Kids

There used to be this kid, he might have been a brent, petty kid, but was well known for spiffing deeds across the neighborhood.

Scarcely anyone would have guessed he would have discovered an uncanny species of secrecy.

It would be concealed for a few months, gradually getting known over to this present day, he would be a well-known, hefty kid.

He would be described as the high-almighty, most powerful kid of all.

It all started a few days before his birthday….

“Alright time’s up, papers in the air peeps, not a word, or you will be outta here.”

Few kids snickered, not as loud as the teacher being hindered by it.

Rok was sure he had aced the test, simple as that.

As the teacher of the classroom swiftly, and nimbly moved by each student’s desk, he eyed them like a rando.

Rok thought this was peculiar.

Soon after all was collected, the class was dismissed.

Children cheered, whooped, quintessentially like birds.

Rok ran astutely home, he didn’t stop anywhere.

He had important business to attend to…

As he neared home, he wondered…

Uncanny things had been occurring these past few days.

His brain system hadn’t been functioning properly.

He had a feeling he was connected to some strange thing.

He almost made it to his home when he heard a strangled whisper…

“Oy, kid… help me won't cha”

Rok turned slowly to his backside.

Fear gripped his body, sweat trickled down his back, making his shirt stick to his back.

“Who- who goes there”

“I’ve got a gun, you better back off”

He backed away slowly.

“Look kid, quit the corny scares ok? It ain’t gonna work, i’m no blert. If not, it’s the other way, you would be scared of me”

“Who- who are you?”

“*sigh*, look kid, let’s make a deal, you help me out and I give you some smack”

“Wha- what’s smack?”

The creature sighed again.

“It means explanations”

“O-ok, b-but w-w-where are you?”

I’m part of the tree, hang on let me transform back.

There was a loud breaking, kinda noise, as a hefty creature unraveled out of the depths of the tree.

“AAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH”

Rok screamed.

“Look kid, i can’t help it if I'm ugly.”

“Besides, it’s time for supper anyway”

“MAZAR! I will eat you up in one gulp”

The kid started hurrying down the road

In one stride the creature was next to him. Look kid, i was just joking, are you a coward or somethin’?

Rok panted hard.

“Sorry, but who are you?”

A bit of his fear evaporated, there was still a lot left over.

“I am a Tingzer, one of the lost ones. There are only 10 of us left, and human civilizations bring us to this place… there’s a spiffing land outside this world, where all of the most opulent creatures live for eternity. But when a human kill a dumb beast of this land, one of us get here, and get killed too, there are only a minute number of creatures left over, if this doesn’t stop, we’re gonna perish”

The Tingzer told all of this without stopping, Rok assumed it was just a power of this… uncanny creature.

By now, the afternoon gave place the evening, the sky was a gorgeous hue of pink, orange, and yellow.

The light sparkled on the houses, shimmering on the glass like diamonds.

All the information seemed to have turned Rok’s brain to mush.

The Tingzer broke the silence.

“Now that you get it, will you help me kid?”

Rok thought for a while.

Then he decided.

“Yes”

He was surprised the words escaped his mouth, but there was no stopping now.

For the second time that day, the Tingzer was smiling… this time - more warmly.

10 minutes had passed, as they started walking towards Rok’s neighborhood, they were chatting on the way.

“So what exactly are you?”

Rok asked, all his fear had melted away, now that he had seen what type of person this “Tingzer” was.

“I’m a type of hybrid between your creatures - a tiger, and a zebra.”

“And how do you get back to your land?”

For the first time a flash of melancholy appeared on his face.

“I ain’t know that yet, all i know is, i’m gonna get killed.”

“But I did hear, there was a way back, only one creature of my world made it back, but before anyone found out how, he passed away of old age.”

“He was the smartest Tingzer we had.”

“Oh”

Rok started wondering how to get him back.

They finally got to the front of his house.

“Ok, you will be hiding in my room, maybe you can camouflage yourself”

The Tingzer smiled mischievously.

