I love mythology, learning about ancient cultures and the Gods is amazing. Norse mythology is my absolute favorite. I love learning about the ancient female warriors who guide the souls of the dead to Valhalla.
There is so much to the Valkyrie. They can be heroes. They can be against you. They can be beautiful or menacing. There is so many layers to the Valkyrie I love to uncover.
I have so many books I'm reading about Norse mythology. Some books I read twice. Most of them about the Valkyries. I love the idea of strong beautiful woman.
Today I'm taking a train ride to one of the country's biggest library. The library called Pages and Pathways houses the largest selection of books about Norse mythology.
I'm so excited to be going to Pages and Pathways. This is my first time going there and it's also my first time riding on a train by myself. It's also my first time leaving home.
Winter Brook is a fun snowy town to live in. The people are nice or at least some them are. I like to think the cold seeps into their heads to make them crazy.
I love the cold. I love the snow but sometimes I dream of feeling the nice warmth of the sun. Pages and Pathways is in the town of Summer Brook. A town known for its warm weather.
Besides the clothes on my back and the books in my bag, I'm taking a nice dress and a pair of shoes. I'm glad I bought these items.
I pass neighbors arguing about stupid things for no reason. It happens a lot here. I am at the train station. I buy my ticket and go to track nine. Wow, the train is bigger than I thought. I show my ticket to the worker. He allows me to enter. I find a seat by the window.
This is so exciting. It's time to leave. The train starts its engines and off we go. I see some late arrivals running to catch the train. I laugh at them trying to get on. No such luck. They should have came early.
The train is passing Winter Brook market. The market at this time of the year is packed. There are children and adults having snowball fights and families drinking hot coco.
The train is out of Winter Brook. The snowy landscape is beautiful. Who doesn't love the snow? Every Winter Brook resident does. I take out my book about the Valkyries and begin to read.
The train is moving fast. My eyes are getting heavy. I lean my head back and close my eyes. I drift off into a deep sleep. I hear nothing around me expect the engines of the train.
What's that noise? it doesn't sound like the train engines. I open my eyes. It's extremely bright in here. I rub my eyes and shake off some of the brightness. I can see more clearly now. Oh My God! Where am I?
I look around the train. There is no one here but me. Where did everybody go? I stand up, grab my bag and begin to walk to the front of the train. I open the door. Oh My! I hold onto the door.
The train is not on the tracks. The train is floating in the air. I don't know how that is possible. Trains don't float in the air.
There goes that noise again. I look out the window. Is that what I think it is? The fabled winged horse, Pegasus. It can't be.
I read stories about the Pegasus. I've seen pictures but never in my wildest dreams did I ever believe I would see an actual Pegasus.
Wow, the Pegasus is so beautiful. The pegasus flies away. There is another Pegasus. That's a Valkyrie riding the Pegasus. I can't believe I'm seeing a Valkyrie.
The train is going up through the clouds. I see many more Pegasus. Some with Valkyries on them. Some without Valkyries are riding along side the train.
This is so cool. Looking more closely at the path the train is taking has me believing that I know this path. I read it in many books about the Valkyries. The path is called Valkyria.
Valkyria is the path the Valkyries take to Valhalla when they are taking the fallen warriors to Valhalla.
These Valkyries are ready for battle. Their armor is beautiful especially their helmets which is shaped like the wings of the Pegasus.
One of the Valkyries is looking at me. I know who she is. She is one of the most famous Valkyries in Norse mythology. Her name is Brynhildr.
She points at me. In the blink of an eye, I'm sitting on the back of a Pegasus with Brynhildr.
I hold onto her as tightly as possible. I close my eyes. The Pegasus is flying really fast. I open one eye. I look down. Bad idea. I take a couple of deep breathes and open both eyes this time. This is so cool.
More Valkyries are riding up the path. There is Hildr, Sigrun, Eir, kara and Gondul. They are so beautiful. I see all of them in their battle armor. Where are they going?
Oh my! The Pegasus is going down now. I watch the Valkyries and there Pegasus going down as well. Brynhildr is leading the Valkyries to battle. I'm going with them.
I know for a fact the Valkyries don't participate in the battles of mortals. I read the Valkyries influence the fate of warriors and battles.
Some stories say the Valkyries have powers but they only use their power to influence battles.
I will only be watching the battle. That is good for me. I will not do good fighting people. As the Valkyries and myself go down to the battlefield another Pegasus comes up to us.
Brynhildr grabs my hand and guides me to the Pegasus. Oh my! I'm on my own Pegasus. She shows me how to guide the Pegasus. This is a bit difficult but I think I got the handle of riding a Pegasus.
I follow the Valkyries down to the battlefield on my very own Pegasus. Somehow I'm wearing the armor of the Valkyries. I have no words to explain what is happening to me.
I see the battlefield. I stop the Pegasus. The Valkyries are riding over the battlefield. The battle is extremely bloody. The Valkyries are not taking all of the fallen. They are choosing who to take.
The Valkyries only choose the most honorable warriors to take to Valhalla. I see one Valkyrie taking a warrior to Valhalla and then another and another.
Brynhildr and her Pegasus come up beside me and my Pegasus. She points down to the battlefield. She tells me to follow her. I do. We reach the battlefield. She points at the fallen warriors. I think she wants me to choose.
I look at the fallen warriors. How can I choose one? Then I see a fallen warrior who fell on top of another warrior. I point to him. Brynhildr nods. She signals me to come to her.
The body of the fallen warrior begins to rise. He lands on the back of my Pegasus. I follow Brynhildr to the path and onto Valhalla. I'm riding the path to Valhalla before I get there I wake-up.
I'm back on the train. The train is back on the tracks and the people are in their seats. What a dream I had. I'm almost to Summer Brook. I can't wait to get to Pages and Pathway.
As I'm looking out the window. I see the Brynhildr and the Pegasus riding alongside the train. Maybe it wasn't a dream after all.
