23.00 P.M.

Dear diary

Greetings of the day! Today was my second day of cardio workout in gym and I was as exhausted as I was yesterday. I was proud of myself for making a great decision to sleep early and rise early. To implement this plan, I requested everyone at home not to disturb me while I doze off… However, what happened in the morning made me realize that it wasn’t a noteworthy decision. Here to tell you the funniest thing when I laughed my lungs out, even tears rolled down my cheeks. I laughed so hard.

Do you remember the guest who visited us previous night? Despite my repeated advice of not occupying the room between the tenants and mine, he disobeyed. Probably his act of disobedience brought him the bad experience along with troubles as bonus. On the other hand, it brought immense joy and fun for me. So my morning started with someone’s sob. It was none other than my favorite cousin, Clair who was the narrator of the hilarious story. He’s the best cousin for me because our personality resembles and we like trying new activities we think we are probably good at. Above all for a literature enthusiast like me having an article writer as a relative is fascinating, doesn’t it? I’ll share the story in sequence.

He was up at night at the time I usually sleep. (Yeah! You guessed right, at 1 o’clock). He was editing an article which was about to finish. It was something regarding “Creative Creature’s crafts concerns”. Being creative, something struck him and he wished to make an origami butterfly. After scratching his head couple of times, he was finally done. The beautiful butterfly seemed as if it would soon flutter by. He wanted it to be placed on the board behind the door. So he searched for the pins and after finding it in drawer; he rushed to get his android so that he could capture a glimpse. He frantically searched and searched and searched… accidentally he pulled up the bed sheet which made the entire pin case empty. Being satisfied with the pictures, he finally placed the pins back to their original position. Clair prepared his bed.

He believed washing hands, feet and face before sleeping could be refreshing. So he did the required, applied moisturizer and was back to bed to have sweet dreams. It won’t be wrong to say that mosquitoes disliked the idea of sharing room with a stranger. They began attacking, I mean biting him as they would never stop. But they were unaware that this stranger was good at shooting. So good that even when he aimed with closed eyes, he smashed one… but on his own face. Ugh! Too bad, he had to clean up once again.

After returning, he used his fast card and felt he was on his way to have a comfy sleep. Not again… he was proved very wrong in predicting future. The tenants who lived adjacent to his room had the habit of cooking at 2 A.M. everyday. The dry coconuts’ smell produced while frying began his countless sneezes. He was allergic to this smell and wanted to get rid of it. So he immediately opened all the doors and windows of the room. Soon the room was filled with fresh air and was odorless.

He was once again ready to doze off. This time too he was wrong… he heard an evil cackle of a witch which came from neither from the radio nor from behind the door but from his own smartphone. Clair had set it himself to scare me. Really? (I’m still fine as he received the punishment of his attempts sooner or later). Anyways, he attended the call from his childhood friend who shifted to Azores as his elementary education finished. He was Peter, his closest friend who was still in touch with him. He called to seek advice on writing an article as writing articles was Peter’s hobby. He could neither refuse nor ask him to look at the watch because his watch would show 8.38 P.M. at night whereas he was longing for a good night’s sleep. He chatted endlessly for hours long seeing how passionate he was towards his hobby. Peter was very eager to write so he hung the call with the words “have haunted dreams, my pal”. All were enjoying the upcoming fest. Clair was no longer in peace. He could not shift his mind from those words.

He decided to have water from the container to calm himself for a calm sleep. Then he tried thinking of some old story for it possessed the power to make him feel sleepy. The story that came to his mind was of a prince where the villain’s role was played by a ghost not an ordinary one but the one with super natural powers. The moment he visualized the ghost, a cold chill ran down his spine as his brain could visualize the scary devil that haunted him in yesterday’s nightmare. These ghostly idea was the consequence of reading the book “Haunted Room of a house” during his journey. It was a colorful book with powerful illustrations. Imagining all this, he had a tough time. Being an optimist, he managed to create an idea to combat his fear. He lit a candle and turned to browser to play a mantra so that he could feel better. No sooner did he click than an advertisement of a horror movie popped up. Out of fear, his phone dropped from his hands and landed straight into the container of water which he forgot to cover. Now he could do nothing other than to weep for the past.

He started wondering why he was unable to sleep. Soon his inner voice reasoned that he had had two mugs of coffee during the evening with me and considered it to have filled his belly. This disorder in sleep was there to prove his consideration wrong. He got up and ate snacks, he had been carrying all his way. He ate until his stomach was full, he was satisfied and energized after this tummy happy supper.

A great thought struck him which indicated him to pen down another article. So he looked at his to-do list that contained topics for articles. This month’s topic was goosebumps raising one! It read “The things that scare humans the most”.

He made his mind to stop it and do a thing which could bring warmth to his heart, comfort him as he wasn’t prepared for any further heart throbbing experience. He honestly counted leafing over his photo albums as his hobby. They consisted of photographs clicked by him. So he chose to go through his college’s album with all his friends which was a storehouse of golden memories. While going through, his eyes stuck on one image that dropped his jaw. The photograph was of his friend and his golden retriever. Its most scary part was the pet’s eyes glowing as bright as sun in the dim background. He was terrified.

Clair once again went to bed with a strong desire to sleep no matter what! He took a comfy posture and felt something prickly gently touched his feet gently. Oops! It was the pin which fell from the pin case that he dropped earlier. He led out a controlled shriek. He had good intentions of not disturbing others’ sleep but still he had to see whether the wound was shedding blood. He turned on the torch. Happily, neither did it hurt much nor was it bleeding.

The moment he made a straight angle with his body, he remembered that doors and windows were still open. So he had to get up to shut everything. Just after having a two-minute short nap, his nose sensed something burning and his eyes could notice something lighting up. He thought for a while but had to get up once again to figure out what happened. Uh ho! His hard work was nothing other than ash. He left the burning candle unblown which was kept near to his article on the corner table.

Disappointed, he was back with an aim to sleep for a while but before that, he wished to see what time it was. Alas! It was 5.59 A.M., time to get going. How he would do that because the night that passed was sleepless for him.

“Creeeeeeeeeeak! Ha ha ha ha haaaa… It’s a day of witches, ghosts, zombies and spirits”. Another scary sound filled the atmosphere. Well, it made his face as pale as a slice of Parmesan cheese. Today being Halloween, it was my alarm; this time coming into play to increase the creepiness of the day. Then I woke up after a peaceful slumber but his condition was exactly the opposite.

I was in a mood to have a good brekky but when I asked whether he would like to have another coffee. He was immobilized with fear. I didn’t hear any of his trial to skip the breakfast. When he disobeyed me, he was surrounded by trouble but when I do the same, I believe its fine. We went on the terrace, enjoyed our delicious Choco cornflakes with coffee. Meanwhile, I had a stomach ache. I rolled over the floor laughing while lending him an ear to him which was the reason I could write all this to you. Happy night… Have good dreams, dear.

With loads of love,

Violet
