Walking to the divine world, a world full of greatness where creativity can go wild, I stood there, wondering what to do. The space was filled with tonnes of items I could use to end up with something magnificent or maybe even something crap but you never know what could turn up, what idea could turn up. I strolled back to my luxurious bedroom to get hold of my phone to get an idea of what to do, rather than make in the first place for I had no clue on what to prepare for my guest.
“ Maybe I should just call her to ask what she wants… After all, she is the guest & she must have a choice for what she wants. I’m sure she won’t mind at all…” I thought aloud as I went through my list of never-ending contacts to finally find my friend, Julieta Mary Ann, who I’ve been friends with ever since I was born! Mainly because our mums were friends & even our grandmother’s were friends so it’s like a 3rd generation friendship, you know.
“ Hello? Julieta?” I said on the phone.
“ Oh, hey there Vikki! What’s up?” replied Julieta with the most exuberant voice ever.
“ Oh… I was just wondering what you wanted for dinner… you know how I invited you? That’s all. So tell me, what do you feel like eating today?”
Julieta replied almost instantly, “ Oh, I am in the mood of having something Italian. Specifically Panzanellas & Lasagnas… I just can’t wait to reach your house. Your food is always so good & tasty!
I started to blush because nobody has ever complimented my cooking before but tension’s lava started to boil through my head as I realised I only had 2 hours for all this cooking to happen before Julieta arrived. I also hadn’t got any of the ingredients home so I also had to do some shopping.
“ Sure Julieta, anything you want. What time are you coming over?” I ask her hoping I have enough time for everything.
“ It’s 5:30pm at the moment, I’ll come at 8pm, is that fine? Hope it’s not too late. I also have some homework left to do so I’ll finish that off & then I’ll come over, yeah?”
I am so glad she's coming at 8 o’clock so that gives some extra time. I hung up the call & madly search on Google on how to prepare these dishes because I want it to be perfect for my best friend! Instead of rushing to the mall, I decided to do some online shopping which says it’ll be delivered in half an hour. This is perfect! Everything’s going exactly how I wanted it to… Just the cooking bit is left.
I scurry around the house, cleaning & making sure everything is in its place so the house will look sparkly clean like diamonds by the time Julieta arrives. I have a 3 bedroom house with 2 & ½ bathrooms & the total land size is 360sqm. I know it’s a bit too much for a single person but when friends & family come over to stay for a few days, having extra space is the key. To make sure everything is tidy in a two-storey house is kind of difficult because you finish the ground level, relax & then remember you still have the first floor to do which is painfully sick to experience, trust me.
The groceries arrived in no time at all but luckily, I’d just finished cleaning the entire house, ready to cook for my friend! I ran to the kitchen as if I was competing with others in a running race that depended on my whole life, wanting to finish everything on time. I started to technically sprint across the kitchen gathering everything I’ll need to prepare the Panzanellas & Lasagnas. After 5 mins, everything was set & I was ready to start cooking!
The Panzanellas took 45 mins & the Lasagnas, well they did take a bit longer than expected, they took an entire hour! I mean, it wasn’t too bad because luckily, Julieta came 45 mins late because of the traffic jams & even her homework so that gave me 3 hours & 15 mins for everything to get neat & organised. When the doorbell rang, I almost had a heart attack because I still had 1 spill I had to still get rid of so I opened the door as fast as I could, made her sit on the couch & told her I had to quickly clean the floor because of a spill & ran to the kitchen. I don’t know why but today, I seem to be in the mood for running, I should have been at the park or even the Olympics, surely not at home!
After I clean the spill, I stroll back to the lounge room to realise my sofa colour has changed! It was originally grey but now it’s suddenly black! I literally scream.
“ Aaaaaah!” I scream.
“ What happened Vikki?!” yells Julieta, very frightened looking.
“ My.. my...my so...o...f...aaaa” I say reluctantly.
“ What happened to your sofa?” replies my friend with such an inscrutable voice.
“ It’s changed colours!!” I yell out loud.
“ What? Wasn’t it always black?” she asks, wondering if I had gone bonkers.
“ It was always grey! Is this some sort of prank?” I question her.
“ No… I never did anything, I swear!”
“ Oh well, I’ll try not to think too much about it. Let’s go have dinner, shall we?” I ask her as my tummy starts to grumble with hunger.
We both walked to the dining room in such a quiet manner, as if somebody had muted us & we couldn’t move our mouths. I showed her the dining room table & she was fascinated by how luxurious it is & immediately asked me where I got it from. Obviously, these kinds of talks just trail off so we kept on gossiping until I opened the lid of boxes where I had kept the jaw-droppingly food I had prepared just for the both of us.
“ Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah!” I scream once more.
“ What happened Vikki? Did anything change colours?”
“ No Julieta. I spent 2 hours making the Panzanellas & Lasagnas & now…. They’re gone!” I even started to sob because I was just so thrilled about cooking Italian food & feeding to my best friend & everything was gone!
“ It’s ok Vikki. I don’t want to see you cry. It’s ok… but how?”
“ I have no clue what & how all of this even happened! I guess we’ll just have to order from UberEats!” I say, still really depressed about what happened.
Even throughout the dinner with our yummy meals from UberEats, I still had 1 question hovering around in my head.
“How?”

Great job! Just some simple feedback. Add some more vocabulary to make it a bit more intriguing and also add some more imagery. For example when you are describing a sense of frustration really show that in the writing piece. You could write: "My head was in flames but half of it drifted in wonder. What just happened? My eyes tried to catch that move but seriously?"
