Adventure Friendship Teens & Young Adult

“Are we there yet?” I asked while I dragged my legs through the dirt from exhaustion. “ Almost, now stop complaining.” my friend said back to me. She said she knew a cool place to hangout and have a picnic, but as of right now we are in the middle of the forest and I am pretty sure we are lost. “ Do you even know where we are going?” I asked. “ yes I do ”she said quietly as she looked side to side “ it's this way” as she pointed to the right. We found a narrow trail and followed it through brush and prickly branches. As we continued walking I noticed how beautiful my surroundings were. There was a little stream of water to my left and it was crystal clear and I could see the little tadpoles and fish swimming in it. The rocks in the stream looked like they were sparkling from the sun and the different colorful wildflowers everywhere were amazing. It took my breath away. I saw butterflies and honey bees going from flower to flower. The air smelt so sweet. As we kept walking there were two very tall and big trees on both sides of the makeshift trail ,and towards the end of the trail I saw a bunch of dangling vines and I noticed that my friend had disappeared. “ Hey, that's not funny, where are you” “ Over here, idiot” “ listen I know I am a little blind but where the hell are you I am literally walking in a circle and i can't see you” “ through the vines dork” she said. I am stupid i said to myself. As I walked closer to the dark green vines with little yellow flowers I could hear water falling and birds chirping. As I pushed aside the ivy vines I walked into an area with tall willow trees and hummingbirds of all different colors flew by and there was a waterfall falling into a little swimming hole. “ That's why you said to bring my swimming attire,” I said. “ yep”. We set our stuff down and hopped into the swimming hole. It was cold at first but your body got used to it. We swam for twenty minutes and decided to get out and eat. I got out of the water and walked on the grass over to where the stuff was at and I grabbed two towels one for me and one for my friend. “ So why did you say this place is a secret? I mean it's great but why can't I tell anyone”? As I said that something fell on my head I grabbed it. It was the most beautiful flower I had ever seen and as I looked around, flowers were falling from the sky. It was the most beautiful thing I have ever witnessed. The air smelled so sweet like the wild flowers that were growing on the trail earlier. I looked at my friend and said “ now I know why it's called the secret place now”.she looked at me and smiled and nodded at me. so pretty she whispered and was looking at the flowers that were piling up around us. " How often does this happen? '' I asked. '' It only happens twice a year, I accidentally stumbled upon this place while I was taking a hike and this happened on that day and I was so awestruck just like you. I have told no one because I am afraid if I do, people will come and trash this place like every swimming hole around here. Everybody ruins amazing places like this and it upsets me. I nod understanding. I looked around again at the amazing site before me. The flowers keep falling so elegantly. I caught one between my fingers. It was a little pink flower with a golden brown center. We had been at the secret place for five hours. The flowers stopped raining from the sky two hours ago. We packed our stuff up and we started leaving. As we left the ivory vines we heard a loud bang like crash and a humongous boulder had fallen where the opening was. We turned and looked at each other. “At Least we are out here and not stuck there forever.” i said “yeah your right also we are the last person to ever see the Secret Place though.”she responded. We both stood there in silence for about twenty minutes kinda sad that we can't come back to this place again. We finally snapped out of it and made our way back down the trail. “ at least we had fun, also I think I am sunburnt my back is a little itchy” i said

“Turn around let me see.” I turned around and lifted my shirt so all she could see was the bathing suit top and my back. “ damn girl you're literally a freaking strawberry that's how red you are, did you not put sunscreen on”. “I forgot “. I said. “ I am glad we hung out today, and that place was amazing. I am glad we were the last to see it and not get ruined by other filthy humans.” my friend said. We were walking down the path and I noticed that those flowers on our way to the place were now dead and shriveled up and the butterflies were on the ground dead and other little scavenger bugs were already eating away at them. And all the grass around this area was dead and smelled really bad. We kept walking but the closer we got to leaving the forest the smellier it got. We finally made it out of the forest that smelled like rotting bodies. “ It smells so nice out here.” my friend said. Taking a deep breath I agreed it does smell better. “ it was kinda weird that the forest smelled like that after the secret place got covered”. I said. “ Yeah, as if that was the heart of the forest or something.” We both looked at each other. “ what if we discovered the heart of the forest?” I said in a serious tone. Then we both burst into laughter. “ We are to dumb to find something like that.” my friend said. I nodded my head in agreement. We walked back to the car to leave the forest. No one would believe us if we told them what we saw I thought to myself.
