An old prophecy circulated around the kingdom of azalea, a kingdom that resided inside a mirror world. It foretold that one day a girl with eyes colored like the sun would appear an overthrown the wrathful king. A man whose names was feared through the kingdom. A man whom even the strongest nobles fear as he was a powerful man who was believed to have given his soul to the devil to have the power he had. This girl rumored in the prophecy would slay the cruel king and reign over the Azalean kingdom finally bringing peace to the Azalean people. The king knew about this prophecy and was determined to slay every sun eyed girl in the entire kingdom in order to retain his reign and power over the kingdom. Decades past and the king never aged nor parished and was determined to find them until he did. But what would happen if he found two girls with the same sun eyed color? He was determined to slay one and marry the other. Eleana and Lucille were born during an icy snowstorm in the middle of February in a small rural town in Maine. Born only minutes from each other they were born beautifully with sun-colored eyes. Fraternal twins they were each had their personality.
Eleana would grow up wild like her mother, intelligent and impulsive yet cunning, filled with life and promise that any teenage girl would have.
Lucille would grow up gracefully. Such as a quiet girl she was but kind and selfless like the father she had lost during the war.
Both girls each with their different personalities and appearances had one thing in common, their eyes which reflected the color of the sun such as said in the Azalean prophecy. Of course only one could rule and as the king foretold he would marry one and slay the other. But their fates remained unknown until they entered the world in which the Azalean kingdom resided on. Beyond the mirror.
Eleana and Lucille stood before two graves. One covered in an American flag and the other covered in yellow roses. They looked at each other and held hands. It would just be the two from now on, as their parents were no longer there to care for them and both had to travel across the united states, where their grandmother lived alone near the edge of the woods in the small town of Ozette, Washington.
''You know it's not all that bad..''Lucille said glancing at her sister who sat in the passenger seat looking up the road of nothing but trees and asphalt. Her eyes looked tired and her cheeks were flushed red from all the crying she had done the previous night.
''Living with an old woman we don't even know?'' Eleana said her voice low and hoarse as if she hadn't spoken for a long time and finally spoke.
''Come on Lena lighten up.. think of it as an adventure!! we are going to meet our grandmother for the first time in about 17 years..''
''If that old woman wanted to meet us she could have just visited us... she didn't even show up to dad's funeral and that was her son'' Lena exclaimed. Lucille sighed at her sister's stubbornness she reached out quickly with one hand on the wheel and ruffled her hair
''Hey!!'' Lena shouted pushing her sister hand away and patting her hair down, Lucille chuckled pulling her hand away and grabbing the wheel back again
''Just relax we will arriving very soon..'' she said, Lena, sighted
''Thank god am tired of sitting in this goddamn car for so long..'', Lucille nodded in response as she was the one that was driving. Hours later both girls began to see a clearing in the densely forested area. They saw a small white and blue 2 story house appear slowly within the trees. ''That's the house..??''Lena said leaning forwards. Lucille nodded ''Yup'' as she began to pull over in the dirt driveway and parking the car. Lena stared at the 2-story house shaking her head. ''Am not about to go in there ..'' she said looking at her sister
'' Oh yes we are come on ..'' Lucille said unbuckling her seat belt and opening the door
"Lucy!!'' she shouted as her sister shut the door and gave her a disapproving look at her rude behavior
''Come on ..'' she said waving her hand at her motioning her to accompany her but Lena refused and carefully opened the door observing her sister from afar.
The door suddenly opened revealing an elderly woman with salt and pepper hair and dull brown eyes she smiled at Lucille the instant she saw her. ''Grandmother.,'' Lucille said as she approached the old lady who smiled at her. ''Lucille,'' she said as she opened her arms to embrace Lucille in a tight embrace
''I am terribly sorry for not arriving to your father or mother's funeral ..'' she said as she pulled away from Lucille ''We understand grandmother.. you live very far so it's understandable ..''. The old woman smiled tenderly at her grandmother and look ahead to see Eleana peeking her head out from the car ''That must be Eleana ''She said, Lucille nodded and laughed nervously
''Am sorry about my sister rudeness grandmother she's just shy...''. Lucille said as she Quickly rushed towards the car pulling her sister's arm ''OWW hey let go !!!'' Eleana exclaimed at her sister
''She's our grandmother Eleana !! Dads mom so behave . !!'' Lucille whispered harshly at her sister. Elena's eyes widened at her sister's tone and jerked her hand away from her grip to gather her composure. Cautiously Eleana walked towards her grandmother who smiled at her and opened her arms to embrace her
''Eleana ..''She said as she tightly embraced her and pulled away touching both girls shoulders
''I finally have the both of you ..'' She said as she embraced both in one large hug'' My girls how much you two have through..''.
