This story contains mentions of gore/violence, the mention of the word suicide, and language.
Note: This story is connected to my first story here: Impatience Definitely Does Kill. I recommend reading that first, however you don't have too. These stories work on their own too.
The room was dark, the only source of light was the hanging chandelier in the middle of the room. Underneath that, a table that had a body strapped to the it and four young adults who stood around the table. "Are.. Are we really going to do this?" He asked the others, unsure.
"We've been studying and testing this for the past four years." She answered sharply. "We have too."
"Addison- I agree with Jayden-"
"Simon, we've designed our college paths for this. We can't back out now. Not when we're so close to defeating Mary!" Jayden shrunk in on himself meanwhile Simon simply sighed.
"This is her husband, Addi. Do you really think she won't notice it?" Lyda glanced around the room, watching Jayden pick at the skin on his arm. She merely blinked, looking back at the other two.
"She killed her immediate family. Do you really think she cares about this newbie?"
"Simon's still right." A calm fluid voice called out.
"Shut up, Lyda. You want to kill Mary just as much as I do."
"I just want to kill Luelmind." She does realize there's three Luelmind here, right? Jayden thought glancing at Simon, the other natural born Luelmind, before glancing over to Addi. Never mind... I might be the only one who can sense them. Jayden sighed looking at his arm. His head twitched seeing how red it was.
"Well-" Simon said with a nervous chuckle. Jayden and him shared a concern look. "This is gonna get awkward." Lyda merely blinked.
"Just don't have children. The Luelmind have lived long enough." She's not wrong. But compared to our ancestors? The vampires? We're nothing. Jayden scratched at his arm a little more. It bled.
"Jayden- knock it off." Simon said. Jayden quickly looked at him. "You're not the only other born Luelmind here."
"Wait- Addison is a-"
"Let's get to work." Addison said sharply, interrupting Lyda. Jayden licked the blood off of his finger before having his hand hover over the wound, shielding it from the light.
Simon, Addison and Lyda walked closer to the table and Jayden wandered over to the little tray, on the mini table near the one with the straps. He handed Simon a small scalpel and a vial of something.
"So- Einstein." Jayden says. "Do your thing."
"What first?" Addison asked rolling up her sleeves. Jayden shifted uncomfortably watching her eyes.
"We cut 'em open and get this," He swirls the vial. "Into his system."
---Hours Later---
"That was a lot more work than necessary." Lyda said staring at the body still strapped to the table. "My only question is, why did we put all that stuff in him?" Lyda asked. "If we're using him to kill Mary and a majority of the other Luelmind, why are we making him so Gods damned strong-"
"Because he's going to kill the others. We Luelmind, while still very different from those dead and gone vampires, we are descended from them."
The Zaiden family is such a mess. Jayden thought to himself. First Rurik Zaiden found a vampire corpse from a random battle and all because of pressure by his interests he experimented on the damn thing. I don't know how he didn't think for the being to attack him. He looked at Addison. Humans, turned Luelmind.. Neither learn anything from their historical mistakes.
"... That's fair." Lyda commented. "What is he supposed to do? I mean.. He's human- er- was... What's to change?"
"He should have the ability to seek where Luelmind, turned or not, are. And hopefully, the ability to kill them." Simon answered folding his arms, admiring the state of his work.
"It's not going to be easy to kill Mary, you know.." Jayden said. He started to pick at himself again. It didn't help that it was in the same place as before. "Richard doesn't show us his full power and you see what he can do. Imagine her strength. She was born a Luelmind because of Rurik's stupidity-"
"Leave my ancestors out of-" Addison started to say. Jayden simply kept on talking. Simon's head twitched smelling the blood.
"And she's had over a century to hone her skills natural, earned or otherwise. Do you really think one creature is going to stop her? Especially her husband? Surely he knows of her abilities!" Simon inhaled deeply. Lyda went over and sat on a nearby couch. Glancing at Jayden, Simon joined her in the couch sitting.
"Simon has been working on this specific project all throughout college, Jayden. He's a born Luelmind-" Simon twitched. "He knows the strength their capable of. The Project will succeed."
