Drama Friendship Fiction

She knows that, according to a "Miracle Morning" by Hal Elrod, she should wake up very early every morning, that is before 8 a.m.

But no, she cannot. Reading this book didn't help her.

She understands this is just a "lucky" morning she woke up so early. It is 4 a.m. now. She can see the sunrise, the beauty, and the majesty of it. She feels the fresh air blown inside through the windows of the kitchen. Few cars and nobody outside. Birds have already started singing. What a miracle! This time of the day can bring you only positive energy. "Why can't I get up early every morning?" -  she asks herself.

"Maybe because of my shortsightedness, due to which my eyes require more sleep? Or maybe because of the tiring daily routine, the city life, and driving a car? Or maybe because I go to bed after 11 p.m.? Or maybe because of the stress I am going through these days? Maybe my organism lacks some minerals and vitamins? Maybe during sleep time, I feel more peaceful? Maybe I am too lazy?"

Whatever the reason is, she wants to do more today. She has more plans for the day. She is energetic, positive, and cheerful. She made notes of her tasks for the day, she wrote "thankfulness" for all she has. She read around 10 pages of her favorite book by Mark Manson - "Everything is Fucked". She breathed deep, eyes closed, and peacefully started to believe that everything was happening for a reason. Since she can see this beauty, she trusts that there is something magical behind this scene. Beauty consisting of many colors that nobody would relate to a sunrise! Purple, pink, red, orange, blue, and something mixed. She noticed some clouds depicting the image of a dinosaur, a dolphin, a kitten, and a dog trying to take care of the kitten. Seconds later the clouds changed their forms and she no longer could see a dinosaur and other animals. The clouds were getting bigger and bigger and darker and darker. Lightning struck and the rain began to fall. The air became even fresher. She couldn't help but breathe the humid air deeply. "Something good will happen today" - she thought.

An hour and a half later, she found that she had done all the household errands she had been postponing for a week. Not bad. She also did her morning exercises with her favorite music. She took a shower and did some light, natural make-up. She styled her hair and she was at the door, ready to go to work. "I hope I will not fall asleep during a boring meeting today in the office" - whispered to herself. In reality, the meeting turned out to be serious for her. She was given serious documents to translate, and a new project to be handled by her which would grant her a ticket to vacation upon a successful set-up. And it was not a good event she was thinking about in the morning, instead, the project laid more burden on her. The meeting was tiring, so many questions were moving around in her mind and all were about the new project.

The next days were just as usual. She could hardly wake up in the morning. She didn’t see the sunrise after the project was assigned to her since she was working overtime. She became too busy and nervous, she even lost weight due to the new tasks she had. The worst which happened to her was that she broke up with her boyfriend. She couldn’t spare enough time for him. They couldn’t meet at all. They had only that rare chat on a messenger. Although she wanted to meet him, she needed his support more than ever, she wanted to hear his voice - calming and cheering. He just stopped messaging her, for no reason. This was psychological stress. She wanted a change. She couldn’t cope with the separation, but she decided not to bother him anymore. It was a test for their relationship. The 3-years relationship was not at its best level the last few days, and this project put an end to it.

But she continued to work hard, honestly and with a hope that the project would bring her a good vacation.

Two months later, she stands next to the whiteboard and waits for everybody to gather in the room - all the guests, investors, marketing managers, the director, her colleagues, etc. One of the guests to listen to her presentation turned out to be her ex-boyfriend. She was surprised when he went in and she got even more nervous. The director invited him as an analyst, supposedly.

She started her speech and explained all the processes, all the work needed to be done, and the expected revenue that the project could bring. She was precise, confident, and positive. During the “question-answer” stage of her presentation, she was given a lot of questions, which she answered fully and confidently. Her ex-boyfriend was looking at her all the time. That time she had a hope that they still had a chance to start everything over again.

Overall, the presentation was brilliant. The director praised her a lot and granted two tickets to the Maldives. When the guests were leaving the room, her ex came to her and praised her, and wished her good luck.

That morning changed her life. She proved to herself that she was not lazy. She proved that she could work overtime and sleepless. She proved that she could manage complex projects. She proved that she deserved a good vacation. “The good thing which was waiting for me was the new project. The rain was a sign of the difficulties waiting for me. And the fresh humid air was the sign of a vacation. Now she has two tickets.

“Will he call me? Does he still have feelings towards me? Did he come to the presentation just because the director asked him or? Maybe he has somebody else?” - she was left alone with these questions.

Whom will she take as a companion to the Maldives?
