Horror Suspense Thriller

This story contains themes or mentions of physical violence, gore, or abuse.

Within the blink of an eye, lightning is shooting across the sky and striking the ground. Thunder rumbles loudly and is deafening to all ears.

Despite the violent storm that is occurring, only one area is being affected by it. A simple house sitting alone on a lonely road surrounded by nothing but woods; everything outside the perimeter of the house is untouched.

The wind violently whips around the trees and bushes that border the house, stripping the leaves from them. Rain slaps the ground and fills up the entire backyard until it becomes flooded. The ground becomes all mushy and slippery.

Lightning begins to strike the ground multiple times, all in the same spot. Chunks of the earth explode from the impact. A large hole began forming, growing deeper and deeper until it was many feet deep.

"WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING?!" screamed the house owner as he watched the storm tear apart his backyard.

Lightning continues destroying the yard and ripping apart the ground. Water is filling up the giant hole quickly. Soon, it will be like a giant pool in the backyard.

Just as quickly as the storm began, it ended.

There was thunder and lightning, and then there was nothing. The rain ceases its violent assault, and everything is normal again.

The owner, an older gentleman with a thin hairline and thick glasses, warily steps off his back porch. He slowly approaches the giant hole filled to the brim with water. His heart is pounding against his ribcage, exhilarated and frightened from the event that has occurred.

The hole has to be six feet wide, and the depth is unknown. It could be used as a swimming pool if the owner wanted to.

"Damn it. It's going to take forever to fill it up." grumbled the man. Despite the fright that he experienced, he becomes agitated. 'Took me hours to redo the lawn. Now I have to do it all over again.'

Suddenly, the placid pool of dirty water ripples. Bubbles puncture the surface rapidly. There is something in there.

"What the hell?" asked the man aloud to himself. He peers over the hole. 'Maybe an animal or--'

Before the man realizes it, a hand breaches the water's surface and claws at the earth. Bones can be visible as the flesh is rotting and falling off. Soon enough, the hand becomes an arm. Then the arm becomes a shoulder. The shoulder extends into the head.

The visible tendons and vessels are holding the flesh together. There aren't any lips as gnashing teeth grind together, the muscles flexing together. Hair clings to the skull with the small amount of skin that still remains. There are no eyes in the sockets, but you can feel the gaze of the monster.

The living corpse crawls out of the watering hole. The creature reveals to be a woman by the dress clinging to their skinless body.

"No . . . it can't be . . . "

The man is frozen in shock as he watches the corpse stand up on her two legs. The creature is shorter than him but all the more terrifying.

Despite the terrifying, supernatural event before his eyes, a smile spreads across the man's face. "For so long, I have waited for this moment! Killing, sacrificing, and it finally worked!" he said joyfully. "Those believers of God will wish they prayed to my lord instead!"

The corpse stares at him wordlessly.

"Have you come to me as a servant of Lucifer? Are you going to bring me to him?" asked the man excitedly.

"Not. Quite." spoke the corpse hoarsely.

The corpse grabs the man by the throat, digging its sharpened phalanges into his skin. The digits bite down on his larynx, cutting off his airway. Then the man is lifted off the ground.

"I am not the servant of the devil. But I am going to bring you to him."

The corpse begins to regain its original form. Tendons, veins, organs, and skin begin to regrow. The corpse reveals to be a young teenage girl with soft curves and ample bosom. Long brown hair flows down her back with matching big brown eyes.

The girl stares at the man with dead eyes. A look that can kill is on her face as she stares at him coldly.

"Remember me now?" she asked rhetorically. The fear in the man's eyes tells the teenager that he does.

The teenager drops the man and lets him fall to the ground. "I hope you remember me, Mr. Giles. Time flies by in Hell. I don't know how much time has passed here." she said softly. Tilting her head like a curious puppy, she eyes the man closely. "You still look the same, so I'm guessing it's not that long?" she assumed.

"H-How are you here?! I killed you! I buried you!"

Mr. Giles crawls backward as he struggles to comprehend the sight before him. The fearful recognition on his face brings cruel joy to the teenager.

"Because of you, I was sent to Hell." snarled the girl. "Time moves quickly in the Realm of the Damneed. For thousands of years, I've lived there. Fighting for my life against the monsters and other demons that live there!"

Her eyes glow a crimson red as she becomes enraged. "When souls arrive in Hell, they arrive in the state they die in," she growled. "You cut me into pieces. There I was painfully put back together as if I was experiencing my death all over again!" she cried in rage.

And just like that, her rage was gone. Replaced with it is a scarily calm demeanor. But her eyes show something else.

"You committed such horrendous signs for your loyalty to the Lord of the Underworld. I'm here to grant you the wish you so much desire."

The undead girl opens her mouth, revealing razor-sharp teeth and a snake tongue. Venom drips from her fangs, running down her chin. "I shall bring you to the Underworld as another sinful bastard." she hissed with a sinister smile. "Lord Lucifer doesn't like it when someone uses his name in vain. He is actually tired of the many sacrifices."

With the swiftness of a cobra, the undead girl tackles Mr. Giles to the ground. Her teeth latch onto his neck, injecting her venom into his body.

A bloodcurdling scream tore from the man's mouth as it felt as if the fire was burning inside of him. Blood spills out of his mouth as his lungs become filled with crimson fluid. The blood vessels on his face break and pop as the venom burns through him. His blue eyes turn into a milky white as Mr. Giles becomes blind.

"Brianna! Please! Stop! I beg of you!" Mr. Giles pleaded.

"Your face! You are full of such fear! You look like how I looked as you killed me!"

Brianna laughs uncontrollably as Mr. Giles slowly dies of her venom. Revenge has been served. Her killer is where he belongs.