You betcha.

And he disappeared.

Rok made his way in.

“Oh there you are Rok, your test papers are here, good news is you…. FAILED!”

His mom screamed.

What?

How?

I was sure I passed.

“Well guess what young man, you ain’t going out for two weeks.”

Rok didn’t argue, he just headed to his room, he knew better than to argue, she only used slang, when she was really mad.

So much for acing the test.

He slammed the door behind him.

“Where are you Tingzer?”

He whispered.

“I’m your worst nightmare”

A voice said, as a shadow loomed over him.

“AAARRRGGGHHH-”

“Oops”

“Seriously what’s your prob kid, can’t you take a little joke?”

“Let’s just get to work.”

Rok said, his heart still banging against his chest.

He was relieved no one heard him.

“So first of all, we need to find out how to get you back.”

“I'm your worst nightma-”

“Look kid, you wanna get back or no?”

“Ahh, so you’re copying me eh? Interesting, interesting.”

The Tingzer pounced on Rok’s bed.

“Let’s get some rest for today, we’ll take over tomorrow.”

Rok climbed upon his bed, and started to doze off.

“I’m your worst night-”

“Cut it out!”

Rok said, frustrated.

“Ok, ok, dang.”

It was 6:00 in the morning, the early sun dawned upon the shimmering glass, which shone like pearls on the sea.

A bit of the light trickled towards Rok’s face.

He squinted.

Rok decided it was enough sleep.

He got up, brushed his teeth, dressed and woke up Tingzer.

“Get up yeh porcupine.”

“*yawn*”

He got up.

For your stinkin’ information i’m no porcupine, i’m a tin-”

“Yeah, yeah, just get up.”

Rok said, in a languorous manner.

He was learning the Tingzer’s slang fast.

A call below was heard.

BREAKFAST!

“Coming”

Rok replied.

“Now look here Tingzer, you have to be invisible, while I feed you, or else-”

Rok warned.

“Ok, ok, this’ll be a piece-o-cake.”

They hurried downstairs, right in time.

Rok sat down.

“You look tired this morning.” his mom said.

“Nope” rok replied.

He had eggs for breakfast.

“So, do you like money, i know, it’s really cash right?, yup money, fresh money, the cashy, cash.”

He kept on blabbing to his parents.

As he raised his hand secretly feeding the Tingzer.

“Excuse me?”

His mother asked him.

“Cashy, you know, cashy.”

“Ok….”

His mother started getting angsted.

The Tingzer suddenly had an idea.

He crept up to Rok’s mother, and whispered.

“I’m your worst nightmare”

As he loomed on her.

“AAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGG!”

“Oh, no, i’ll just leave and come back later alright?”

He slowly crept out, with the Tingzer following him out.

“Why did you do that?”

Rok asked.

“My speciality”

The Tingzer said, still laughing at the incident.

“So where do we go?”

“To the dark mines.”

The Tingzer replied without hesitation.

Rok gulped.

“And why?”

“Cause it kinda seems like an uncanny place you know… the dark mines had a tale in our world, surprisingly, it exists even here, on your trashy- i mean nice looking world.”

Rok took no heed of the corny remark of the Tingzer’s

But said.

“Yeah, I gotta go, I have school to attend to...”

“It’s saturday you idiot.”

The Tingzer replied.

Rok sighed and continued on with the journey.

“You know the days of the week?”

Rok asked in mock surprise.

“Course I do.”

The Tingzer replied.

“That’s a surprise.”

Rok answered back.

“I know.”

The Tingzer remarked.

This corny conversation continued on until they paused at the entrance of the dark mines.

The sign read: Beware traveler, enter at your own risk.

The Tingzer read it and said.

“Hmm I think they did this on purpose.”

“Yeah”

Rok said.

They entered anyway.

The spiffing view of the outside disappeared as they entered the regions of the dark mines. The air turned to frigid musty smelling dirt, and old nasty clothes, the light grew narrower by the minute as you explored deeper into the depths.

