THIS WAY

It is time to prepare breakfast for her children Kilit and Roy. Neneng wakes them up to get ready for school while cooking. She makes sure to have delicious and nutritious meals to be growing healthy and strong. Breakfast meal is composed of an egg grain cereal with powdered whole milk. She avoids liquid milk hearing that it causes mucus build-up that may cause cold or urinary tract infections. Green vegetables are cooked and mix with chopped bacon to make them tasty like spinach and okra. It is best for children to get used to these kind of foods. It is better to start early while they are young to follow the good path of nutrition. After all the stomach needs to learn what food does it take to make a healthy body. After breakfast Kilit and Roy waits the shuttle bus to bring them to school. Neneng checks if everything is ready from their luch boxes and schoolbags. She gave them a goodbye kiss when she sees the shuttle bus is approaching. She leads them outside and waited for the shuttle bus to be driven away. She goes inside to prepare herself for work. She is a cashier at a big department store in their bustling city. Something snaps her mind about her husband who didn't come home last night who went for a business trip to the next city which is a one hour drive. She wonders why her husband cannot come home after the meeting. Usually she asks him but his answer "Don't worry ,I'm with friends" She is not satisfied with his answer keeping her feelings to herself. She has just to say to herself, "men will not confess their mistakes to their wives like they want women to believe them to be saints. She takes a shower then gets ready to go to work. She locks the door then walk down to her car parked in their garage. The traffic is going slower beginning to reach the rush hour. It was red light, She remembers Jenjen her friend working at the Day Care Center, She took care of her children when they were young. She can bring them to her everytime she needs a babysitter. She is wondering why she didn't receive a call yet from Emerson trying to avoid unpleasant thoughts she put the radio on driving again when the green light goes on. She is just in time arriving at work putting her things in the locker before going to her work station. She checks her cash and coin drawer before she put them in each compartment. Her first customer is a lady who bought the perfume for her husband asking if she bought the right brand., Neneng said Hugo brand is good for men, it is what they ask from her. The lady was thankful. At lunch she called Jenjen and tells her to go shopping after work. Jenjen agreed. She picked her up after work and they went shopping. After shopping she tells Jenjen to bring her home instead of taking the transit bus. Both of them bought a take out food not to cook supper anymore when they arrive home. Kilit and Roy are home from school doing their homework. She asks them if Emerson called. "I'm wondering what happened to your dad. "I didn't hear from him too." They didn't answer her. She went to the kitchen to prepare their dinner. They enjoyed eating their food from the organic food store. The phone rang , picking up right away she heard Emerson is at the hospital due to a car accident. Neneng tells what happens to the children. She has to go to the hospital to look after Emerson. When things happens like this women panic and their anxiety starts. The receptionist directed her to the emergency ward following the color of the line. She looks up to see the number of the bed given to her. She entered opening the curtain door and there her husband has a bandaged leg still sleeping from the effect of the anesthesia injection. She feels nervous as if her thoughts has blown up. Things like the car work the kids everything is worrying her. Sitting beside her husband's bed she wants to know how long is his stay at the hospital. At the midnight's round of the doctor he told her that he may stay at the hospital for two weeks to observe if there is a ruptured ligament. The more Neneng gets nervous thinking if his car has a major damage then it has to be towed to the car repair shop. What she didn't know there was a woman riding with him during the accident. She learned this when his co-worker came to visit. He didn't disclosed her name that made Neneng suspicious. "Were they arguing for Emerson to lose control of the car? " Her mind is turning around and around until her thoughts came into a halt. She remembers to pray. In praying. any trouble any worry will be replace what we ask from God. It calms and clear the mind and the body comes back to its normal function. Neneng asks God to heal the injury of Emerson that the car will be fix not to have a heavy damage. Neneng is more sensible trying to understand putting her mind about the things she is going to do to normalize the situation. First thing to do is to ask Jenjen to take care of the kids while she will look after Emerson at the hospital. She will instruct the shuttle bus driver to bring the kids to the Day Care Center. To give an advance payment to Jenjen for her services including food allowances for Kilit and Roy. The shuttle bus takes a right turn at the intersection to go to Jenjen. Their home is at the left of the intersection that's the way Neneng drives her car this way or that way when she goes to Jenjen or she is going home. This has change their day to day activity. Emerson is recovering fast from his leg injury. He uses his crutches to go to the washroom while hospital attendants helps him change his hospital robes and underwear. He is given a two months leave at work to obtain his complete recovery. Emerson's family didn't have second thoughts to help Neneng and their grandchildren. They hired a nanny/housekeeper to look after them and the children is picked up by their grandparent's driver to bring to school and to bring them home. Neneng is silent about the change of treatment she is recieving from her in-laws. She is wondering why they are doing this?" "Is it only for their son and his children, not including her," Neneng is bothered. She goes to the hospital right away after work and Kilit and Roy on the weekend, This time Emerson thinks what is going on with his life. He realizes the fragility of life if it is not taken cared of. He didn't mind about his family when he goes to a business trip whether it is far or near. He thinks supporting them well physically is enough. What would have happened to him if they are not around? To be alone like this is physically consuming if there is no connection to others. He comes to understand the value of his wife and children and his parents that comprises a whole family. A saying goes "A family that prays together stays together." They do that when they are together in the hospital. Little did Emerson know his parents are looking for a bigger place for his family to live. Not far from where they live but on he same neighborhood which is a bigger house. Neneng and the children didn;t know too. Since Emerson's parents owns the company where he works his parents decided to move them to a bigger house. It is easy to purchase giving instructions to their household helpers to prepare the place for Emerson being in the hospital for more than a month. At the day of his discharge Neneng and their children are all there to fetch him. His father is there too. He is at the front seat telling the driver about the direction where they are going. He tells the driver to take left at the intersection leading to the new house. Neneng, Emerson and their children are surprised why they pass their house but the van entered a gate and household helpers meet them. Emerson's family have mixed feelings of excitement and joy. His father explains giving this house to them as a gift. Upon entering inside his aunt is there to thank Emerson that he tried to manuever the car to save her. It was his side to be hit and injured his leg. They have a big and sumptous dinner.GP
