Horror Thriller

It is perfect. My favourite day in the world finally arrived. I hold up the piece of fabric and smiled. After finishing up my look, I walk out into the street trying to blend in with every other person around.

As usual, I walk into an alley I picked and waited. Not too long after that, a kid passes by.

"Hey, there." The kid stopped and glanced at me. He was dressed as Batman.

"You want some candy?" I took out one of the candy in my pocket and offered it to him. His face lights up and he took it.

"Thank you, mister. Happy Halloween." He unwrapped the candy and ate it immediately.

"What's your name, little boy?"

"Jason." He paused and looked at my face. "Can I have another candy?" I smiled and handed him another candy.

"Come on. I have a bowl full of candy just around here." My hand guided his back deeper into the dark alley. The kid, Jason, excited at the thought of more candy, blindly followed me.

We reached the end of the alley and I asked him to sit in the chair I prepared. He looked around and saw a table with a silver bowl which I also glanced at.

"Is that the candy? Can I have it?" I nodded and smiled.

"Close your eyes and hold out your bag. I'll put the candy in it." He nodded in excitement. I smiled and took out a butcher knife from the bowl. My eyes glint with amusement. I don't know why this kid trusts a stranger in an alley but that's not my problem.

Without wasting any second, I made my first swing right across his face making his head tilt. He yelped in pain and looked back at me. My next swing came faster and harder. This time I don't pause between swings and kept swinging even after his screams died out.

I can feel his blood splatter on my face and clothes but I still didn't stop. I only stop after my breathing became labored and my sweat begin to mix with the blood. I looked at the masterpiece in front of me and smiled.

The kid's face is now a mush of flesh and blood. His eyeballs are on the ground near the chair. The pretty sight made me happy. I stayed for a few more seconds to make sure I remember the view before leaving.

My next target wasn't that hard to find. The girl dressed as Wonder Woman willingly walked into my other alley. Apparently she wanted to take a shortcut to her house. Bad idea.

It was just my luck that she struggles. Oh, how I love kids that struggle. She tried to run, but I managed to catch her just before she got out of the alley.

Using the same butcher knife, I cut off her arms and legs one by one. Her screams didn't bother me since there is a haunted house right beside the alley. People will think it's them.

Right after I was done with her limbs, I took time carving a wide smile on her face before chopping her head off. Her screams have stopped but I still can hear the screams from the haunted house. I smiled almost as wide as the one I carved on her.

My head tilted to the left when I saw something that piqued my interest. There were shards of bone scattered around her and one of the piece looked pretty. I picked it up and stored it in my pocket as a souvenir.

Once again, I walked around finding a dark enough alley for my victims. The next one was an accidental finding. It was a man dressed as a vampire. He was smoking in the alley.

"Hey, there. Can I have one?" He raised his brows but still gave me a cigarette. He gave me a side eye and smiled when I noticed him.

"Nice costume. It looks really realistic." I thanked him and smiled. After a moment of silence, he threw away his cigarette and started walking towards the exit. I quickly sliced his head from behind making him stumble.

"What the-" I didn't let him finish the sentence and continued cutting him up with the knife. He tried to fight me off but the open wound on his head made his attacks weaker than he expected.

Frustrated with his flailing limbs, I hit his head with the back of the knife. His body fell onto the ground making it easier. I like kids struggling. Not adults.

After striking him in the chest a couple times, I hit him for the last time on the head. My eyes glanced at the sky and smiled. This year I managed to get three people. Last year I only got one person because he struggled too much.

I sighed in content and wiped my face with a cloth. This guy doesn't have anything of interest to me so there's no reason to take anything for souvenirs.

My feet led me outside into the sea of people full of costumes and kids trick or treating. Without even trying, I blended with the people and even went to a party for a drink. It is a delight that this town takes Halloween so seriously or I won't be able to get this much satisfaction in one night.

I went to another party and saw the most perfect eyes I have ever seen. She was standing at a corner just watching people dance from the sidelines. Just when I thought this moment can't be more perfect, she went to the direction of what I would assume the bathroom.

I used my foot to block the door from closing and entered the bathroom without permission.

"Uh, what are you doing here?" Her voice quivered seeing my appearance. I could practically hear the gears in her mind trying to figure out if I was a serial killer or really dedicated to my costume. Lucky for me, it is the former.

"You have really pretty eyes, you know. Just look at those baby blue." She looked at me with fear and tried to find another way out since I was already blocking the door. Her eyes frantically moved around the room making me fall in love with them even more.

I walked up to her and grabbed her cheeks. I could see her fear intensified as I grazed my knife right under eye.

"Mind if I take one out?" Her eyes widened and her head shook in fear.

"Please. Don't." I smiled hearing her frightened voice but it faltered after seeing the time on her wristwatch.

"I'm sorry. But this has to end sometime." I quickly sliced her throat open with multiple slashes. Right when I know she won't be able to scream, I used the tip of the knife to dig out her eyeball.

I stared at the eyeball in my hand. A smile formed on my lips and I wasted no time to climb out the window. Feeling glad that there was no one near the window, I made my way to my house a couple towns over.

Carefully, I put everything in a small box and stored it safely. A proud smile appeared on my lips and I tucked myself in bed knowing that everything will be on the news first thing tomorrow.

Even though I just had four people today, my mind already went to what I will wear on next year's Halloween. Either a bloody zombie or a bloody police officer. It was a great choice to be a butcher.