Both girls looked at each other and Lucille nodded at Elena who simply rolled her eyes. The first day at their grandmother's was like any day a child would spend with their grandmothers. She cooked more food than the girls could eat and indulged them with sweets and pastries. As the day came to an end the old woman retired to her sleep leaving the girls with the entire house and the choice to choose their rooms to sleep.

Eleana tossed and turned in her bed constantly until she finally laid on her back staring at the wooden ceiling and hearing the constant ticking of the old grandfather clock, She sighed closing her only to hear the door suddenly open. She jerked up startled staring at a black figure close the door
''It's me Lena..'' She hears Lucille's voice whisper as the figure of her bright red pajama bottoms became apparent from the moon's light and shined through the window
''Dammit Lucy !!'' Lena whispered as she sat up seeing her sister slowly crawl to her bed under the sheets
''I couldn't sleep ''Lucille said as she got herself comfortable under the sheets
''Tell me about it ..'' Lena said laying down facing her sister who closed her eyes and sighted trying to drift off to sleep. Lena looked at her sister quickly realizing how much she looked like their mother and in a way always saw her a second mom. Slowly she reached out to grab her sister's hand from under the pillow squeezing it.
''I miss Mom and Dad... lucy '' She said, breaking the nights' silence. Lucille opened her eyes looking at her sister and nodded at her ''Me too..''
Weeks passed and both girls began to grow a fondness towards their grandmother who did nothing but spoil her them to make up for all the years she didn't spend time with them. But soon they began to realize that every night strange noises came from the attic waking them up in the middle of the night. A one day in response to that decided to investigate the source from which the strange noises originated from. Little did they know that once they entered the attic and found the source of the strange noises would their whole relationship as loving sister crumble down and turn into a fight of rivalry and survival.
Eleana Carefully walked up the stairs followed by her cautious sister
''Lena lets not do this... it's probably rats!!'' Lucille said urging her sister in hope to stop her curiosity towards the strange noises coming from the attic.
''Am tired of hearing freaky noises coming from this place I gotta see what it is!!''She whispered as she held the phone flashlight to the entrance of the attic. She turned to look at her sister Lucille who shook her head, Eleana scoffed rolling her eyes and looking back at the door and grabbing a hold of the doorknob ''Lena no ..'' Lucille whispered. Quickly and Swiftly Eleana opened the door. There was nothing inside the attic but a circular window, some covered furniture, and an odd-looking body length vintage mirror.
''There nothing ..'' Eleana said as she went inside the brightly moonlit room, Lucielle following behind her looking around
''There nothing ..'' Lucielle said
''That's what I said ..'' Eleana said looking back at her sister and around the room her eyes landing on the vintage body length mirror, she stared at it realizing something odd from it.
''Lucy ...Look..''Eleana said as she drew herself closer to the mirror. Lucille's eyes widened ''That's impossible...''She said as they both stood before the mirror bewildered.
The mirror was fogged up and extremely cold to the touch as if there something cold on the other side of the mirror
''There's no way it could be fogged up ...It's not even hot or cold in here..''Lucille said as Eleana just stared at it. ''Lena ...''Lucille said touching her sister's shoulder
''Remember the stories mom use to tell us .... stories she said dad told her when she met her ...''
''Lena..''Lucille said her tone changing from scared to serious
''The mirror world ...''Eleana said as she pressed her hand against the mirror
''Lena don't be-'' Lucille started as all of a sudden Eleanas hand began to go through the mirror, like a hand going through water. Without thinking Lucille grabbed her sisters hand yanking it out of the mirror
''What the hell!!''Eleana shouted at her sister, Lucille stood there looking back at the mirror and her .'' let's go ...''She said grabbing her sister's hand and pulling her towards the entrance of the attic.
''Lucille stop!!'' Eleana shouted yanking her hand away from her sister's grip, Lucille looked at her sister who was infatuated with the mirror.
''That mirror...it's not normal Eleana and if you ever come close to it ..I'll tell grandmother to throw it out..''
''Did you see what just happened ?? my hand went through..'' Eleana said with astonishment in her voice Lucille shook her in disbelief
''I saw it !!''Lucille cried at her, fear written all over face ''Their something wrong with that mirror and I don't like it..and neither should you..’’, Eleana shook her head
‘’I got to go back ..’’ she said before turning around and sprinting towards the entrance of the attic
‘’Eleana !!!’’Lucille shouted rushing after her, only to get the door slammed her face and hearing it lock.
‘’Eleana stop!! Don't do it !! Eleana !!’’Lucille shouted pounding on the locked door. Eleana ignored her sister's screams and pleads for her to come back but she felt nothing but a pull towards the mirror.
As if the mirror itself was calling for out to her.
Slowly she pushed her hand through the mirror until her whole body went through it disappearing and leaving no trace of her existence and leaving her twin fraternal sister completely and utterly alone in the other side of the mirror.
