off prickly pears

(although where he’s sticking them - nobody dares!)

So where and so what would you find in a wood

when searching for bears in the way that you should?

Well, ladies and gentlemen, I’ve news for you –

a bear is most often found SAT ON A LOO!

For some things are certain and since times of yore -

what else do you think woods and forests are for?!

This is of course, a poem rather than prose. However, I have always thought the best prose reads like poetry - so I've simply taken a short cut!
