I am writing this because I don't know what will happen next. I don't know anyone who has ever been in my position, and I don't think movies or TV shows are accurate. I might have to talk to some scientists about it. That's if they could even know the outcome of my situation.
To explain, I need to go back to a few weeks ago. Me and a couple of friends of mine, Addie, Milo, and Henry were at the library one day hanging out. Milo pulled a book off the shelf but instead of it coming out, there was a trap door that opened under Addie's feet. She stepped to the side and we looked down the trap door. Milo told Henry to go down but he said no. I told Milo that I would go down for twenty bucks. He agreed and gave me the money. There was a staircase that I was able to use to walk down. There was no light down there so I had to use my phone flashlight to see. I wish I didn't. Down in the basement was filled with dust and spider webs everywhere including all of the vents and on the trap door. There were some boxes on a table that were untouched for, who knows how long? I got a text from Henry that said ‘Hold on for a minute.’ Then the trap door was closed. I freaked out at the complete darkness of this basement. If it wasn't for the flashlight on my phone then there would be no way for me to see in the bitch black. Luckily my phone had about eighty percent charge on it. While I waited for them to open the trap door I kept searching. I walked to the back of the room and I saw something weird. A book that had golden pages. I opened it and it was blank. Every page was empty. I touched one of the pages expecting it to feel different but it didn’t. Just like normal paper. As I was looking at it I decided to sit down on the stairs. I could hear them talking upstairs to Ms. Gorman. She was asking my friends where I was because she saw four of us come in. They kept telling her I was in the bathroom. I happened to look back in the book. The name Ruth Gorman appeared in red ink on the page. I flipped the page and it said the same thing on the next page. And the next one after that. Every page had her name in red ink. I could hear her getting angrier with my friends. She seemed like she wasn't going to leave. I used my phone to call the library and make her leave to answer it. It worked. Milo opened the trap door and I climbed out of the basement. I put the book in my backpack and told my friends about it. A few minutes later Ms. Gorman came back to yell at us. I didn't even know why she was so mad at us. Anyway, she told us to leave.
The next day my mom was watching the news and they were talking about Ms. Gorman. She had died shortly after we left. She had a heart attack. I grabbed my backpack and pulled out the book. Her name was gone. I hopped on the bus and went to school. I was sitting next to Addie and told her what happened. Of course, she was skeptical. I opened the book again so we could look at it. This time it showed two names. Robert and Jannette Tinsel. We both looked at each other. The traffic light turned green and the car next to us started to move forward. When they were halfway across the intersection a car ran the red light and t-boned the car. They flipped three times before sliding across the road. I looked down at the book and the two names were in green and disappeared.
At lunch, Addie came up to me and showed me her phone. There was an article about the car accident. The two people in the car died. Robert and Jannette. At this point, we realized that the book was telling us who was going to die next.
A few days went by but the book didn't show us any new names. Milo took it home and was gonna do some research and find out if he could find the history of where this book came from. The next day Milo called me and said he wasn't coming to school because his grandmother died in her sleep. He also said that her name appeared in the book with purple ink. Henry grabbed the book from him and brought it to school. He said that on his way to school, he passed by a building on fire. The book started glowing so he opened it and saw a lot of names in orange After a few days we learned that each time a name came up it was telling us who was dying around us and the color was how they were going to die.
Now comes the scary part. I went to the gas station and just before I walked in I checked the book Two names appeared. Carol Chandler and my Name. Evan White. They were written in silver. We hadn’t figured out what silver was yet. I walked in shaking. The cashier had a name tag that said, Carol. My heart dropped. Just as I looked at the door I saw a man walking in with a ski mask on. “Get down. I shouted at Carol. The masked man fired his gun and shot Carol. Then the man aimed the gun at me and I grabbed his hand and pulled the gun from him and shot him in the leg. Someone had called the cops and I sat down on the ground shivering in fear. The masked man rolled around in pain and I looked at the book again. Carol's name was gone and my name was still there in silver.
The cops arrived and I told them about Carol and the masked man. They gave me a ride home.
That was three days ago. I have not left my house because I am too scared. My fate was changed because I opened this book. It goes to show you that death is all around us and we don’t know how or when. My name is still in silver on the pages. Today I am going to go to take this book back. Hopefully, I make it back home.

This was an enjoyable, comprehensible, and a creative story. Just a word of advice, read it aloud or have it read to you so that you can find any typos or run on sentences. I use the text to speech feature on my computer.
