A redheaded man approached me at my suitor ball. His navy suit sparkled in the bright light of the ornate golden chandeliers. Over the top decor surrounded me. My black silk ballgown weighed painfully on my sore hips. My long violet hair hung in curls around my pale delicate face. He bowed with an angry look into my violet eyes. A cruel smile darkened his face, making me feel uncomfortable.
"You should marry me,or we go to war with your country." He threatened with a sicking grin. "We would want that would we." His dark eyes glistened excitedly as he ran his hand through his dirty blonde hair. A lump formed in my throat when my father approached his side. His red velvet suit shimmered as he ran his hand through his gray slicked back hair. The large ring on his ring finger taunted his mouth as a fake grin lit up his face. A bad feeling infected my veins when they shook each others hands.
"Meet your suitor, Prince Stewart!" He stated jollily as he walked away. Nausea hit me like a wave crashes onto the beach at the very thought of that.
"I don't feel well. I am going to retire for the evening." I uttered softly, running to my chambers. Honestly, it was the truth. Unfortunately, my period has been late for three months. An idiot is a word that I would never use to describe myself. A small hard bump was where a flat stomach once was. Either way, I needed to find Sammy from the marketplace. My servant took off all of the layers of this dumb dress. Sighing, she tossed me a fresh maid uniform.
"Get out while you can." She urged with warmth. Her petite frame shook with sadness as tears fell from her ice blue eyes. The white lace emphasized her dark blue hair.
"Come with me." I begged, hugging her tightly. "We can be friends, instead of you being my maid." She shook her head, and looked at me with sorrow filled eyes. Her delicate finger wiped away a few tears from my cheek.
"I must stay." She explained while putting the maid outfit on. "My mother is here." My heart broke as I understood.
The maid's outfit fit perfectly to my hourglass figure. The black wool felt better than the heavy silks of my usual gowns. My long purple was pulled into a severe bun. I am not going to be Princess Marie Swansey anymore. Being royal was annoying and a pain. Besides that, my heart will never accept Prince Stewart as my husband. Dismally she pulled me through the servant tunnels until stars twinkled above me. Moonlight bathed the village ahead of me, painting it blue.
An hour passed when I finally reached Sammy's small white cottage. Smoke swirled out of the gray stone chimney as my fist pounded on the solid wood door. An annoyed Sammy opened the door with a frown. My heart nearly beat out of my ample chest while a blush reddened my face. His pale face softened at the sight of me. His emerald green eyes twinkled as a crooked grin brightened his face. His dark hair hung around the shoulder of his white dress shirt. Nervously he rubbed his hand on his brown trousers.
"Why are you here tonight?" He asked pulling me into his one room cottage. "I thought you had a ball tonight." My heart fluttered in my chest as his arms wrapped around me. A heavy pause hung in the air as he gasped.
"I am pre-" I started as his door crashed to the ground, throwing clouds of dirt around us. A familiar redhead ripped him away from me, throwing me to the ground. Sammy growled as Stewart tossed him a sword.
"Where is she?" He asked impatiently. "Who is this servant girl? I know you have Marie. I guess I will fight you for information." Chuckling to himself, he lunged at Sammy, nearly getting him. Sammy leaped behind and pressed his sword against his quivering throat.
"I am Prince Sam of Estia!" He yelled with a dark look on his face. "Your kingdom wiped out mine, leaving only me. I chose to disguise myself as a commoner because of your hand." My jaw dropped at the sudden news.
"They said no one survived that attack." I stammered with a stunned look. "You are a prince though!" Pure joy raced threw my body as my hat fell off revealing my true identity. Stewart's face twisted with fury as he punched Sammy in his nose. A red river of blood flowed from his nose as Stewart ran towards me. His sword glimmered in the moonlight as he raised it above his head.
"No one tells me no!" He shouted slamming the sword down at me. Blood spurted all over me as a silver blade slid through his stomach. Stewart's sword clanked down next to me, causing me to shudder. With a loud thud, Stewart crashed down, leaving his dead eyes looking at me.
Hot vomit flew up my throat as I got to my knees. A knot formed in my stomach when my father's black boots were tapping rapidly against the dirt.
"Are you really Regina, and Thomas' son?" He asked with a big smile. "Do you have the mark?" Sammy's face filled with confusion as he pulled up his sleeve to reveal a black star. My father's face lit up with joy.
"You are her original betrothed." My father stated while pulling me up. "I approve." Sammy ran over to me and spun me around. His lips pressed passionately against mine. Time stopped as he pulled away.
"What were you going to tell me?" Sammy inquired with glittering eyes. Clearing my throat, a soft smile lit up my face.
"I am pregnant!" I announced cheerfully moving his hand to my stomach. Happiness filled the room as my father cheered excitedly. The future was going to bright with us as rulers.