“Are you sure this is a good idea?”

Rok asked.

“Sure, I see no trouble, this place is paradise.”

Rok didn’t know if he was joking or was real.

He assumed he was joking.

Eerie noises shook the dirt walls of the mine.

Rock crumbled, and occasionally dropped on top of them.

As they went deeper, they seemed to have found an archive.

But they weren’t sure, due to the fact of not having enough light.

“Man, I'm suffocating down here.”

Rok said.

“And can you turn on the light or something, with your witch powers.”

“The Tingzer flashed on his light”

“Where’s you get that?”

Rok asked.

“Nabbed it”

The Tingzer replied.

“Ah”.

Rok said.

They read the archive on top of a coroutine fancy scroll top.

It read:

ANOTHER CREATURE OF THE LAND OF TYROS HAS BEEN RAPTURED TO EARTH, THIS WILL KEEP HAPPENING IF HUMAN SOCIETY KEEPS MURDERING THE DUMB BEASTS OF EARTH, THIS WILL KILL THE ENCHANTED CREATURES OF TYROS. THIS IS BAD NEWS FOR EARTH IN RETURN, SOON IT COULD DESTROY IT. THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY FOR THE CREATURES TO RETURN TO TYROS IT IS -

“Well, well, looky here, it’s a Tingzer, I am honored, always wanted to meet one, but i always wanted to kill one singlehandedly too”

A dark silhouette arose from depths of the dark mines, still not showing the figure, it spoke in a bone-chilling voice.

“Who are you? I'm ain’t afraid, I can kill you if I want.”

The Tingzer said in a bold voice.

Rok backed off to safety.

“Really? If you see me, you would think twice. Heh heh heh”

“Show yourself then.”

The dark figure took the shape of a lion.

“Oh, no”

The Tingzer backed off, he knew the lion was an enemy of his species.

Well, let us end this, with a fight.

The Tingzer said nothing

 He grabbed Rok and disappeared.

The lion was also an extraterrestrial species of tyros.

He too disappeared.

They met at the entrance.

“Fight me if you dare you blert candidate”.

He swiped at the Tingzer, he missed.

“I'm tired of lions, today, I will beat you”

“Heheh, we’ll see”

Rok was thrust aside towards the bushes, where he said nothing.

Electric flew from the lion’s and the Tingzer’s paws, and flew at each other.

With immense dexterity and integrity, they pounced at each other.

The lion slammed the Tingzer to the goldilocks.

“I’m tired of Tingzer’s attacks, I will kill these species once and for all”

He swiped, a gash appeared on the Tingzer.

Blood trickled down.

“No”

Rok whispered.

he sprang from the bushes, and charged at the lion.

The lion blocked him with a blue ray.

“Stay out kid, or else…”

The Tingzer pushed the lion out and pinned him, powering him with shock.

“You thought you had won.”

“But the lion took his chance, and drew his nails through the Tingzer… almost killing him.”

“NOOOOOOOOOO!”

Rok screamed.

He grabbed a stick sticking out of a bush, and thrust it threw the lion, as it died.

“Rok, thanks, I know i’m dying, but I didn’t see the part about how to get back”

“I know, I memorized it before we met the lion”

“It’s by thinking about it mixed with earth.”

“You’re smart, but i’m gonna die.”

“No!”

Rok whispered.

But the Tingzer took a last breath…

And died….

By now many people were watching the scene, they knew what was happening, by context.

They started muttering.

Rok got sad, it was like losing a part of him.

But then, a light shone, the Tingzer awoke.

Rok grew surprised.

“How- how”

“I’ve got two hearts”

The Tingzer replied, grinning.

The people were relatively elated, as news reporters took interviews.

Rok was a famous kid now. No more pettiness.

The Tingzer then followed the rules and disappeared.

A shout was heard as he disappeared, I'll never forget you Rok.

It was from then on, humans never killed another beast.

And that’s how the unlikely  friendship of the Tingzer and Rok started...
