Mystery

7 months ago, Sarah Jackson and her fiancé had been walking hand in hand on the sidewalk of manhattan. It was a very peaceful day, but Sarah couldn’t help but feel something was off. Her fiancé, James Marshall had rushed the two out of their apartment, leaving the tv on and stove still boiling. Sarah had asked What was wrong multiple times but James only smiled and kissed her head saying “nothing‘s wrong dear” but the ache in Sarah’s stomach told her otherwise, and James step had quickened every time he Slightly looked behind him, and every time Sarah tried to look behind, James rushed them around another building corner. James breathing became ragged and he started running so fast Sarah could hardly keep up, and one of her heels snapped as they were running across the cross walk. Suddenly, a giant armored Jeep sped into the crosswalk, hitting James and continued to screech it’s wheels down the packed streets of New York. Sarah’s eyes were wide with shock and terror, James had been right in front of her, but now, the only thing that lay in front of her was a smashed cellphone, no body, no other sign that James had been with her, except for the cellphone. 7 months later, Sarah was walking through the farmers market that happened every Sunday. The market was crowded and the Sound of the people’s voices drowned out all other sounds. She walked over to the less crowded part of the market, which was eerily quiet and empty, so quiet that Sarah could’ve heard a pen drop. “Sarah” a voice said, a voice so familiar and brought pain and sadness to her. Sarah whipped her head around, and there stood James Marshall, every bit of him looked the same as 3 years ago, he was even still wearing the green shirt Sarah had gotten him for Christmas 2 years ago. Sarah had a terrible feeling in her stomach. He looked and sounded like James, but when she looked into his eyes, she didn’t find the Small flakes of gold. instead, she saw black, no green, no gold, only black. James started his decent towards her, laughing and scratching the back of his head, it took all sarah had to not drop her basket and rush into his arms, because, James was dead. They never found a body, but, nobody could’ve lived after Getting hit at that speed. Sarah dropped her basket, tomatoes and peaches spilling out onto the floor. James was still far away, so she could get back into the crowd and slip Away with no problems, but when Sarah turned Around to run, James was blocking her way, with a deep anger in his cold black eyes, like he knew her exact plan. “Aren’t you happy to see me?” he said, with a harsh tone, so unlike James. “You aren’t him” Sarah said as she backed up quickly “James is dead, whoever you are leave me alone” James ran at her, holding her by her waist, and looked into her eyes. He held her exactly like James did, but the touch felt so wrong, like his skin was rough and plastic. James looked down at her stomach and squinted. “You’re pregnant” he said with certainty. Even though she was 7 months pregnant, she hardly had a bump at all, which baffled every doctor she went to. “I can tell, I can feel its blood“ james Pressed a hand to her stomach, but his nails dug into her and she cried out in pain and tried to push him away “get away from me!” Sarah yelled and tried to run away. Sarah woke drenched in sweat, breathing heavily, but she couldn’t move, and she heard a strange beeping next to her, which got quicker and quicker. Sarah looked around and saw that she was in a hospital room. “but why? “ she thought. Saran suddenly felt pain in her stomach, a pain that had been there the whole time but she only now noticed. When she looked down, she had a gapping whole, right where her stomach should be, almost like something had torn her open from the inside out. Sarah spotted something red from the side of her bed, tiny bloody foot prints, leading to the doors, which had been broken and were laying on the floor, while the outside had flickering lights and blood covering the hallway. Sarah ripped off the tubes that has been attaching her the machines and ran out of the room. Her feet soaked with the blood from nurses, visitors and doctors Sarah had been in so much shock, the sight of mangled bodies on the floor didn’t phase her. Sarah looked out a window and saw the moon was covered by clouds, clouds that were pouring rain down like tears for the death of so many. Walking up the flight of stairs, Sarah walked out onto the roof, all the blood washing away like memories of her past. She walked to the side of roof, and looked Out over the city. Builds being blown up, screaming and crying filled her ears. Sarah looked up at the sky, the rain hitting her face, soaking her blood covered hair and hospital gown. Looking back at her memories with James, their very first date In high school, their graduation, James proposing on New Years, and James telling her it would be dangerous if they were ever to have a baby, because James wasn’t human. She didn’t know what he was, but he told her if he and a human were ever to procreate, something monstrous would be born. Sarah closed her eyes and said “James, I’m coming“ and she jumped off of the roof, ending her life. whatever she had brought into the world had no remorse, no feelings at all, just a drive to kill everything on sight, and whatever had taken James body, had awoke that beast, and intended to end the world that We live in today.

This is an achingly eery story. It was good. The paragraphs should be broken to make reading easier and you should do more showing than telling.
