Kacii woke up, yawned and glanced over to the clock on his bedside table, the red numbers read 3pm. "Dammit.. I knew I shouldn't have stayed up all night." He sighed, and grabbed his phone off the pillow next to him, checking the familiar groupchat with his friends. "99+ notifications from The Wiffy Group." His eyes widened, as one more message from Milly popped up.
"Yeah we're dating!" Quickly signing into his phone, he went to the website to see the messages. "Milly.. and.. Mari.. ette..? His words came out in a choked whisper, when he suddenly burst out with a deranged cackle. He continued reading as Mariette started typing. "Mhm! We found out that we lived in the same neighborhood, so she came over to visit, and from there.. well.. we just clicked!"
Grip tightening on his phone, he saw a rare occurrence. Jack sent a message.
"Congratulations ladies!"
He relaxed a little, maybe he's overreacting. He shouldn't be upset. He should be happy. Be happy for Milly. Kacii jumped into the conversation, giving the girls false "I'm happy for you's." Jack was more involved than usual, sweet as ever. Every time a message from Milly popped up, his eyes would light up. They talked about racism and going to this protest together, then Kacii offered to take the group out to dinner.
They would meet up at Mandala Rose, a very expensive restaurant with exquisite food, and private rooms if you're willing to pay for one. Kacii, happening to be rather wealthy, bought one of these rooms for the night. They were set to go tomorrow night. Setting his phone down for a moment, Kacii stood and went to stare out his window.
A few hours had passed while he was talking with his friends, so the sky hanging over the city was dim. The bright lights streaming from the windows of the tall buildings creating a subset of their own, slowly blinking out as people decided to slip into sleep. Closing his curtains rather harshly, he went to check the several messages from Jack, Milly, and Mariette. He smiled, seeing that Jack was involved in this conversation, rather than just piping in from the sidelines. Milly and Mariette were on the same side, and if he looked closer he could see that there was some sort of argument going on. It was about.. him..? Jack argued that he was gay, the couple argued he was straight. "What the fuck.." he muttered. Answering the argument, he settled things.
"I'm bi."
It went dead for about 30 seconds, before Milly and Mariette started excitedly texting. Jack excused himself.
Kacii looked longingly and a bit disappointed when he read that Jack was going to leave for a few. He focused his attention back to Milly, his sweet love. Mariette is in his way. Kacii watched the two flirt and fight over who loved the other more, and his face had been stuck in a scowl so long it seemed like it would never fade.
Jack said goodnight at the late hour of 11pm, and his sour expression slightly softened. He wished the boy a pleasant night and sweet dreams, before saying goodnight himself. Contrary to the previous night, he woke up rather early. There was a message from Jack, wishing everyone a good morning. It was 8am, and they were set to go to dinner at 8pm. 12 hours until show time.

Mandala Rose, the restaurant they were scheduled to meet at, was very elegant. It's theme was red and black roses and symmetrical patterns adorning the walls and furniture. The landscaping outside was absolutely breathtaking. I parked the car, staring in wonder at the gorgeous restaurant in front of me. In the passenger seat, I heard Milly gasp. "This is beautiful.. how did Kacii afford this?!" she exclaimed, looking over at me with wide eyes.
I chucked at her expression, leaning over and placing a quick kiss on her forehead. "Mariette!" Milly tried to hide her face behind her hair, but I could see the very bright blush dusting her face. "C'mon, let's go inside." I quickly climbed out of the car, walking around the hood of the car to open the door for Milly. Holding out a hand for my princess, I help her out, and hand in hand we walk up the path and through the doors of the expensive restaurant.
I talked to the lady who greeted us, telling her we were with the Wiffy party, while Milly hid behind me. She gave a polite smile and began taking us to a private room. Of course, we know what each other looked like. But besides me and Milly, none of us have met each other in real life or heard each other's voices. It's like they were basically strangers.
The lady took a shallow bow, gesturing widely at a door with her arm. I gave her a nod and a smile as a thank you, and she curtly nodded and turned on her heel. Pushing open the door, I could see two pairs of shoes. One pair was pale yellow converse, and the other were black dress shoes. Bringing my gaze up from the floor, I saw the not-so-familiar faces of my friends. Jack, a soft brunette with a cute face and a gentle smile, and Kacii, a faintly smiling, kind of scary guy. His split dye, black and neon green, halfway matched the restaurant.
The two were engaged in a conversation, and didn't notice me and Milly standing there in the doorway. I eased myself into the room, holding a hand out for Milly as she followed close behind me. I cleared my throat, Milly tucked behind me. Their heads snapped up, and Jack broke into a huge smile while Kacii's face went kind of dead. I smiled widely in response, and took in notice the table. Oh my god, the table.
It was covered in plates of food that just looked absolutely mouth-watering. I took a seat, Milly follow suit and taking the seat next to me. Kacii started a conversation, and the whole group started talking about feminism and the patriarchal government system and things of the such. Jack piped in occasionally, still listening to everything that was being said. He's a quiet and shy person, so it made sense and didn't offend any of us.
We didn't order ourselves, since Kacii had arrived first and ordered off of what we said we enjoyed. It was circular table, Jack and Kacii sat on one side and me and Milly sat on the other. Out of nowhere, Milly leaned over, grabbed my face, and kissed me. That's when all hell broke loose.

