JFK - My Favorite President

Anyone easily offended would best avoid my work.

I can vividly recall Dominican Sister Catherine of Siena interrupting Friday class to herd us over to St. Thomas Church for impromptu prayer. Was school done for the week then? That I don't know, but it's hard to imagine anyone capable of focusing on lessons amid 11/22/1963 afternoon's tragedy. 

Delivering that Saturday's Chicago newspapers was my sad job, but my customers, most of whom I never met, were very generous that Christmas. On Sunday, I sat in our basement alone, while in custody at Dallas police headquarters garage, the self-proclaimed patsy, Lee Oswald, was shot on live TV. The 1960 presidential election was the 1st in which I took an interest, probably cuz Kennedy was a Catholic, but Nixon-Lodge materials seemed more memorable than Kennedy-Johnson. Election night TV coverage was exciting with gee-whiz computer tallying by RCA's 501 and perhaps 1st ever national election projections in full living black and white. Its original mission was, "To promote world peace and friendship through a Peace Corps, which shall make available to interested countries and areas men and women of the United States qualified for service abroad and willing to serve, under conditions of hardship if necessary, to help the peoples of such countries and areas in meeting their needs for trained manpower." When did JFK's Peace Corps become a CIA front, like journalists? It appears decidedly nixonian and bushy, but likely began with LBJ. With only 44 men as President, we've already had 2 Adamses, 2 Harrisons, 2 Roosevelts, 2 Johnsons, and 2 Bushes. If we get another Bush, Trump, or Clinton, I'm moving to the Southern Hemisphere.
