I arrived. The red and black stripes styling the tent set the already suspenseful mood. I had heard about a new magic show that performed real tricks, not fake ones. I decided to go alone considering there was a warning on the ticket that read, "Viewer discretion advised, this show contains violence, gore and possibly the dismemberment of human body.” Marketing tactics. I assume they wrote that to scare people into coming, they can't get sales otherwise huh. Funny. I found my seat at the front and heard other people sit behind me. We waited in the shadows until we were all blinded by the sudden lights that illuminated the lower platform. A man dressed as a magician appeared below. “Thank you all for coming tonight. All my years in this business I’ve seen nothing but trickery and fake shows. Nothing was genuine, and I despised that. I’ve decided that an audience deserves a real performance and set my heart on bringing that to life. Enjoy this first act.” With that, a woman rose onto the platform in a box that exposed the parts of her body that we usually only get to imagine. “For our first act, the saw trick” The magician said with a devilish smile. “Bring me… THE SAWWWW” He shouted, with such voracity the audience of lions roared even louder. A woman with only eyes to observe, stepped onto the platform and dropped to her knees raising the saw above her head. The magician raised the “deadly” weapon and aligned at the exposed woman's midsection where there was a line for the saw in the x-ray of a box. “Children, look away” was his only warning before running the blade across the woman like it was his legs in a race. I can see the woman's face change to extreme anguish as she started screeching. The audience remained unhinged as I could truly see the wild animal on their lustful faces. The magician kept going until I could see her intestines fall out next to her. Her face was now still, as if time had stopped and the injuries warranted little pain. But I knew she had to be dead. This procedure cuts the brain stem and spine, which is going to stop everything else from working, leaving two lifeless halves of what was a human. “Take her away. She is nothing to me anymore” The magician ordered, and out came more concealed women with only their dark pupils exposing that they are one of us. They pushed the box out of sight and only the magician was left on stage. “I think I need a volunteer for this next one” The lions roared. “Ahh, you young lady, come on stage.” A daisy of a woman made her way up onto the platform in front of the magician. “That was like totally not real right? cause that was gross.” the blonde disapproved. The magician stopped. I could see an anger rise out of the pores of his skin and a dark aura started to surround him. His eyes became motionless as he looked at the young women in front of him. “I’m so disappointed that you didn’t like the show. Maybe you’ll like this act more” he answered genuinely. I could tell her comments saddened him and he clearly wanted to do better so I watched, just like everyone else in the audience. The speed of light couldn't compare to the sudden darkness we sat in as we waited. When the lights turned back on there was a tightrope suspended in the air with a death toll clearly higher than the height of the Hollywood sign. A spotlight flashed on the confused young woman's face. “Are you ready darling?” The magician questioned “Ready for what? You don’t really expect me to walk on that do you?” She laughed. He smirked with something malicious and I started to question if this “magician” was even a human. “Take her up girls” Again the concealed women that took away the first body emerged out of the darkness and gripped the young women with such force I can see blood appear in their nails. “Let go of me- get off, you can’t do this to me” The women fought and pulled but to no avail. The masked women were not going to let her go as they awaited orders from the magician. “Oh no. I never want you to feel as if there is not a choice.” The magician said with concern- whether it was genuine or not was the question. “How about we ask the audience if they want to see this next act. Before the audience went wild he put his finger up to his lips and silenced them. “You” His gloved finger found a target.
Me.
“Young man, do you feel this lovely woman should endure this act for us?” He chose me. This woman's precious life could be spared by this corrupt magician based on what I say now. She looked at me, distraught and desperate, depending on me to save her life. I winked at her and gave a reassuring smile. I could see some relief take hold of her scratched up body. I stood up. “I came for a show, and I paid good money for it. So I don’t believe me or anyone who put all this effort into coming here, should be derived from a good act. Even if, you have to get a little hurt.” I said calmly. At that moment, I could see her face turn white. Any trickle of hope she had before I opened my mouth was now obliterated. Finally, she registered that a few seconds from now she was going to die and I couldn’t contain my ecstasy upon seeing that. I received quite the standing ovation for my words from the audience and I sat down in my seat to enjoy the next act, tightrope. The masked women dragged her towards the ladder of the tightrope and she started climbing up. She no longer put up any fight or resistance knowing it would all be useless in the end. She arrived at the top and looked down at me. I couldn’t really analyze the expression on her face but to think that I was the last thing she was going to see before her untimely demise gave me the ultimate orgasm. One not needed by sex. It didn’t even take one step on that hair strand before she lost balance and fell off. Her body plummeted to the ground and her head cracked open leaving a yolk of blood surrounding her exposed birdbrain. “I think you made the right decision young man” The magician said to me in approval. I could see people in the audience's faces relax as the tension was released. They looked dazed, as if tired but they didn’t want to stop watching. “Now, I know the last two acts have been extreme, but I have one last act for you all today. This will be a group act involving strength and teamwork. I’ll need 10 young men as volunteers.” I can see multiple men in the audience stand up and look around at each other, hesitating. “Listen, these acts were not just circus tricks or magic acts, they were performances celebrating art in every sense. Stretching the human body's limits and creating something better is the whole purpose of putting this show together. Right now all of you have the opportunity to be a part of something bigger, and trust me when I say I have the utmost intentions for you all today.'' This was enough for them, as they all headed up to the platform and crowded around the magician. “I must say you all look like fine young men and I’m elated to have you all a part of this next piece. Ladies… get set” It was now revealed that the masked women elevated on the platform above the audience held onto large machine guns aiming them at the men on the lower platform. The men grew restless confused as to why they were being pointed at. “NOW!” In that moment, I closed my eyes and let the symphony of bullets blasting off limbs cushion my ears. It truly was a work of art. Without being able to see, can you still make your audience feel? Yes, yes he did. I now opened my eyes and took in the scene in front of me. All of the men were alive but had several limbs blown off. They were all screaming in crying from what I assume to be excruciating pain. "Now for our last act, the human pyramid.” Oh wow this is something truly wicked. “Ladies…” The women came down from the platforms and started picking up the parts of the men that at least had their heads attached. They stacked bloody limb on top of limb until the messy shape of a pyramid was executed. The whole thing was glorias. The display of human balancing on human to form a bigger picture, to use each other to create something bigger than ourselves, is the true meaning of life. I couldn’t be anymore grateful I got to be a part of this experience. Thank you Magician, for giving me a real show.