Kacii stood up, slipped something from his waistband. The glint of the metal in the light and the way he drew it gave away what it was seconds after it was in his hands. On his left, Jack dropped of his chair and crouched beside it instead. Milly and Mariette stood, panic clear as day on their faces.
"You did this on purpose! You're trying to hurt me! I made it obvious that I loved you!" He screamed at Milly, gun now held high and aimed straight at her. She trembled in her boots, voice in a shaky whisper when she responded. "N-no I.. I di- didn't kn-" She was cut off by the loud pop of gunfire, as she collapsed. Mariette immediately dropped to her knees to fret over the shot girl. Luckily, Kacii's hands were shaking and the bullet went through her shoulder instead.
He turned, facing a now standing Jack. His hands, shaking violently now, held up the gun and aimed it at him. Jack held up his hands, slowly walking towards Kacii. He whispered sweet nothings, quiet little assurances, as Kacii backed up from him. When his back hit the wall, he dropped his weapon as Jack kept advancing. Behind them, at the table, a furious Mariette stood, ready to shout obscene things at the gunman.
Jack payed no mind to her, gently cupping Kacii's face in his hands. "Oh my dear.. what have you done..?" Ever so softly, he pressed his lips to Kacii's.

When he kissed me, it felt like the world stopped spinning. Time moved in slow motion. It was just us alone. But alas, that's not reality. He pulled back, a sweet smile on his face. I kept muttering about jail and prison and such.. and his smile turned down at the corners. I hated seeing it. So I lunged forward and kissed him. And again, our moment couldn't last forever. Mariette started screaming at us, well, for like me. "You fucking shot her! You fucking monster! What the hell is wrong with you?! My poor baby.. if you loved her so badly why'd you do it! Huh? Is that how your love works?!" Jack stood, pulling away, flashing me a smile as he did so.
He approached the table, dragging his finger along the edge as he walked around it, towards Mariette. When he was very near her, he grabbed one of the knife off the table, and quickly slammed it hilt-deep into her shoulder. A choked cry of pain escaped her lips, eyes wide as she stared at Jack. Even I was surprised.. why did he do that? He bowed in apologies, and I watched blood pool over his hand, and on the floor from Milly and Mariette both.
Jack darted back to me, planting a quick kiss on my forehead, before taking off his blood stained sweater and folding it to hide all the blood. He grabbed my arm, and dragged me out of the building. I had paid up front, so there was no need to stop for a bill. "What about the girls.. what if they tell..?" I whispered. He shook his head. "They won't. Milly loves her friends too much to tell, and Mariette will follow her out of love." He grinned, and took my hand instead as we made it into the parking lot.
I switched the roles, rushing to my car, dragging him with me as I did. "Go on, get it!" I motioned to the passenger seat. Scrambling around the hood, he deftly swung into his side. I climbed into the driver's side, jamming my keys into the slot and starting my car. Revving the engine just a bit, I pulled out of the lot, and we took off down the road.
