Leap of Faith

Written in response to: "Start or end your story with someone looking out a car or train window."

Adventure Fiction Inspirational

Do you ever experience that feeling of just knowing what the next right choice is for you? That inner knowing, intuition you know will not fail you and cannot be wrong? Well, that is exactly and solely what I relied upon while finally taking a leap of faith into the life I deeply want and while it was not an easy choice to make, I was truly ready for it, after years and years of living completely the opposite of what I wanted from life - being in an unfulfilling relationship, working jobs that are way below my capacity and just settling for less, all up to one point - the breaking point. So I decided to trust my intuition because it was either that or just continuing to be stuck or even worse, getting sick from the life I didn't enjoy. Even though fear was still present, even though everything was uncertain, there was no other choice left… It was a magnificent state to observe: how you could experience fear and happiness at the same time - fear from the unknown and happiness because you've finally gathered your courage and decided to start anew.

I had to leave my hometown in the south of the Balkan peninsula, it became far too constricting, small-minded, limited… and just go. So I reached out to my dear friend in Geneva, without having any plan, and asked if I could stay with her for a while, just for a little while until I detox my Soul from my previous life. Of course, she agreed.

As I was looking through the train window, I was contemplating my entire life up to this point - how many times I fell into the same trap, how many times I stumbled, how scared I was to lose my previous identity as if I would be annihilated. Was it really that scary? You cannot be annihilated, only the identity that you took on that wasn't even yours to begin with. I started to question everything as I observed the clouds gliding through the sky like ships through the ocean… The fine line between reality and dream started to slowly fade and hours passed by while I was contemplating, but it only felt like a few minutes to me. Until a voice came from the outside:

"Is this seat free?"

"Yes, of course.", I replied and smiled at the stranger who just came aboard the train.

It was a friendly stranger, a man of about 30 years of age, but there was something special about him - his deep blue eyes were reaching directly to my Soul. I smiled and continued to look out the window, suddenly present in this here and now.

His presence comforted me deeply on a subtle level, even though I could not understand why, it just seemed like I met him before.

"Where are you travelling to?", I asked politely.

"To Geneva, but my destination is actually Mont Blanc.", he smiled.

"What a coincidence, I'm travelling to Geneva too… I'll be staying at a friend's house."

"Danesh, nice to meet you."

"My name is Aurora, nice to meet you too."

The train had multiple stops all across Austria, and Switzerland and going further north to Paris, France, and we were heading to the exact same place?

We continued to have a nice conversation all the way to Geneva like we couldn't run out of things to talk about. He felt like home, more so than my "real" home. So we agreed to meet again tomorrow and go on a picnic together in the mountains. Little did I know at the time that what I thought would just be a romantic date, turned into the most important day in my life.

I felt so safe with him, so safe that I would follow him to the end of the world, without knowing why, I just trusted my gut feeling, luckily so! So we met the next morning, rented a car and started our road trip to the foot of Mont Blanc - the White Mountain. Somehow we started talking about Magic.

I was always in love with Magic, since I was a little child, my favourite movies were the ones that had any kind of magical elements, because reality seemed always boring to me without magic, like something was missing… and it was!

We arrived at the foot of Mont Blanc so fast, like there was no time span between here and there, our conversations were the most fun I've had in a while, it was like we knew each other forever. We left the car and started walking up the hiking trail… It was a beautiful day in April, the numerous diverse flowers already bloomed and their fragrance was spreading in all directions. The sky with its azure colour gave the landscape even more life and looking up at the magnificence of the mountain I felt like this was the true meaning of peace.

"I'm so happy to be here with you.", I said.

"I'm so happy I found you again.", he smiled ear to ear.

"Again?"

He nodded his head mysteriously.

"Let me be completely honest with you: I remember you from my previous life…"

"You do?"

"Yes, and I am so glad we met again. It's time I showed you something - come with me."

"Sure."

I was wondering what he wanted to show me, but as he mentioned our previous life, I suddenly started to remember as well…That's why I felt so sure and safe and why I had no fear of following him. We walked for a while until we came to the edge of a cliff.

There was about 50 meters to the other side and the abyss was going down for hundreds of meters, no one would survive this jump, or would he?

"Take my hand and just trust me."

"Alright.", I said not knowing what would happen next, "We're not jumping, are we?"

"Yes."

As we were starting to fall, all fear that came up started to dissolve, instead, I felt bliss. He was holding my hand and smiling the whole time, his energy so strong, it could break the Universe. And all of a sudden midway to the bottom we stopped - floating, completely free from gravity.

"Are you a wizard?", I asked shily.

"Yes, and so are you!"

We slowly started to float up and landed safely on the other side.

"What do you mean - me too? I don't have any powers.", I was a little confused.

"Concentrate on your heart and see what it tells you."

We sat down and I became completely silent. Maybe that was the reason I was so in love with the idea of magic, not because it was a fantasy, but because a part of me already knew that this was a reality, I had just forgotten a part of myself.

From that moment on I started to study with him as my guide and slowly started to remember that I was not a victim of external reality who had to figure everything out with her logical mind, but that trust and surrender will take you a lot further than you could possibly imagine…

And so it becomes a beautiful dance between Consciousness and matter, Soul and world… the infinite cosmic dance.

Nice story, Sofija (I think we like to write about the same things). Good descriptive language. I would suggest paring down the beginning & giving the end more juice; as the reader, I think “more” needs to happen between the soul mate revelation and jumping off a cliff (interesting way to find out one is a wizard!).
