Tony always liked to say that he could tell which beach south of Arthurs Seat in the Mornington Peninsular he was on by the different senses, including what he could hear, smell and feel but not see as he considered that to be cheating.
One day he was challenged on national TV to test on two of them chosen blind by three celebrities.
The first was very easy with the give away scent of an ocean beach, together with the feel of people enjoying themselves, which felt like surfing. “Rye Ocean Beach.” He said which was immediately confirmed. About 15 minutes later they had reached the second test where he could smell fish and chips and could feel the excitement of the children. Dromana Beach he said and yet again he was right.
When it came to last one, he felt a bit unnerved as there was nothing very notable so he said
“Blairgowrie beach” as being the least interesting beach he could he think of and yet again he was right
“We thought that the last one would get you said the main host.
“It would have done” said Tony and then explained how he had got there.
