The New Year's Eve Ball

       Heels,make up, and a beautiful dress I am getting ready for the dance tonight. Tonight  is the New Year's Eve Ball at The Grand Villa hotel and suites in the ballroom. I guess I should introduce myself Hi my name is Blair Rose Gregory and I am 25 years old. My best friend Sophie Jones and I  have been friends since grade nine of high school. She said that going to a Ball was on her bucket list. So we both decided to go to a Ball for the first time. She also said that there are new guys who we should meet at the Ball. I just want to have an exciting ending to the year not a new boyfriend. Planning an outfit for a Ball can be difficult though. Let's decide which to go with glitter or sparkle. I think I am going to sparkle and shine into the new year. There's a knock at the door it must be Sophie.I open the door and it is Sam.  Why is he here? Hi Sam do you need anything? Yes I was told to pick you up for the Ball answered Sam. He was a guy that works at a coffee shop that I go to often. Why did Sophie set me up on a blind date for the Ball and even get him to pick me up? I need to have a good talk her soon as I see her at the Ball. I love her but that was not okay. Please ask someone before you set them up on a date! I want to go to the Ball so I better let him take me to the hotel. Sam is a great guy and we have talked a few times before. The chats were not just  my order of what I wanted to drink at the coffee shop. Probably Sophie saw us have a good conversation and thought it could lead to something more. She should have ask me first before surprising me. I got into the Honda Civic Sam's car and we headed to the Ball. He was dressed in a black suit with a metallic tie and checkered Vans shoes. Does everyone think to dress in metallics when going to a New Year's Eve Ball? I hope not I want to stand out and not blend in with the crowd. Sam drives so slow I want to get there soon to give Sophie a good talking to. I guess I should enjoy the ride and he has good taste in music who knew? I wonder how much  Sam knows about me other than my coffee order. Sam what is my favorite colour? It is purple it is not Sam replied quickly. It is how did you know that? I must of overheard you and Sophie talking at the coffee shop one day. That is vague and a bit creepy I should ask another question I thought. What is my favorite movie?

Movie um I don't know um maybe … Star Wars concluded Sam hopefully. Not even close but good try I do like those movies. My favorite movie is Disney's The Lion King. That's a classic one good choice said Sam encouragingly. We are here The Grand Villa the dance awaits. There were people at the bar, people on the dance floor, and people crowding together. Why are dances like this anyway I here because of Sophie.  I probably should enjoy the night while I'm young. I also should find Sophie soon too. How do I find her in this jam packed room? I know Sam is tall he may be able to see her. Sam can you see if you can see Sophie? She said she would be wearing a red satin dress? Okay it will be hard to find her maybe we should dance to get a better all around view recorded Sam. That is a good idea I answered back. It was a good plan yet I didn't want to dance so soon with him. We knew each other as friends but now to dance with each other was a new experience. We danced and kept spinning around so I could find Sophie. I saw a lot of other women with red dresses but no sophie to be found. After an hour of dancing Sam finally told me that Sophie gave him her ticket into the Ball. I could have punched him yet I was having a wonderful time so I  didn't. I told him Sophie would have to explain things later but we should continue at the Ball. He agreed and we decided to sit and talk for awhile. We were going back and forth in communication so much so that I almost didn't notice my ex-boyfriend Nick. He was at the bar trying to pick up another woman in sparkling dress and when that didn't work he came over to me. I saw him coming so I suddenly grabbed Sam's tie and kissed him. I was shocked that I did that and then more shocked when I didn't want to stop kissing him. Sam got up and asked what was that about? My ex just showed up and I didn't want him to see me I whispered back. I continued to whisper My ex always cheated on me and was flirting with other women.He was coming over to hit on me too because he didn't realize it was me. I see Oh so that wasn't planned or intentional kiss then?  asked Sam in a whisper. No but I would not mine if it became intentional I said. He suddenly come up to my chair and bent down to kiss me. Then I heard a great shout begin to rise from the crowd at the Ball. Everyone around us was getting ready for the big countdown. They were shouting ten, nine,eight and we stopped kissing then.We decided to join in the countdown five, four,three, two, one. Then we both said to each other Happy New Year !