"No pressure." Simon commented leaning back onto the couch. Jayden looked at them all. This thing.. It's going to kill all of us. Don't they realize that? He's the wife of Mary Zaiden the First, mother of hundreds of Luelmind. He's probably a power hungry prick like my father! He picked at his arm even more.
"Let's put him in the box.. While he's not awake his body needs to heal. As do we." Addison instructed. She looked at the three, making sure they knew she was serious. When she looked at Jayden and the blood, her head twitched.
---Week Maybe Two Later---
"Welcome home children." Richard said with a small bow. Addison quickly walked past him. "Oh-" He commented, eyeing her storm off to her room. He looked at the other three before inhaling deeply. "... Simon, my son- what's the matter?" He eyed the other two who were silent. Simon looks dead.
"We completed the Project." He replied plainly. Richard looked at his son with wide eyes.
"It only took three weeks. I'm surprised. Our tests usually took months to complete." Lyda commented before heading into the kitchen. "You have Fanta, right Richard?" She hollered.
"I do!" He replied eyeing his son and the older Luelmind. "How did it go?" He asked quietly. Hopefully well.. You abandoned your art teaching degree for a biochemistry one.. All for this. His son merely stared at him. He sighed deeply. "I admire Addison's will.. She's much like Rurik in many ways."
"That's terrifying." Jayden said shoving his hands into his hoodie pockets.
"It is." Richard agreed. "My father, Nicolas, told me many tales of Rurik... All I learnt of him was tainted by the natural Zaiden urge for success."
"The natural pressure of basically all of them being so successful doesn't help either." Lyda says creeping out of the kitchen with an orange fanta float.
"Ooo- gimme gimme-" Jayden called, jogging towards the psychic. Their laughs faded into the background.
"Do you believe the Project will succeed?"
".. I don't know. This is the first time I've tested on a human.." Richard rubbed his face.
"I hope for all of our sake's that you've done well my son."
"I do too, father.. If the Project fails.. Addison's going to go mad."
---One Year Later---
Jayden sat on the tree branch staring at the carnage with blank cold eyes. "You knew.. This entire time." A voice said. Moments later Jayden felt a thud onto the branch. "Didn't you?"
"I did."
Simon let out a long breath. "At least the Project didn't kill any humans."
"Lyda was a human. Richard's family."
"I know.." Simon said as his throat tightened. Richard's my father. Lyda, your lover.
"So, Einstein.." Jayden stood up. "What do we do now? Addison moved all the way to Europe, took her boy toy with her."
"As long as we don't go to Europe.. I'm all for whatever you are."
"I want to kill Mary."
"You and Addison are obsessed with that." The genius groaned.
"Wouldn't you want to kill your psychotic abusive manipulative mother?" Jayden barked. They stared at each other, freezing in place. Shit. Shit shit shit! Please don't-
"Well-" Simon said with a cough. "That explains quite a few things." Jayden blinked, confused.
"A suicidal Luelmind?" He asked folding his arms. "That's really not a thing."
"Fair." He commented.
---Seven Years Later---
"Jayden, Jayden, Jayden!"
"What?" The brunette groaned.
"Addison has kids-" Jayden shot up from the couch. His head whipped around looking for Simon.
"What?-"
"Look!" He comments, appearing in front of him. He pointed at a picture of Addison on his phone. She had twins. Jayden blinked.
"She- she has twins.."
"It's insane.." He says looking at the post. "She says they're eight-" The two quickly looked up at one another. Jayden gulped seeing Simon's face contort. "She was pregnant, Jayden."
"It.. It looks like it."
"She- she- Fuck!" He screamed, slamming the phone onto the couch. Jayden jumped in his skin.
"Si-simon- she, she is a Luelmind I mean-"
"It doesn't matter, Jayden!" He screamed. "That thing killed my father! What do you think it could do to her?" His hands pulled at his hair.
"Hey- hey-" Jayden says, reaching to rub Simon's back. "It- it's okay-"
"If- if that thing learns- oh fuck it already knows! Shit shit-"
"Hey-.. hey hey.." He hugs him tightly. "It's okay. She's in Europe.. The Project is in America. We're both keeping an eye on things here.. It's okay, you know that, right?"
"I... I.. I have a bad feeling, Jayden.. Something's gonna happen. I just-"
"We're both paranoid queers. Calm down, Einstein.. Okay?"
"Okay.."
