Fantasy

I walked out of the shiny, white court house, my mind blown. I was free. I giddily ran down the street with my sisters - Annie, Ashe, Skylar, and Star - and we celebrated. We were ourselves. We were for us. We were finally free. But, let me tell you why.

Fifteen years ago, a small band of rouge human scientists came together to try and save the world, though they were only trying to save themselves from a large punishment. They fused human DNA with elements of nature, and created five humans, who were my sisters and I. We were basically a kind of living magic, and that wasn't always great to know. We had silent guardians, whom we never really saw, and we weren't allowed outside, because of an incident when I was three. Some ugly humans had been hiking past our cave, and let's just say, I got mad. I thought the mountain was only for us, and I used my element on them. My sisters and I all got an element that we could control, in hopes that we would "save the world". I had the power of water, Annie had the power of earth, Ashe had the control of fire, Skylar had the ability of air, and Star controlled all that space stuff.

We have trained in peace for many years, and now, we are "ready". Whatever that means.

"Guys! We don't have to be weirdos anymore!" Ashe exclaimed. I chuckled and wrapped her in a giant hug, everyone else coming in with us.

"Yup. Now we have school." I told her. We all shuddered at the thought of being around normal humans. "The guardians will stay with us, but the scientists will be put on trial, as soon as they are found."

The next few days of transition were odd. We had to live in a house, and we each had different rooms. Where we lived before, - which was a cave - we all had to sleep in the same little room, which was nice. I found a room that was dark blue, and made a bed of sea foam come out of the ground, silently sinking into it and falling asleep.

I was woken up by a loud sound, and I crept out of bed to see what it was. There was a group of humans who all had torches, as if they were going to set the house on fire. They broke the window that I was hiding next to, and climbed inside of our house. I didn't realize it, but there were more people outside than I thought. At least twenty came into the main room, and two put my arms behind me, then covered my mouth. They said something to the man who first climbed in, and he shouted out at everyone else in a different language.

He then screamed, "Come out you freaks, or you won't see this one again." My sisters all came out of the long, winding hallway, and gasped when they saw me. I tried saying something to them, but the men put their hands over my mouth. One of the others than came to punch me in the stomach, and hard.

Ashe tried to run up, but Skylar blocked her. "Let my sister go!" Ashe yelled, her little voice filling the whole room. The men dropped me, but more people came and surrounded me. I tried to use my abilities to do something, but I was in too much pain. I dropped down to my knees, and then, the punches rained down. The last thing I heard was my sisters crying, and the last thing I saw was all the people leaving. Then, everything went dark.

I woke up in a white room later, in a bed with my sisters all around me. It hurt to move, but I knew that I was fine.

"Oh my gosh, Cove. Are you okay? How do you feel? Oh, your arm! You have so many bruises. Do you want the guardians?" Star asked me, each question pelting me in the face. I looked up, and saw a giant mirror, and I saw myself, but bruised and broken.

"Yeah, I guess. My head hurts. I guess after a good thing happens, bad things have to." I replied, trying to not strain myself too much. Annie whispered something to Star, and she started crying. "What's wrong?" I asked, but Annie just shook her head.

"Tell me," I demanded.

"Okay. The human doctors had to bring in one of the scientists, and he said that when the men who came into the house hit you, they tweaked something in your DNA, which is why you are so weak. They put you on life support, and you haven't woken up, and we thought that..." Annie answered, her sadness speaking for her thoughts.

I just sat there and didn't say anything. Then the doctors flooded in. They took some of my blood - which surprised them, because it was yellow - and they shook their heads. They prodded my arm, and put a cast on it. I asked them for some seaweed, but they just laughed. They told me seaweed would only hurt me further, but truthfully, it helps.

"I can tell that you are still getting used to us? Because even though I can't use my abilities, we have the other elements in here." I said, just above a whisper. The doctors then mumbled quietly to each other, than silently walked out of the room. After a few minutes, one more doctor came in, and he placed his fingers on my temples. The others came back in and did the same to my sisters. Then, I heard the voice. It was crunchy and cold, and it sounded like death.

"Good job, girls. Now that you have broken free of my chains, you will experience the pain and punishments from this disobedience." it said. And once again, everything went black, and the ground rushed up to meet me.
