I am Jason Clarke, I was sentenced to be executed by tomorrow morning. I was accused for betraying my homeland and my people.

I am writing this now while I am in my jail room waiting for the guards of the king to take me to death. The king who is Clarke Dawson …my father.

In fact, it is a chosen execution, I chose to be hated, outcasted and even to be called a betrayer.

To the one who will find this first, you have a great secret of the one who gave his life to his homeland (The shield). They called it by this name as it kept us away and saved us from the invaders of the south , they have no humanity , their goal is to take the shield by any way, they wanted to be the dominant power , they wanted to be great.

My father was the king for so many years until now, they tried a lot to attack us, but it was all in vain. They only used power, but they never used logic. The shield was safe under the rule of Clarke Dawson, they loved him, and he was respected between his people.

The day that I came to the world it was a memorable day for the whole country , he was in a great joy , the inheritor who will role the shield after him has come , there were celebrations among the whole people for about a week , they loved me even before they saw me , they expected a great ruler in the future as his father , but it seems that they see a criminal now.

Let’s get straight into this as we do not have much time it’s a matter of hours. When I turned 17 my dad told me that I need to take a responsibility and learn how to rule people as I am the one who will take all of this after him , I was a young man , I wanted to live my life on my own by doing what I just want , but I realized that he was right and I decided to be his extension in courage and wisdom. A part inside me was telling me that I shouldn’t waste my teenage, but I thought that it was better to bury this part.

I started to attend the meetings and gatherings of him with his ministers and leaders of the army , he started to teach me how to deal with a lot of points in ruling our homeland , how to deal with criminals ,with good people and with the invaders. In fact the invaders in the south were the most dangerous to us, they were the threat, may be the only threat towards us, he told me about their history in crimes and their violence against us and even against each other , “there are innocent people out there but the devils control them” this sentence I still remember it until now , dad you told me this oneday and I have experienced this by myself. You are wrong.

I threw away the thoughts of living like any teenager and started to live and think like a solider. I learned the maps; we were not on the world maps, so we made our own. I studied the history of the invaders well and knew all what they did and how they think, I also learned how to duel with sword and how to stand in the war.

I hated the invaders, I really hated them from what I’ve knew, I said to myself why such a tribe do all of this to us for nothing. I believed that there is a secret behind that, and I must know it one day.

Year after a year I was growing up and become more mature and more responsible, I am attending some gatherings with the leaders without the king know and then tell him about updates. He is preparing me to be his successor.

 I am 21 now, almost I am running most of our land resources. But still have the idea of that there is a secret behind the attacks of the invaders on us. Maybe I am so close to know it now.

“Dad I know everything now; I know that you read this now with a disappointment and you should be”

Remember when I said to you that I need to go to south, to the invaders and you got mad and went against this. Now I know the reason.

It’s a sunny day, prepared myself, my stuff and my sword, got on my horse heading south…. I had a great fear inside me but the thing that made me more confident that I’ve sent a letter with Alisha the leader of our army to them asking for a meeting of their king, I wanted to know. He accepted that and that what made me anxious, how they want to attack us and simply accept to meet me also the meeting is outside their land and my land to prevent any treachery.

At midday their king arrived, he seemed to be not comfortable for seeing me and that appeared on his face we were on our horses, and I ordered Alisha to be on the sight also to protect my back.

-         Well, king I was waiting for this so many years

-         Are you in charge now?

-         No, my dad is still there I am his successor

-         Has he known about this?

-         No, …. I want only to clarify some things for myself

-         Hey kid, I have no time to waste with you

-         Please, it can help you too

-         Say it

-         Why do you attack us?

-         Uhh, why? do you really don’t know why

-         All the answers that I have seemed to be dump for me I want to know the truth , you agreed to meet me , if you are a killer I would be dead right now so tell me what it is?

-         Look kid I am talking to you with a great hate for your father and for you also, but I will tell you as if you can solve something …. 

Your father is a killer … he came to us 25 years ago , he wanted to conquer our land to enlarge his land and to be dominant , he knew that our land has great resources he wanted to be on the world map, our people and me stood in his face , we fought for our land for our pride for our rights , we succeeded in stopping him but he killed my a lot of innocent he was a monster with no mercy for us , he killed my wife……..

(I was just looking with no single word)

-         Your father called us the invaders but in fact it was him, you asked me about our attack on you …. It was only the revenge and I didn’t get it until now.

(it was obvious that I was nervous at that time that made him realize that)

-         Don’t worry kid I am not a betrayer.

Now you know the truth does this change anything.

-         A lot sir.

At this time, I rode my horse back to the shield, at that time dad I was furious, I was just wanted to arrive as soon as possible to face you to tell you about what I knew.

Alisha was surprised what happened?

-         Alisha what do you know about the invaders?

-         Criminals

-         Why they attack us?

-         Hey Jason, I don’t know what he said to you, but he is their king do not believe everything he say

-         I do Alisha I do , you know why , he looked as if he was suffering , it is the logic , they attack for there revenge , we are the invaders not them, we killed his people and his wife, are we?

Alisha answer me, is that happened or not?

-         Look Jason , unless we take the south part we will be margined , we aren’t even on any maps , the world knows nothing about us there are many kingdoms around us there are a great life around us , they even don’t know that we are existed .

-         So, we need to kill them to be known to be on maps? you are just criminals, killers.

-         Jason ………

Leaving him and returning to the shield, all I thought that time was to make something.

Alisha followed me, seemed like he wanted to tell me something, I stopped at his shouts, ----- look Jason , you are right we made a terrible loss to them , killing people , taking their kids and women , but your father wanted us to be found to be great , they refused to talk to us at first so he decided to start the war.

-         The kids and women?

-         Some of them are still alive and living in the shield until now and the rest died after they came to our land because of the torture.

-         Did you take a part in that Alisha? did you?

-         I was a solider and my duty was to defend my land

-         ……..

I killed Alisha …………

I arrived at the palace, and the Confrontation with you begun,

-          can you tell me one reason to kill innocent people for the sake of being known?

-         What are you talking about?

-         I met their king today; I knew everything about your crimes …

-         Jason you met the king of the invaders, you are totally insane

-         I wanted to know the truth that you wouldn’t tell me about it, and I got what I want.

-         Why did you kill his wife? why did you kill his people? his attacks were only a revenge … you told me that they are criminals and in fact it was us … it was you.

-         I wanted the glory for us, for the shield. I was loyal to all the people here as I wanted the best for us.

-         And the death for the rest?

 At this time your assistant came and told you that Alisha found dead nearby.

The leaders came and I blew it

-         I killed him

-         What?? (all surprisingly)

-         I am responsible for that, and that makes me executed, do it just do it.

-         What are you trying to do Jason?

-         Nothing, I killed to be killed

It is easy for you; you did that harder before.

-         Jason tell me it is a joke ...

-         You are a killer and I wanted to be like you

I know that you are reading this dad , may be crying , blaming yourself , I just wanted to make you feel it , he lost his wife and you lost me , it is not a suicide but you put the rules.

I wanted to live, really, I wanted that, but you make me lose everything while teaching me how to be a solider I lost my humanity with it and now you should have some of it.

Feel it dad, you made him suffer and it’s your turn.  

nextday i was put in a prison , i was a betrayer to the people, the devil was me and long live the king and his men.
